SS has a lot of strengths going for it, it just also has the most completely stupid flaws that shouldn't exist.

A remake could incredible if it fixed those simple problems like describing every new item you gain in the collectibles list per every play session. And do something about Fi's overtalkative ass that makes Navi look like shy.

I kind of like this, weirdly enough. It's not near as bad as TP (the original) reminding you what fucking rupees are. At least those materials items are strange, and there are so many kinds of them that those reminders never bothered me. It's definitely something they'd clean up in the remake anyway.

The larger problems with Skyward Sword that need fixing are:

- Fi's absurd overtalkativeness/overguidance, as GMUN pointed out
- The empty sky
- Reoccurring bosses, specifically The Imprisoned fight

Fi is an incredibly easy fix. The other two would take some work, but if they put in the extra effort they're more than doable.

Improving the sky would require actual new content: fill it with more islands and more meaningful places to visit. Wind Waker struck such a great balance between the vast emptiness of its sea and the interesting places to explore within that sea; take a page from it. I think it would also be really cool to get more little holes in the sky that connect to the surface and to eventually be able to get all the areas to interconnect with one another. As for the reoccurring Imprisoned fight, my solution is as follows: Take out Imprisoned 2 altogether. Have players fight Imprisoned 1, then 3, then make the actual third fight something entirely original and new. Ghirahim didn't really have this problem since his third fight was entirely unique, but they should still maybe give him some more unique attacks during his second fight. To be even more greedy, I always wanted a third phase in the Demise battle as well. Such a good fight but it's so ridiculously short.

Skyward Sword is already my favorite Zelda, warts and all, but damn how they could clean it up and make it so much better still. I highly doubt Aonuma would tease it on the Switch unless it's happening, so my mind has been going wild with the possibilities for a couple days now.

Oddly enough I was never really bothered by the multiple Imprisoned fights, although I certainly understand a lot of people who are.

Adding more content in the sky sounds like it would be one of the more obvious things to ad in a remake although who knows if they'd actually do it.

I was never bothered as much by the multiple Imprisoned fights as most either, but yeah, making the recurring bosses more unique each go would only serve to improve the game.

And I have hopes, but we'll see! I'm usually too optimistic about these things.

The sky was fine. It could definitely use more stuff but it doesn't NEED it. The main town was awesome and there were a few other cool islands. The connection with the ground (cubes) was cool too. The vast majority of the game is on the ground, which is great. The sky is more comparable to the little minigames that occur in between islands in WW, not the islands themselves. And those minigames were completely useless (along with like half the islands too), so at least the sky has something more than that.

The imprisoned fights just need to be turned into a big QTE or something. I'm not against repeated boss fights, but the lamest most boring boss 3 times?

Really though this game is par for the course for Switch.

Another great game that was passed over by the mainstream cause they mostly gave up on the Wii at that point. So of course it gets ported to the Switch, the mainstream console where mainstream gamers are just stealing every past game they stupidly skipped over while real gamers have to sit through droughts.

Random aside: I always wanted a more traditional "endgame" style dungeon too, ala Ganon's Tower in Wind Waker. I was all excited to visit the Sealed Grounds in the past my first time through, only to be a little let down that it was just an immediate face off with the final boss. A few puzzley rooms, some bosses back to back (Phantom Demise anyone?), and just an epic setting leading up to the final boss would go so much to make the endgame more memorable for me.

Don't get me wrong. Sky Keep is great, but nothing has ever topped Wind Waker's endgame for me and I'd love to see something structurally similar.

Skyward Sword has some of the most brilliant stuff in the series but also some of the laziest, shittiest stuff. I liked the sky as a sort of compromise of the WW ocean, the spirit trials were sweet, and some of the best dungeons in the series (Mining Facility, Cistern, Sandship, Sky Keep). But a lot of the moments in between that stuff felt like it was designed to waste your time. Boss refights, backtracking, the dumb minigames like escort missions and tadtones (apparently some people liked this but I couldn't stand them).

It definitely gets a bad rap. If it was more focused it would stand a shot at being the best 3D Zelda.

This is where I stand. The game had almost as much charm as Wind Waker, a great score, and arguably the strongest collection of dungeons in a 3D Zelda.

If they fix some of the pacing issues (mainly by silencing Fi and keeping menu prompts from constantly bugging the player), that alone will be a major improvement. Some of the actual story segments can also be trimmed for the sake of tighter pacing (3x Imprisoned fight, returning to the first dungeon midway through the game), but I don't think Nintendo has made changes that significant when re-releasing games. I also think those sections will be way more palatable if the player isn't constantly interrupted by Fi/the menu.
