However, the editor vetoed this, because he believed that there was no way a woman could ever make for a threatening supervillain, and thus Eddie Brock was created in her place.

I haven't watched Super but from the sounds of it he's actually regressed in a way considering the old English dub tried to make him more heroic than he originally was, IIRC.Yep.
