Finally got Ibuki, thanks to all those EXP things the game added recently. Gonna go for Roon now, but all my Ironblood ships are hot garbage. I think Graf Zeppelin is 96 and Z23 is 102, but nothing else comes close.

yeah, right there with ya. i had a lot of plans for other builds too that i never got around to. i was gonna turn the dingy Slog place into the jewel of the Commonwealth, The Slog Casino Resort, known far and wide for its Tarberry Wine, the production of which i was gonna outsource to the tanks at Warwick Homestead, and its outdoor venue with airborne power armor stunt shows by the Atom Cats.

and i was gonna build a huge multi-towered teaching hospital on Spectacle Island, the Shaun and Nora Howard Memory Teaching Hospital, with an Atrium tower, a Hospital tower, a Campus tower, an Admin tower, a security and maintenance basement level complex spanning them all, and a resident/attending physican villa on the waterfront.

and a Minuteman airship to rival the Prydwen at Finch Farms, which i was going to turn into Finch Air Station with an airship dock on top of the intact highway section above the farm itself. alas, i'm probably never gonna go back and do any of those. but i still had a lot of fun with what i did do.

Building a giant building on Spectacle Island sounds cool. I don't think I ever built there, even after liberating it basically every time I started a game. (I usually take that perk that lets you swim better early on, so you can get around without enemies affecting you too much.) I usually cancel my plans when I realize I just want a place to store my stuff and bringing settlers there just kinda sucks, lmao.

Fun game. I don't think you get guns until about LV12 or something, and that's when the game really feels more enjoyable. Until then, you're bashing zombies with flimsy, jury-rigged clubs with low durability and stuff. Oh, and if you want an easier time, get the perk that lets you kill zombies by stomping their heads. It's great when they climb up things, since they give you a free stomp opportunity (usually).

Been playing it on and off since December and put in probably a few hundred hours on several playthroughs. It's quite a fun game, although it does lack some polish (pop-in while riding a horse is a common complaint) in areas. The best part about KCD is that when you become powerful, you feel like you earned it, since Henry starts off as a friggin' moron with zero proficiency at anything, other than drinking booze.

It's definitely better than its Metacritic suggests, at any rate. It's not an AAA title or anything, but it has a lot of fun characters and a decent (for medieval Bohemia) plot, plus some decent DLC. The difficulty can easily be subverted if you know what to do, though.

yes, i played it, and i spent hundreds of hours with the settlement builder mode doing cool unorthodox builds, like a historically inspired abbey at Abernathy farms, a secure test facility for that transportation device thing at the Castle, and a Minutemen embassy to the BoS at Boston Airport.

it pained me every time someone would shit on the settlement building and then promptly declare that the only thing they used it for were farming shantytowns to get bare minimum happiness for the settlers or whatever. it's like uh yeah of course you thought it was shit, because you didn't have any imagination with it.

Settlement building is what kept the game fun for me, long after it'd normally have been "meh". Turning crappy, garbage zones like Tenpines Bluff into something cool -- like a friendly Yao Guai sanctuary with an Orthanc* tower in the middle -- was more fun than any of the terrible, terrible plot. Definitely shouldn't have charged players to buy in-game assets as "settlement DLC" or whatever the hell that was. Just jacked up the price of the season pass.

Don't forget hiding in a cardboard box, and when a soldier creeps near, you play goat noises to fool him. Classic!

But seriously, its gameplay is fantastic. Even when most of the missions and open-world exploration wore thin, just running around, soloing bases and airports, fultoning soldiers...it's awesome. I'd like to see another stealth series (Splinter Cell?) do a take as good as this one.

By the way...not to bring up bad memories, but Metal Gear Survive was based on MGSV, so I'd assume it has the same gameplay, right? Never did research it much after seeing how stupid the general gist of it was.

Yeah, I liked that one, too. I think my least fave was the one where you go out to the desert and 99% of the targets are ground enemies and planes that haven't taken off. It reminds me of some missions from AC4 and generally wasn't very enjoyable. It was the only one in the game like that, though, IIRC, so the uniqueness stuff does factor in.

I think all the other closers I made transitioned to starting, but only because, for a long time, I thought closers couldn't learn other pitches. Turns out, closers CAN learn pitches, but like everything else, the chances are RNG-based (and maybe based on relationships with other pitchers?). Once I saw that, I kinda gave up on starting and taught him some lateral movement stuff.

As for stamina, closers actually don't get ANY stamina growth unless they do four-out saves or better. My dude's been good enough to occasionally be brought in at weird times, too, like the fourth inning. The perks that give you increased break in later innings, and increased velo when you're losing, are all great for closers.

Also spent way too much time getting my first P22 on normal. Using the HS2K + M4Mod3 method on EX might be faster since you get double droprate doing EX so if you have M4M3 it might be worth holding off farming until you get her from the boxes.

Yeah, that HS2000 skill looks crazy. Might have to feed her combat reports to get her usable for the event.

I wanted to hear all the announcer lines, so it was kinda fun hearing a bunch of them. For instance, there's unique lines if you break Joe D's hit streak record, single-season saves record, RBI records, etc.

I think that screenshot's some office at the stadium, not the dude's house (which you don't have any control over or ever see, for some reason). That's the impression I got, anyway. It'd be nice if they'd let you do some cool stuff with your $$$ since salaries matter very little in the grand scheme of RTTS.

Yeah, save scumming takes some of the fun out of it, but I created him as an answer to the question "What's it like to retire as a HOFer?" The problem is, now that he's gotten this far, I don't want him to retire, lol.

My only character I have that's savescum-free is a third basemen named Solomon Bong. He's the answer to the question "Should I make the announcers call him Smokey Bong?" And that answer was yes.

I think it's on All-Star. When I first started playing, I did Dynamic for batting and pitching, but it got a little tiresome having the game make idiots superpowered or dumbed down.

Despite potential playoff woes, closers have a lot of chances to boost their stats and all the challenges you're given on the fly or by teammates are really easy compared to starters. For instance, a starter might have a "get ten outs with your tertiary pitch" challenges, but to a closer, they'd only need to get two outs. Due to how easy it is to finish those, players can get a solid repertoire after a few years and transition to being a starter if they really want.

My CF beaned someone in the face and caused an injury. That's the only time I've seen my character do that.

Playoffs are definitely more impactful when you're a starting pitcher or batter. As a closer, there have been series where I didn't get put in at all and we lost -- zero chances to play. Gotta reset in those events, but it kinda sucks.

It's only later that I learned of Troy Percival, actually -- I selected a name that just sounded "cool". Kinda nice how we were both California closers. When my dude was younger, he actually got traded from the Tigers to the Dodgers for Clayton Kershaw, lmao.

Every time my dude's ever been injured, I just reset, lmao. Thankfully, if you have a high durability, you rarely get injured, and closers have a high DUR growth rate. It did get subjected to penalties overtime, though, since I'd always maintain my control at the expense of other stuff (speed, H/9, etc.)

I reset after this, but was interested in checking it out since the Orioles traded me unceremoniously in the offseason. Turns out, they put me on a team with one of the only other 99-ranked closers in the league. Not sure what they were thinking there, but whatevs.


Dat slider. I can throw it in the 92MPH range, and have got it up to 95 with certain perks/circumstances. It's some wipeout stuff and my dude got a hundred times better after learning it.
