This is such an odd duck of an album and yet it's kind of oddly endearing. I enjoyed it quite a bit! I have to say though, I think I'm higher on the album as a whole than I am on any individual song. It's this crazy maelstrom of influences that keeps you on your toes the whole time. I ended up putting 2 of the more "traditional" songs at the top of my list, even though I think they're less "interesting" than some of the other songs like Singapore or Big Black Mariah.

Second listen done. This is such an oddly interesting album. It reminds me of how I felt about Silent Shout.

I just watched Wolfwalkers. That was pretty good, in fact, I might even say delightful! I enjoyed the art style and the instrumental song that played during the credits was great! The story was good enough for what it was, though I have to say I wasn't expecting the end to be so completely upbeat/happy.

I got GTA5 free from the Epic Store. I imagine there's quite a few people who got it that way.

Didn't say I necessarily agree with my question, just that that's what it boils down to for a lot of people. Name me a game with a corpse run in the last 5 years that hasn't had that element called "Souls like".

Also, funnily enough, the Shovel Knight devs say that Dark Souls was a big influence on their game.

Just did a first listen to Rain Dogs and...what the fuck did I just listen to?!? I felt like I was at some weird buffet where I have no idea what's on my plate but I'm going to eat it anyway and then onto the next thing. With each song I didn't know if I was going to get blues or jazz or rock or country or even vaudeville.

But you know what? I kinda didn't hate it? Actually I feel like I kind of love it a little.

That voice is certainly something. And now I understand why you'd say great vocalist but (maybe) not great singer. He certainly appears to fit the songs like a glove.

Also, while listening, I thought about 2 other artists. The eclectic nature of the album made me think of Gorillaz, though obviously a very different sound. And then near the end I got to thinking about Springsteen, in terms of the voice and maybe some of the storytelling aspect of the songs. I know, weird, but that's where my brain went.

People consider any 2D sidescroller with even the vaguest of "open world" elements to be a Metroidvania. Basically, it comes down to "do you sometimes go back to an old area to get something"? If yes, people consider it a Metroidvania.

For Souls-likes, the question is "is it kinda hard and/or have a corpse run"? If yes, people consider it a Souls-like.

No surprise, since this is my nomination, but I think this album is fucking great! I've probably listened to it a dozen times in the last 6-8 months and it hasn't gotten old. It's just an album I can turn on and enjoy, front to back. It's poppy, it's upbeat, it's got some cool beats. It's exactly the type of thing I enjoy listening to.

I'm not going to break down each song, but I will say there's a distinctive gap in my mind between the top 3, the middle 4, and the "bottom" 4. And even though I have Boys Will Be Boys ranked last, I "enjoy" the message of that song. Its lyrics resonate because they're sadly still relevant. I know it's a movie about older times but I couldn't help but think of that song when I watched the movie The Last Duel.

I guess with both Tomlin and Belichick, I have to wonder if they can do it without their Hall of Fame QB.

When Brady goes to Tampa and wins a Super Bowl and has another great year the next...it really makes you question how much credit Belichick deserved.

Same thing with Tomlin. I know Ben was injured quite a bit over his tenure but lets see him get to the Super Bowl with some "nobody".

Having said that, they're still both likely near the top of the list.

Who are the best coaches in the NFL right now? The ones that actually make their teams better and don't just win because they have the best players.

By any chance, did you happen to keep track of who nominated each of the 50 albums we've covered so far? I'm interested to know who's noms I've enjoyed the most.

Very interested to see the reaction to Future Nostalgia. It's so damn pop I think it's going to be pretty mixed, a few who love it, a few who hate it because it's not their style, and a few who think it's just "fine" but that it's been overplayed.

Figured I'd get everyone in the mood with a single Dua Lipa did with Kylie Minogue a little while back. It fits with the whole Future Nostalgia vibe.

A really tough choice in the nominations this week. I've not actually heard the full albums of An Innocent Man or Back in Black but I've heard their big hits a million times. And then there's The Beatles, who it's really hard for me to say no to.

Tuned in part way through the 4th set. An amazing comback by Nadal. I thought Medvedev had him after he broke back to get to 5-5 in the 5th but Nadal showed why he's a GOAT.

Also nice that the win put $50 in my pocket. I jumped on Nadal at 10-1 once there was a very strong possibility of Novak missing the tourney. Those odds were far too good with no Novak and the only other big threat being Medvedev.

I didn't think this album was bad, but it also struggled to leave an impact on me. I found most of the songs very easily and quickly forgettable, even though they were all enjoyable to listen too. It just never felt like a song was going to do something special or unique.

I have to echo much of this sentiment, though I think on the whole I'm slightly more positive about it. As I said previously, there's no bad songs here but there's also nothing that really grabbed me. I have a feeling this is more of a slow burn album that probably grows on you over a time frame longer than a week.
