Who are the best coaches in the NFL right now? The ones that actually make their teams better and don't just win because they have the best players.

That Eagles team was so talented that they won the Super Bowl with Nick Foles. I don't think it means Pederson is a good coach, just like nobody thinks Barry Switzer was a good NFL coach because he won a Super Bowl with Jimmy Johnson's players.

...Against Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and a very talented Patriots team.

Also Switzer took over from Jimmy Johnson. Pederson took over from Chip Kelly.

I don't think Pederson is great, but 'good' is definitely not out of the question.

I guess with both Tomlin and Belichick, I have to wonder if they can do it without their Hall of Fame QB.

When Brady goes to Tampa and wins a Super Bowl and has another great year the next...it really makes you question how much credit Belichick deserved.

Same thing with Tomlin. I know Ben was injured quite a bit over his tenure but lets see him get to the Super Bowl with some "nobody".

Having said that, they're still both likely near the top of the list.

You have to have a legit all time great team to win with a mediocre QB (which is why Kubiak doesn't get credit for that Broncos Super Bowl. Everyone knows how great that defense was).

I don't think you need to get to a superbowl with some nobody to be considered a top coach. Players are just more important than a coach imo, I think bill taking the pats to the playoffs this year with a rookie who seems "fine" is good enough to let him retain the crown

Like, what are we gonna blame sean payton for starting jameis winston this year and say his coaching is why they didn't make the playoffs?

It's a cliche top 3 but I'd probably say Belichick, Tomlin, and Payton (okay technically not in the NFL now but) They've all had HoF QBs and talent but they've also shown they can get teams to fight and overperform even when they are missing that (2008 Pats, this year's Pats, Steelers lately with Ben basically a Weekend at Bernie's character, Payton similarly dragging the Brees-less Saints to the verge of the playoffs)

I think the next tier for me would look something like this, no particular order:

Vrabel (Yeah, Titans have King Henry but I've been very impressed how he's had them going these past few years)
Harbaugh
McVay (Harder to tell because he had lots of talent on the team even before they took it to comedy levels this year but hey he got to the Super Bowl with Goff!)
Reid (time management memes aside I have to give props to the breadth of the resume)

I think the fact that they nearly made the playoffs (and probably only didn't because they couldn't play Hill or Siemian for one game) is a huge credit to Payton as a coach.

Well are the 2012 Titans the same skill position wise as the 2022 Titans would be? Nashville has also gotten more popular as a vacation spot.

Rodgers will end up with the Washington Commanders. Following in the Top Pick of the draft he was drafted in, he goes to do what Alex Smith could not. Stay alive in Washington for an entire season.

Wherever he ends up (or if he stays in Green Bay) it'll be pretty funny if its not Denver. Because I get the feeling Denver hired Hackett in hopes he'd come with Aaron Rodgers. Even if it is only for about two years.

Yeah, it's very unlikely that Rodgers gets traded within the NFC since he's not a free agent. The Packers still control where he goes (or if he goes anywhere).

I mean I was joking, but I don't think it's that unlikely that he gets traded to an NFC team, especially if an NFC team offers the right price. I mean are they really going to say no to a huge haul, just because they might have to face Rodgers in the playoffs at some point in the future? Besides, he's on the wrong side of 30 for a Quarterback to be a long term solution. I'd say he's got maybe 4 more years left in him.

Rodgers is probably gone from wherever he's sent in 2-3 seasons.

I'd just take the best out of division offer from most teams.

Though I wouldn't send him to Tampa and let just him replace Brady.

Rodgers going to another NFC North team is absolutely out of the question. No way would Gutekunst and Lafleur allow him to join a hated rival. He could end up in another division in the NFC, of course.

Teams that he'll never go to are:
Bears
Viqueens
Lions
Cowboys/McCarthy
Teams with a QB (so Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, Cardinals, Rams, and probably others)

Packers still hold the right to trade him where they want to, but because his deal needs to be restructured (his cap hit is ridiculous), he can demand a trade since he has that leverage. He didn't have the same leverage last year.

I just want this to be done with. There has already been more than enough negative press covfefe. If he leaves, he leaves. I'm ambivalent at this point since while I love his abilities, he's still a dick at the end of the day, and his toxic Prima Donna attitude can go.

Even if the Cowboys didn't have McCarthy, they're paying Dak too much money to trade for Rodgers because the Packers value draft picks over actual players (which is why I don't think he ends up in San Francisco. They traded all their draft capital to get Lance).
