I got to see a concert live back in 2016, took a date to it. Was beyond fun

I remember when Gerstmann once told us all that Anime Is For Jerks that changed my life.

The internet definition and the mainstream definition differ ever so slightly, but tends to completely change the group the term is trying to appeal too.

• Mainstream Definition: Adult Male, typically past college age, that cant get a woman to have sex with them due to lifestyle choices that cause them to be undesirable mates.

Its such a superficial detail, but the various hordes of terminally online internet people both wanted to join in on the fun of poking at pathetic disenfranchised men, but also wanted to make sure that the term didnt also refer to themselves.

Twitter basically changed the definition by tacking on that misogyny stipulation just so that they themselves couldnt be classified as incels.

Regardless the vast majority of mainstream society dont make that distinction.

I got promoted to quarterback as a freshman. My school was terrible in Football. The fact that when the senior quarterback went down with an injury that they had to promote one of the whopping four shitty freshmen quarterbacks is saying a lot.

We didnt win a single game, but I was treated fairly well on campus. Or at least until wrestling season started. We were stupid good at wrestling, and the older kids were jealous assholes who hazed the fuck out of me.

I oddly enough went down with a legit injury my sophomore year that kept me out of Football Season. But I milked it so I had an excuse not to wrestle because wrestling season was just so hard, absolutely hell, and the older guys were like gods for paying their dues while you were rightfully treated like a peasant.

I was physically beat up. Constantly harassed. Dry humped. Humiliated. Forced to basically be the older guys slave.

Unfortunately for me, coach still made me attend and sit on the sidelines of every practice. Had I missed one Id have been off the team. They also knew I was milking the injury. So I was relentlessly bullied, and beat up but out of love. Tough love. Technically these guys would have my back during the school day if I ever needed it, I just never did.

Something changed in my head at that time. I felt shame, and I couldnt look myself in the mirror anymore knowing I was a pussy. I became an entirely different person.

I worked very hard in the off season to make up the wrestling season I lost out on. It included waking up at the crack of dawn to take public busses with sometime rides totaling 6+ hours to off season wrestling practices & tournaments.

My junior year, we had a transfer that was actually a good quarterback so I quit Football, and just concentrated on wrestling.

Ultimately I placed in state twice, and went on to become a two time all-American in college. Then did mma for a few years, and that opened up doors yo get into a career in tech. To this day Im the only person from my high school to all-American in any sport. My picture hangs in their trophy case, as a part of their athletics hall of fame.

My 20 year is coming up this summer. Cant wait. But yea, my transition came from getting relentlessly bullied, and choosing yo confront it, rather than run away from it.

Even if its been decades, if you still have PTSD then I recommend confronting that trauma anyway you can. Ignoring it and giving into fatalism is not the way my homies.

I ended up having what they call a Xanny Blackout it was absolutely surreal trying to trace my steps back.

It's fine to have genuine concern for people and I know a lot of people have trouble accepting things they don't consider the "norm" but it's something we as a society need to continue to work on for the sake of people that fall outside of what we consider normal.

My overall reply to the quoted post is that I completely disagree with you. Social norms, and various mainstream taboos exist for a reason. There is also very real consequences for refusing to try and adapt to them.

You cant put everything into a specific box, and MOST (not all) things nuance to them. But for the most part, we as a society shouldnt just leave these people to their own devicesthats both dangerous and selfish.

We shouldnt leave people behind. We should support eachother to help them live their best lives. Homeboy from the article aint living his best life and thats the entire point of the article.

Regardless my advice was sincere. Its possible that it missed the mark and wont be of any actual helpbut it was sincere nonetheless.

My bad. Its my stupid university talking. I took a class called Christian Apologetics so that word is stuck in my linguistics. I forget its not a common word.

If anyones wondering that class was a train wreck. The whole thing was about how to arguing with non-chrustians and how to tear apart their arguments so you can win the debate and defend the legitimacy of the Bible.

I took it as a troll, and was the Devils Advocate so it was me and my friend vs a classroom of about 40.

I got a C- that I later was able to get up to a C+ due to perfect attendancewhich was rare, as I often skipped class. But this one was just so fun.

Apologetics is just a snobby way of saying debate on behalf of it doesnt mean apologizing in the since of saying youre sorry because you did anything wrong.

@IfGodCouldDie I feel you. If someone is truly happy, then Ill bit out of their life. Its only when I see someone struggling that I start to question their life choices, because in my mind that person needs help. I think its quite obvious in this case that the dude is both depressed and ashamed of his life.

I mean I'm married with children and used to be super social. At this point I hate socializing and only really do it to benefit my children because being the parent that nobody likes is bad for your kids. I just don't think speaking for other people makes you as altruistic as you think it does

Brotherman, Im totally sincere when I say this

that sounds a little bit like depression sinking in. A Mid-Crisis can come in many forms. Its not just about blowing your savings on a Lamborghini, or starting a rock band out of your garage. Most mid-life crises comes from just being tired and exhausted from the life youve lived thus far. Sometimes there is regret, but most of the time it just comes from wanting more out of life

So some men buy big boats, or get girlfriends that could be their daughter. Others just get depressed from thinking about it, and then they retreat to get lost in the daydreams they cultivate to deal with that empty feeling.

Maybe consider this might be the case. If so, then get a journal and start hitting things down to better understand your own thoughts. Eventually sit down with your wife and discuss what youve discovered.

Or just, tell me to bigger off I guess. Either one is better than apologizing the situation thats illustrated within that Reddit post.

This is quite honestly the most ridiculous thing Ive ever seen come out if GameFaqs.

Sealioning, while probably a real thing, shouldn't be a moddable offense. You can't mod someone for holding polite discourse, unless it's egregious. Meaning, unless it's absolutely offensive.

For instance, there is no way in hell that you can politely argue your stance as to why people of a certain skin color shouldn't be allowed to vote. If something ever actually happened, that would be extremely offensive. But thats not whats happening...

...from what I observed, on GameFaqs "sea lioning" is deemed trolling when its "1 vs 100" on any subject, where the minority opinion holder doesn't relent, and the it angers the people in the topic.

Meaning, that if I am to go into a topic where 99% of the people within that topic have the same opinion, and I present a contrarian view, and its met with grave resistance, and rather than retreating I continue to politely argue that point...then its almost sealioning...but not quite. Once the other people get triggered enough to start hurling vitriolic insults, and the person continues to be polite rather than break character and mudsling back...now its sealioning.

Without the people being upset and losing their cool, its not sea lioning, its just a discussion. Also, if there are more than just a single person with the contrarian view, then it's not sea lioning, its still just a discussion.

The criteria for Sea Lioning on GameFaqs seems to be:

• A single contrarian voice
• The other users in the topic losing their cool over said voice
• That single contrarian voice continuing despite it being known his view is unwanted

Can a sea lion be annoying? Sure. Is it moddable? Currently yes, as homeboy got about 10 posts deleted all at once, and at no point did he ever lose his cool or attack anyone. Should it be moddable though? I say "no" -- it's too arbitrary. Who's to say that wasn't the guys real opinion?

One could argue, well, then why didn't anyone else share his view? Thats pretty easy to answer though, because people who cultivate on Current Events tend to have similar opinions on stuff, that why they gravitate to this place, to be among like minded people with similar interests.

Then once could argue, well why didn't he leave the discussion when it was clear that nobody else respected his opinion? He totally could have, and maybe he should have, but are we really about to make such a thing a moddable offense? That someone isn't allowed to have a dissenting opinion?

It is just too arbitrary.

Yeah this was pretty normal when you break it down like that when you're a senior in highschool. Usually I saw girls that were 16 dating guys who were 19-21 mostly not the 18 and 14. It's wrong overall yeah, but it's also not unheard of at least back in the 00s. Idk about today.

I also went to very big high school. My Junior year they took half the freshman, and half the sophomores (based on location) and made them the inaugural class of a brand new school. Then they did it again a year later to kick start another school.

Originally the senior class at my school when I was an incoming Freshman had well over 1,000 kids. I think my class was around the 800 mark. I remember sitting next to two people as I wait to grab my diploma having never before met them in my entire life, only to find out we did four years together.
