I feel like the discord and other site might function as liferafts but I don't think they will last forever

reddit isn't super good. i checked out /r/visual novels and half the front page is weekly threads posted by automoderator. i assume if I post a thread, it might get 1 or two posts and drop off since reddit is upvote based

4chan doesn't seem good. when you get a small discussion going you have to follow the links of >numbers and it gets messy. maybe if i create a thread its better, it seems like people stick to generals though so its harder to get a specific topic going

twitter, facebook, tik tok etc are completely unexplored territory for me. i probably wont ever try those. but they seem individual based rather than topic based. and i assume as soon as I click something ive now got an algorithm that will decide what I see instead of just letting me see random things

CE seemed perfect for this purpose. just browse through the threads, anyone could ask anything and have a discussion, even on niche things from a decade ago

4chan seems like its past its heydey as well. ive never really used it, i dunno how it would go if you created a new thread to discuss something inane like a VN you are reading

discord is popular but whenever i post there it feels like im changing the topic or killing another discussion

reddit is a pain to use. how do you see all the most recent messages across multiple threads? i can post my own thread and then get maybe 3 messages tops before people move onto the next newest thread

im sure when dtoast was handed the reigns, sballen gave him the tl;dr
they'd talk about it within the fandom marketing team or whoever dtoast works for

I was already considering an Ayaneo or something but I had reservations around a smaller chinese company that released many models every year or two and didn't support them that long

Shit, I just woke up and saw this. Yeah, this is one of the final nails in the coffin for GameFAQs boards. It's not as if this site was thriving before this decision with dwindling visitors though.

Where does everyone go these days? Discord or something? I tried a while back but I just wasn't feeling it.

I haven't had any issues with gaming as of recent. When you install Proton-GE, everything on Steam just works. There's also Heroic which serves as a GOG/Epic Games launcher. I've noticed emulators run better, too. I've been playing a lot of Starfield and ESO and they run just as well as they do on Windows.

I've heard of things like people getting banned in some online games cause some DRM for the game didn't work properly in Linux and things of that nature. Along with the software around gaming not working the best, although I admit I haven't actually tried with my setup. I mostly just don't want to spend a whole lot of time getting stuff to work

Chao Garden 2 was always the best game in the sonic franchise. The sonic stage shit relegated to a minigame to collect resources for the true game

The key is finding a way to keep the stakes high that makes sense in the narrative

although I do like the idea of buildings basically being small towns. a few skyscrapers close together, the lower floors containing businesses and store etc, the higher floors containing the apartments for the people who live and work there. then everything in your life is within walking distance. just take the elevator down to a lower floor, or in a worst case, to the ground floor then walk across the street

I then read chaos;head (not noah whatever that is) and I loved the first half but the second half after they introduced those giant swords or whatever got a bit dumb IMO, I forgot a lot of what happened in this entry though.

more funding for public education in general
