I get what the writers were going for--Ra's sacrificed sure footing for a killing stroke, which is a cool little plot thing, but even then, in the earlier scene that it was referencing, Ra's didn't just leave Bruce to freeze to death after knocking the ground out from under him, lol. I mean, I guess Bruce might have pulled himself out but still.

So hebfeels the only decision that can actually carry weight is to destroy the entire multiverse.

That wouldn't matter since there exists an alternate universe where he decides not to destroy the multiverse.

But I see what you are saying. In the end he says it doesn't really matter when his plan is foiled and I assume it's because he assumes a alternate world we be made where he succeeds

I HATE multiverse and time traveling plot lines. Its a license to do whatever the fuck you want with the story instead of being creative.

Multi universes absolutely reduces the stakes, and makes each individual less valuable.

I would disagree. Alt universe Barry Allen isn't the same Barry Allen. He's lived his own life has his own memories etc.

But an infinite multiverse means infinite exact clones of you.

And I mean exact. Down to what you thought this morning at 8:15:33 am.

It's not just about you vs your evil clone vs your ice clone.

Atom exact duplicates. Infinity of them.

But it's not the same. If your say mother died and they clouded her and managed to get all her memories in there would you feel she was your mother?

I think at a point you become familiar enough with the illusion of fiction that it doesn't matter. Character dies, character comes back: it's just the resurrection trope. They couldn't resurrect themselves because they're not a Messianic figure, and the setting doesn't allow for necromancy, so they went with an alternate universe copy. In three episodes it won't matter if they're "the same one" anymore, because that was never the point.

How often do alt universe characters actually stick around permanently? They have other ways to bring characters back from the dead. Barry Allen out running death. Superman punching a hole in reality causing Jason to come back etc.

I dunno.

They generally don't stick around terribly often.

And if I'm being real, time travel bothers me way more than multiverse. Because most of the time, with time travel, the rules end up with the writer stubbing their toe somewhere.
