"It's just throwing money away!" The tickets are like $2... I think most people can afford $2 once in a while. It's not something you're meant to play every drawing. Most people probably throw away more money on a weekly basis on coffee, fast food, cigarettes, alcohol, etc.; I bet they could fit $2 every few months into their budget.

"It's only worth it if it's a high jackpot!" Uh, what difference does it make if you only win $100 million instead of $700 million? It's a several thousand percent return either way if you win. Plus the high jackpots that get a lot of publicity end up with more players, which means a higher possibility that it ends up splitting winners anyway.

I would love to see any place selling $2 alcohol and cigarettes.

I don't think it's really "lazy" to increase ticket revenue by a couple orders of magnitude while reducing operating costs and freeing up cops to fight more serious crime than speeding. That's just being efficient.

I kinda agree with TC because at this point the PS4 is best selling console for this gen and Sony fanboys believe that all major titles should be release on the PS4 and keep exclusive titles on the PS4. Now that a major JRPG title is exclusive to the Switch, Sony fanboys felt betrayed by SquareEnix that the PS4 is not getting this game.

At this point, I do agree that Sony fans are getting too spoiled not realizing that the PS4 has great exclusive JRPGs like Persona 5 and other games with RPG elements that are not on the Xbox One and Switch. I guess that having the most exclusive titles is not enough for them. I'm glad that this game is exclusive for the Switch.

At this point most gamers should have more than one consoles if they don't want to miss out on exclusive titles. I have a PS4, Switch, and built my own gaming PC so I have nothing to worry about missing exclusive titles.

It was always enforced. They just got harsher more recently. Plus they also didn't have the proper manpower to patrol the entire border and technically still don't.

My grandma is essentially a walking Texas stereotype. 5 seconds of her and I immediately want to hang up the phone.

Meanwhile I run into someone outside of starbucks and strike up a conversation, and I find out that she's super sick of bigots too, and she comes off as a really kind person with similar interests.

I've never seen her since, but that conversation we had meant a hell of a lot more than just about any time I've spent with my extended family on my moms side.

there's an interesting ethical question about starting to enforce a law that was never enforced before.

it's similar to speeding tickets, just in this case on a staggeringly bigger scale.

there are places in the city where there are never speed traps, or maybe if there are, they're easy to avoid. since everyone "knows" this, everyone speeds in those areas. some days there can be 10-15 cars all barelling through an 80kph zone at 105kph or more.

ok, but what happens when for the first time in 10-15 years, all of a sudden there's a new effective speed trap there, and the cops get to write hundreds of tickets per day for a few days or more. the people wouldn't have broken the law if the law had been enforced in the first place.

Wouldn't matter. People would still speed. Your example is like piracy. People get fined for it and still do it.
