I don't get how he can claim the republican platform is "at least we're not as bad as the democrats" when the democratic platform is "at least we're not as bad as republicans" and democrats are screaming that we're one election away from full-blown fascism. Clearly something is being accomplished if republicans can do this much damage.

The difference is that the Democrat platform still has actual policies that they stand for

Probably because movies are more expensive now, the days of people seeing any old superhero B-lister are over. People are only gonna spend money on characters they know, so we might be back to only Batman/Spider-man/Superman etc. movies. Oh well, at least thanks to the MCU, the pool of superheroes the mainstream knows about have been expanded.

They can do B-listers, but they need to learn how to work with smaller budgets and get more creative and resourceful with their filmmaking approach. Something like Blade doesn't need to be a $250 million movie, and I wouldn't even call him a B-lister.

Fox did A LOT of things wrong when it came to the X-Men movies, but I'll give them props for at least attempting the psychological horror angle with New Mutants. They didn't have to film expensive action set pieces so they could keep the budget low

Looking at Wikipedia, it seems the other two girls are Anya Corazon/Spider-Girl and Mattie Franklin/Spider-Woman. Mattie Franklin is J. Jonah Jameson's niece in the comics, so maybe they'll make that connection here.

The only one of these characters who has enough pull for a successful movie is Venom, and even then he should probably be properly introduced in a Spider-Man project.

"Make America Great Again" is, first and foremost, an acknowledgment that America is in a shitty state, and that messaging resonated greatly with disgruntled, working-class whites who already held racist views. In other words, people who are indeed suffering under late-stage capitalism, but are too bigoted, miseducated and misinformed to correctly identify the problem.

It's literally the same exact strategy Hitler used to get people to rally behind the Nazis, hence why the party masqueraded as "National Socialists".

Correct. Because the vast majority of "criminals" aren't going out and committing crimes just for shits and giggles. They're doing so because they don't have access to the resources they need and the prison system doesn't even attempt to address this.

A lot of people don't differentiate. A child molester and someone with a few ounces of pot are both "criminals" and the Tough On Crime crowd doesn't usually dig past that. "Criminals" deserve what they get, so the beatings and rapes have become an acceptable and even expected aspect of "justice".

A lot of people in America (ESPECIALLY conservatives) have a black-and-white perspective on criminals. You're either a criminal or you're not. No room for nuance or severity.

I could be mistaken, but I thought it was the higher-ups that wanted to cut out a lot of the darker scenes from Love and Thunder to make it more comedic and lighthearted.

At very least, it seems like Christian Bale thought Love and Thunder was going to be a much different film from what was actually released.
