So I binged the rest of Them Season 2 and honestly? Pretty outstanding. Compelling plot. The directing, like the first season, is outstanding (look out for freaking Ti West directing the finale). It does a lot of really clever things with the plot where I expected on thing, and they gave it to me but then also added a twist to it. And then ANOTHER twist to it later.

The scares are great, but admittedly better earlier in the season than later. I also feel like the plot kind of unravels slightly towards the end. But I can't say I'm disappointed for a show that I didn't even expect a second season of. But now I hope it keeps getting more. Because damn, this is a strong show.

Yeah that dropped completely out of nowhere. I liked the first season a lot. Definitely let me know about the quality because I heard it's a little iffy and I'd rather spend my time watching Shogun right now I think.
Okay well absolutely spend your time watching Shogun first because there isn't much that touches Shogun in quality.

Three episodes into Them: The Scare and it still holds up. I have absolutely no idea where this show is going but it's doing a lot of really good stuff.

So out of nowhere, Amazon's Them came out with another season.

Just watched the first episode but holy fuck that was an outstanding first episode. It's black horror, and so far it absolutely rules. I'll let everyone know if it keeps up the quality.

Got around to it.

Yeah, this one is quite good. I liked it a lot; very tense and it was like 50 minutes before I could even tell who the bad guy was. Even though I was able to correctly predict a few things about this movie at that point, I still really enjoyed the presentation. I bet the budget was smaller here with this one, but this is exactly how you do it. I really love these one location horrors lately.
Glad you checked it out! Just such a really cool film on a shoe string budget. It's just an awesome script that knows how to keep you on the edge. Hoping this team of directors blows up because they were awesome. It really makes me have a ton of faith in these indy movies with no budget can still end up being so damn good.

Yo The First Omen was actually amazing I thought. Extremely satisfied with this one. Tons of horror imagery that will stick with me, and the plot was actually outstanding. Very impressive from a director's first actual film outing.

I think Nell Tiger Free, who folks may know from Servant, was completely outstanding here. For as good as Sydney Sweeney was in Immaculate, I think Nell was many times better. She's just incredibly talented and people ought to take notice of how good she was in this film. The range she had was so good. I got serious Mia Goth vibes in that she feels like an actress that puts on these great performances and just needs someone to give her that big break.

Absolutely amazed that this movie also teased a sequel. No, not the original movie, but a side story. Lol I would love to see it, but it's questionable since this movie has only just beat its budget now. But I'll follow this director going forward.

I watched Baghead that just came out on Shudder.

Overall, a pretty good movie! Some legitimately chilling stuff in it. The plot was enough that it kept you guessing through quite literally the entire movie. Lots of surprises in it.

To give a quick description, a girl inherits her father's pub, where there's a woman with a bag over her head trapped down there. She can turn into dead people, but if she's changed for too long then she starts to become deadly.

It's a unique idea, and I love those. A strong showing from Shudder. They've been having a strong group of Shudder Exclusives lately! I recommend it!

The best Goosebumps stuff is that TV show that came out last year! But they decided to make it an anthology series now which... kinda sucks honestly since these characters were all great and they set up for the story to continue.

Also, I saw Immaculate yesterday. Outstanding movie! Exceeded my expectations! Sydney Sweeney was great and it was just a basic film of an immaculate conception that went places I didn't expect, and it was quite a grisly affair. I actually really recommend this one.

Yoooo guys, go out of your way to watch You Will Never Find Me on Shudder.

It's a movie about a girl who goes to find shelter in a guy's house during a terrible thunder storm. It's an extremely claustrophobic horror movie that stays in that single set piece and it flew past any expectations you have. Such a tightly wound and clever script that left me thinking I had the answers multiple times. Incredible last act of the movie. And the cinematography on this one is excellent too.

Check this one out. It's really special.

Whoo Outer Range is coming back on May 16!

For those unaware, it stars a lot of great actors like Josh Brolin, Will Patton, Imogen Poots, Lewis Pullman, and Tom Pelphrey.

It's about these two feuding ranches in Texas where a giant hole appears out of nowhere on their contested property. And from there, weird stuff keeps happening, especially with things that fall into it. It was an extremely good horror series and I've been so excited for season 2.

It's absolutely worth going out of your way for! Incredibly chilling stuff in it, really engaging drama, wildly unpredictable, and the cinematography is just outstanding.

It's on Amazon Prime! Here's a trailer for the first season!

Trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 1 is out. It's literally just the same movie as the original. Lmao hope they surprise us but I dunno man.

They have three of these movies already filmed and ready, and they're actualizing the idea they intended to do for Fear Street, which is that they're releasing all three movies this year. I really don't know if this is the franchise to make this kind of idea succeed, but it should be interesting to follow.

So I am once again recommending a show to watch. Constellation is on Apple TV and actually outstanding. It stars Noomi Rapace as an astronaut, and something hits their space station and forces them all to evacuate. She has to stay behind though, and she sees a lot of strange things happening. It's regarding some kind of experiment being run on there and a former astronaut and now researcher, played by Jonathan Banks, is in charge of that research. She eventually gets back onto Earth, but she's slowly losing it and she remembers things a lot differently.

It's not a full on horror, but it has a ton of horror elements. It's a big mystery that I think has been incredible at four episodes so far. There's some legit chilling stuff in this show. So if anyone wants to dare a TV show, I recommend it!

I watched Night Swim yesterday.

It was, in fact, bad. But not terrible. It's just... a movie that you shouldn't try to make a feature length movie. It has some good visuals but nothing feels... good? Interesting? Extremely forgettable.

I feel like a better movie could be made out of this, but I don't get paid to know how. I wasn't bored, at least. I grant it that.

yeah this is the easy way to do it

You could also have had mutants/X-Men somehow "hidden" from the SHIELD / the entire MCU for the last forty years, via trapped in an alternate universe/space crystal /tardis. The first X-Men film could be set in the past and explain why they've been missing all this time.

So I watched an ABC News thing talking about the Jonathan Majors title, and it had videos as well and talked about what happened in the trial itself.

So what it seems like is that Jonathan Majors' girlfriend was very drunk during this whole time, and she was trying to run out into traffic, and he was forcibly throwing her back into the car a few times. It was then that she got the injuries, and that's why it was reckless assault in the third degree. The jury agreed it was unintentional. However, there's also video of him running away from her and them fighting over his phone, which she was trying to take away from him, and she had injuries on a couple of her fingers too over this. The whole thing appears to have started with her thinking he was texting another girl.

During the trial, he had those insane text messages and the jury agreed those were harassment, but the harassment charge isn't even a criminal charge. It's like a parking ticket; it doesn't go on your record or anything.

What I found interesting was that Jonathan Majors didn't take the stand in court. He would have had to explain those insane text messages, and it seemed like he wanted to avoid that. Which is fair. However, had he taken the stand, he might have been able to explain his side more clearly about her taking his cell phone, among other things. It may have helped, but it may have hurt.

But what I think was the biggest screw up is that his counsel decided to go with the strategy of questioning his girlfriend's injuries and talking about how they weren't that bad which is a decent direction to go (even if the images show she absolutely was hurt), but they didn't argue that he had a right to self defense and a lawful right to use force to get his property back. It seems like they wanted to present Majors as having done nothing wrong at all and had never really hurt her that much, but they could have said "Even if he DID hurt her though..." and rattled off that argument. I think if they made that argument, he may have actually been found not guilty of everything. But it was never a thought in the jury's mind that he could have been acting lawfully if she took his phone, so they didn't factor it in.

I kind of understand the insane text messages if he felt he was going to lose everything over this, which he did. Especially since everything points to him not intentionally harming her and just trying to keep her from hurting herself further and trying not to let her take his cell phone. Things escalated, a lot of it by her acting recklessly by being drunk. It's a sad situation.

Ugh, I just went on Twitter and everyone is reporting that he was just guilty of assault and harassment, which while true, is definitely missing the important detail that it's reckless assault, not intentional. And them all saying he's facing up to a year of jail time which, while true that third degree assault can have up to a year of jail time, it's so incredibly rare and he's just going to get a fine.

I think it's important to stress these details because people are going to think he just maliciously beat her or something and that if he gets less than jail time, it will be because he's a celebrity receiving special treatment.

Social media sucks.
