Technically, that would be a non violent crime i think as long as a gun wasn't drawn since you couldn't charge them with assault or anything along those lines if the person willingly relinquished their car without a threat being made. Thats actually an interesting scenario because I'm not sure what charges the perpetrator would face in that instance

I am just trying to understand your definition of violence, because I don't right now, and things I don't understand interest me. I don't have an ulterior motive here. I agree that it is a serious crime. In my mind, it would be considered violence because there's an implicit threat of harm that will be worse the less they comply with my orders.

I do not think all violence is bad or all involuntary detainment is bad, just that involuntary detainment obtained by the threat of even greater bodily harm if they resist is a form of violence.

What I'm curious about here is your definition of violence. Do you perceive impersonating a cop to steal someone's vehicle as a serious non-violent crime or a serious violent crime?

Because a routine arrest isn't supposed to result in a firearm being used. Citizens understand that if you break the law, you are placed under arrest and if you comply that nothing should happen. If a stranger approaches you and reveals they have a weapon and tells you to get in their van it's definitely an implied threat that harm will come to you whether you comply or not

i want to understand your viewpoint here though. can you point out which of the differences between those two scenarios make one violent and one non-violent?

The concept seems nice enough, but in practice, it'd be too easy to get around to make any real difference. Cap it at $1 billion, and you just get multibillionaires paying some random people $10,000 a year each to hold on to $500 million for them until they want to access it, or continuing to hide it in offshore tax havens like they currently do to avoid paying taxes on it, or even just giving it away to friends and family members instead of letting it be taxed away and used for public benefit. It wouldn't be impossible to make it work, but it's going to entail outfoxing a whole lot of very highly-paid accountants and lawyers, and the sheer cost of the audits required to enforce it long-term could very well outweigh the potential benefits.

this is a flaw of the western conception of criminal justice, not TC's idea. we know who they are, simply execute them or send them to a labor camp

You could state that a pie with no filling has no filling that isn't apple in it, even though it ALSO has no apple filling either. I wouldn't qualify that pie as an apple pie though, although in theory you could call it a fillingless apple pie, which is basically just a pie crust, and you can imagine that it was meant to be an apple pie, so therefore it's a fillingless apple pie.

A police force with no officers though, could actually still be an all female police force because, well, all the female officers were killed. There are currently no officers in the force, but the force is still all female (so any future officers that join would also be female).

That being said, if you had an all female police force, you probably WOULD also have apple pie, and it would even have filling and probably whipped cream on top as well.

I hope the all-female police force has a non-zero number of husbands for me to fuck while they're out on patrol

I think the arg "It is not an all-female police force because a police force must definitionally have police officers" is more compelling to me because it is logically valid. But I still disagree with its premise since I can imagine a police force with no officers.

I think this is an interesting point - I would say that it turns on how you define "all apple" pie.

I could certainly say "all of the filling in this pie crust is apple" but I don't think I could say that the empty pie crust is "an apple pie".

For a police force, I don't think a police force with zero officers is like a pie with no filling. For example, a futuristic police force could still be considered a police force if it exclusively used autonomous drones. It would be strange to call those drones "police officers" if they didn't identify as individuals. But a pie with no filling seems to me that it is missing a constitutive element of piehood

You could also try approaching it from the other direction - meditation, therapy, or depressants (e.g alcohol, benzos) can help you manage the anger.

vyvanse or adderall XR might be easier to manage for you. It's the same thing as adderall but it's longer-lasting with a less severe 'spike' because it's mixed with lysine to slow absorption.

There's also ritalin/concerta.

Strattavera is a non-stimulant that's prescribed for ADD, but it's hot garbage in my experience.

Caffeine is better than nothing but you need so much caffeine for it to really work for ADD that hte side effects are awful. And I'm sure you've tried it anyway.

I also like microdosing psychedelics, but that's not really soemtihng you can do every day, and it only helps me to concentrate on things that have some kind of creative element (it doesn't have to be a lot... like psychedelics will help me code or organize my house, they just won't help me fill out paperwork or do taxes)

The other thing that helps me is writing shit down -- I constantly have distracting and insane thoughts, I just have to write them down somewhere. I use twitter/this site/friends who are used to dealing with it for this, but I think you could also use a journal if you don't like embarassing yourself as much as I do

(source: I have insanely bad ADHD and I'm pretty productive anyway. I've tried pretty much everything to manage it)
