I don't think I have met anyone by the name Karen before.

John soyboi waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were karens in the checkout. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to manager Joson were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway.
John was a barista for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the espresso and he said to dad "I want to be on the coffeeshop daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY KARENS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the coffee base of the mainstreet he knew there were karens.
"This is Joson" the radio crackered. "You must help the karens!"
So John gotted his stirrer and frothed up the milk.
"HE GOING TO MESS UP" said the Karen's.
"I will call his manager" said the cyberkaren and she flailed her sunglesses. John served a latte and tried to calm her down. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to drink.
"No! I must finish this line of karens" he shouted
The radio said "No, John. You are the karens"
And then John was a cat lady.

I'm pretty sure one of my co-workers is a Karen, but she is a self-aware Karen so I give her a pass.

Not many. Most of the difficult customers we get are just weird, rather than falling into Karen territory (that is to say, having a sense of entitlement that causes them to treat customer service people with undeserved disdain), and even then, difficult customers are a pretty tiny proportion of the people that come in. Our customer base is pretty solid, by and large.

Not many. I think they mainly use grubhub to order so we don't actually have to deal him them. I imagine they are the ones ordering rainbow bagels and caramel lattes using the special instructions since we don't offer those items on the menu since we don't have them. It's quite comical.

Well, the issue with working retail is that you deal with a lot of customers. Most are benign and just want to get their stuff and leave, but every once in a while you deal with a customer that's EXTREMELY entitled and believes that the store or employee should cater to their every whim. Sometimes they're running a scam or trying to get free stuff, sometimes they're being rude and expecting employee's to just bend over, sometimes they're just being completely unreasonable, and sometimes it's something else... but they tend to have certain traits in common (such as being upper-middle class white women in their late 30's to 40's with a specific haircut that I think is called 'chic'). They frequently escalate any incident to management or try to go over managements head the moment they don't get exactly what they demand. So you might have a kid running loose in the store knocking clothes off racks and trashing mannequins, approach the mother to try and get her to bring her son under control, and then she'll fly off the hook at you and claim you are trying to tell her how to raise her son and then demand to speak to your manager where she'll then demand to have you fired and to get $200 of expensive clothes for free to cover 'emotional damages' all while her kid continues to be a little hellion. No, this did not happen to me, just something I saw.

My own stories involved a woman coming up to try and buy a can of tuna but provided a coupon for salmon that was expired, 2 for 1, and a different brand entirely (IIRC the coupon was for Chicken of the Sea while she was trying to buy Bumblebee). Obviously I refused and she screeched for management. When the manager came they gave her the discount and she was back the following day trying to pull the exact same thing.

There was also this guy who took a photo of a coupon and demanded we use the photo to give him 50% off his purchase without the coupon being present. A woman who tried to get an employee fired because her baby took a toothbrush off the rack and the employee asked for it back so they could put it back. A woman who tried to get another person fired for saying 'the black woman in aisle X needs assistance' when a customer asked for help with something (not over a loudspeaker or anything, straight to the manager). One who tried to pick a fight with an off-duty employee who was trying to buy some food for their upcoming shift (they weren't even in uniform yet). A man who tried to get an employee fired for 'not being polite enough' and proceeded to pee all over the bathroom floor. My favorite is the 'Pill Monkeys' who would bring in massive stacks of coupons for '$10 of 100 count' of a coupon, buy the cheap 10 counts (which cost, like, 2-3 bucks) in massive amounts, then get off with paying, like, $1.20 for our entire inventory. We had to outright change our entire policy for that and put in limits on how many pills could be purchased by one person. We got a nearly-identical scam done by their wives but with laundry soap instead of pills. Massive amounts of a mismatched product that the computer would still accept and, if the employee objected to them buying 60 bottles of detergent for less than the price of a Big Mac because of the massive wad of coupons they tried to use, they'd demand the manager over and try to pressure the manager into overriding them. If it worked or not depended on the manager until eventually the store manager told all the shift leads that they needed to refuse sales like that and should actually listen to their cashiers every once in a while.

I work corporate IT so I don't generally deal with Karens (in fact most customers are grateful to see me because it means their problems are being fixed), but I do get them on occasion. I had one woman complain to my boss because I showed up unannounced at her cubicle instead of making an appointment. I guess she didn't want anyone knowing she wasn't actually doing any work. So the next time I got a trouble ticket from her I just marked it as "waiting on vendor", which stops the clock and freezes the ticket indefinitely.

20 years ago I worked as a manager for a computer store and I had someone call in complaining about the terrible computer we sold her and how she'd brought it in so many times to get it fixed. This didn't sound familiar (it was a very small shop) so I tried to look her name up in the computer but didn't find anything. Finally I asked if she was calling the correct store. She started cussing me out and finally said "You're the one next to the mall". And I replied, "The closest mall is 15 minutes away. You're calling the wrong store."

It's sporadic how many of them I get to deal with at my department, so I can't really quantify it per day nor per week. I won't try longer periods than that.

I think people need to change using "Karen" to something that isn't someone's name, rather then continue insulting people that happen to be named Karen. We have Karen's of all colors out there, lets not lump them in with the Idiots. Let's try Privileged Lying Idiot or PLI (fly) for short. At least it acknowledges and pegs them as the pest they are.

Never had any in the times I've dealt with customers although granted that wasn't much as I was mostly in the back when working in retail and my others jobs have been warehouse.

None. I typically deal with 2 or more tweakers a day though, I prefer the tweakers.

Lady was bitching about her washer and dryer because we didnt deliver it the day she wanted it. I didnt hear it, but when we got back to the yard, supervisor said she was freaking out. Next day he made driver call her, so it must have been bad if he didnt want to call. Driver confirmed and said she was swearing a bunch. She was fine when we got there.

Funny thing is it was up to us which order we did the deliveries in the day before. If we had done hers first, we would have had 4-5 hours OT versus the 3 we got.

not really. you just stand in front of a scanner at the door and it gets your temperature. completely non-invasive. and us employees have to do it too.

Had a mother and son Karen combo tonight. One acting like a complete dick head thinking he's entitled to do whatever he wants wherever he wants while his mother tried not only using her gender as an excuse, but the fact she's got 6 kids makes it okay for her to act like a complete moron.
