One thing I'll give Stardew Valley (why I enjoyed it more than most) is that there is essentially a main story end goal. To make your dead grandpa proud of you within 2 in game years. It does require you to basically do a half-completion run but at least it's better than other farm games without any goal whatsoever.

To be fair, a lot of that is because Smash also has most of the more unsavory entrants into the FGC themselves.

Smash isn't blameless here, they're up their own ass as much as other people are down it.

Yeah that's why I said animosity on both sides, I was just trying to explain Ulti's PoV of this writeup.

Smash is a bit judgmental on their own side. I think the Smash series being most popular kinda gets to their head where they say things like "we don't need EVO!" and they're the least likely to try other fighting games that aren't Smash.

The community also seems to to favor different thigns. They clearly put their top players on higher pedestals, almost like gods, while FGCers do respect top players there seems to be more of a drive to beat them over worshiping them.

I'd like to know what is Ulti's problems with Tekken as a game. What was it that made you dislike it?

As someone who's watched the Smash and "Fighting Game Community".

There's a group of people in the Traditional Fighting Game Commnity (Street Fighter, Tekken, all those anime games, etc) that don't treat Super Smash Bros as a real fighting game.

I wouldn't say it's the majority (most of them likely don't care) but the very vocal ones in the FGC have shit on Smash Bros not being a fighting game for quite a long time.

So basically it's about as Tekken as a game in particular, he hates parts of the vocal fanbase that don't really respect Smash Bros. as a real fighting game (whether it's Melee or Ultimate). A bunch call Smash just a "party game". Tekken is one of the top 3 most popular games at EVO every year but Smash Bros always destroys it (and basically every other fighting game minus Street Fighter) in entrant numbers.

I still like Smash the most out of any fighting game but I actually enjoy playing differnet fighting games just as much. It's just unfortunate there's a lot of animosity between the Smash scene and FGC though I think it's gotten a little better over the year.

I think Fortnite is a pretty fun game too. I like it more than a lot of other games in the bracket tbh.

It's by far the easiest battle royale to 'get good' at imo from what I played.

The lack of building in other royale can get rough since I'm pretty bad at shooters generally.

Fortnite also has cool seasonal modes like playing/fighting Thanos and best of all LIGHTSABERS.

The Dances are pretty hit or miss but I do think it's cool stuff like Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up (with the OG song and everything) and stuff like Star Wars TRAITOR scene and force choking. And of course seeing flossing making it to the Sonic movie.

I like the gimmick weapons like the Kingsman/umbrella. I got really excited to just whack builds, block shots, and blow people who have no idea how to fight it.

Meanwhile Tekken has Final Fantasy AND Walking Dead reps now, and the average of those three games pull Tekken up.

Tekken 7 has been killing it in numbers and popularity Fighting Game eSports tournaments. The most popular game consistently outside Smash Ultimate and Street Fighter V.

At least year's EVO, MK11 did well but Tekken 7 still outdid it in numbers even though it was MK11's first year.

Before EVO got cancelled due to Corona, MK11 wasn't even on the main roster while Tekken 7 was only losing to Smash Ult, Granblue VS and SF5 in numbers

Well... part of it was my bias since Smash Ultimate is probably my favorite game ever now. And I believed too strongly in Everyone is here and Joker Hype and while Breath of the wild is popular, it being open world wouldnt be as appealing to the fanbase here who really likes the older style Zelda games

Both firefdr and NowItsAngeTime took Pokemon HGSS to the final. The big match between them will be Persona 5 vs. Portal 2. Should Portal 2 win then firefdr will win the guru, should Persona 5 win then NowItsAngeTime needs either Dark Souls > TLOU or for Persona 5 to defeat Witcher 3/GoW in the fifth round to win the guru.

Nice to know a silly upset pick that likely wont happen has me in the talkings of a potential Guru win even though it's like less than 1% happening at this point.

People told me that this is like the best game in the franchise. Gotta disagree. It's fine. I enjoyed it well enough, and there aren't any especially bad cases, and it felt like it had more of a point than AAI1, but none of the cases really wowed me compared to the best of the other games.

Finally someone else who has the same opinion on it as me.

It's a 8/10 ish game but not the 10/10 the Original Trilogy has.
