Academia S1 was pretty obviously shounen-y straightforward and Deku himself was predictable but I actually liked S1 a bunch (but didnt super love) it because it actually developed or made side characters do cool things

It kinda felt like Naruto during the Chuunin Exams part (aka when it was still good)

All Might being GAR a f helped a lot. I love mentor types like him

XFD everybody is like super stupid during all this Cell stuff. Almost at the point where Cell announces the Cell Games oh yes.

That's the main problem I have with that arc and why I dont consider it the best like some people do. Relies too much on people making bad mistakes and the androids > Frieza thing

You know what's pretty amusing? Goku kills way more people as a kid than he ever does as an adult despite the power levels escalating to crazy heights and the stakes being way higher.

It's implied when he trained with Kami after the King Piccolo saga he got some kind of enlightenment to not kill every enemy and to spare people as much as possible

Living in Socal near the eSports Arena, the locals there are really well done in a nice enviornment with nice streams by 2GGaming so I dont have the problem

I do feel like Smash fans in general can either be more stuck up or annoying than SF fans who are more down to earth

I also gave an 8/solid

My personal guess is why its so loved (besides getting influenced by the hype train). It's a simple but cute story with some twists that are somewhat unexpected. The multiple perspectives makes it relatable for both guys and girls. Obviously the graphics are super amazing but it wasnt for a big time anime movie itd be disappointing. The way the story is paced makes something always happening which is what keeps people watching from start to end.

Generally when just about everything is good that tends to get higher critical scores since theres less to criticize about it.

I assume Zelda will get GotY on most sites, but you never know. There's a pretty heavy bias against Japanese games in GotY awards it feels like. Like, SMG2 has by far the best reviews of 2010, but it got less than 10% of the GotY awards that year.

Nintendo games will always be known as the "kiddy" company or the company with the not as memorable / realistic graphics
