I had a job that was a 4 day work week. I had to work one day in the weekend though, and I had to get to work at 5am in the morning and get out at 330pm..and then go to bed at 9pm at the latest. I hated the job and those hours, but that extra day really can make a difference

Yeah, a working a weekend can suck for sure, but if you land something like I have, you get Fri-Sun off which is so nice. Sure, 7-5 sucks, but I'll take it for that extra day off.

https://money.cnn.com/2018/07/19/news/economy/new-zealand-four-day-work-week-perpetual-guardian/index.html

A company in New Zealand that tested four-day work weeks says the experiment was so successful that it wants to make it permanent.

Perpetual Guardian, which helps customers manage their wills and estates, released the results of its two-month trial this week. The company said its employees all reported greater productivity, better work-life balance and lower stress levels from working one less day a week.

The employees more than 240 of them were still paid for five days a week during the experiment, which ran from the beginning of March to the end of April. The trial was conducted by outside researchers.

"It was just a theory, something I thought I wanted to try because I wanted to create a better environment for my team," Perpetual Guardian CEO Andrew Barnes told CNN. "I'm humbled that my team has responded, and they went beyond my wildest dreams."

In a survey taken late last year, only 54% of respondents said they felt able to manage their work-life balance. After the trial, that number jumped to 78%.

Staff stress levels also decreased by around 7%, while metrics used to measure team engagement rose around 20% on average.

I recently just switched to a 4-day a week work week and I know my productivity has sky-rocketed. It's still 40 hours, but obviously one less day in the office. My company offered a whole bunch of summer flex scheduling for testing, and this was one of the options. Hopefully it stays.

Nice! I figure that's kind of the evolution of a lot of lifters. In my case, I'll probably get into strongman, but I think I remember you saying you already did that. 198 is a way better class than 220, imo lol

It was the opposite for me, haha. Started out trying to be a fighter, couldn't afford classes or a car, and got into lifting instead. I do plan on competing in powerlifting and eventually strongman, but probably not 220 anytime soon. I competed at 220 in my last powerlifting meet and took 1st and 198 in my last strongman show, which is when I tore my bicep.

That's badass that you want to do strongman. Do you just do "normal" weightlifting at the moment?

Sorry, I just saw your response!

Really, you started out as a fighter? I would have never guessed that. I feel like I see a lot of people now going from powerlifting (what I meant when I said, "weightlifting" and transitioning into strongman/fighting. Maybe you were just ahead of the curve haha.

Congrats on both those wins! I definitely just feel like, especially for guys our heights, 198 is just much more natural. If I competed at 220, I would actually just weigh 215 and be up against guys who cut from 240 and stand no chance. Whereas I can weigh about 200-210, and comfortably cut to 198.

Right now I just powerlift, but the gym I go to has a couple master level strongman that have been helping me get into it. Had my first push/pull meet in March where I benched 330 and deadlifted 500, which are both about 50lbs off my gym PRs at the time, lmao. I signed up for a meet in Nov where I'm shooting for 550/405/550 for a 1500 total.

Is is that no one will even reach out to you once you apply, or that you get an interview and then no job offer?

If it's the former, just apply to more jobs. Eventually someone will pick up your resume.

If it's the latter, then it's probably something with you (potentially a variety or reasons, not necessarily bad things, just improvements) that you need to work on.

I've only been interviewed once and I got through several of the stages. Like I said, they toured me at the company then I did problems on the white board for the company's panel of senior developers.

My recruiter told me I did good, but they filled the position with someone else from my school.

Since, I've only applied to like 3 places, like I said, just because I'm unmotivated and I feel like sending out my resume won't do anything.

So, you haven't applied to enough places. You got rejected once and now you're all down.

Yeah, I figured if it happens to me, I'm just gonna grow a full beard and gain like 30 more lbs of muscle and be just a big meat head lol.

Well it can work...

Hitting the gym is a common way for men to compensate for baldness. And it can have success. Although the reasons why are a lot more than just looking fit. Commitment to a gym routine that's producing results can encourage a guy to take more disciplined initiative with staying in shape and become more confident in his physical abilities. These can be very attractive traits on their own and can positively influence how he conducts other areas of his life as well. And flattering recognition of these changes by self and peers can pull a lot of balding guys out of the rut of losing their hair. It can help them reinvent their image and convince them that the hair was just an expendable aspect of them.

I appreciate the words of advice, but I already go to the gym like everyday haha. I'm like 200lbs at 5'9" and am, in my opinion, pretty muscular. I just meant I'd go totally ham and get up to like 240 and be huge.

I wouldn't overly worry yet if you're not seeing any signs of it. Just keep using your shampoo for now.

I heard if you catch it early enough, it can be reversed so I'm trying to be proactive. Sorry to hear that man.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I don't see any receding hairline nor have I lost any hair, it just looks thinner and maybe that's because I'm looking at it everyday now and wasn't before lol.

It's been on my mind recently, so naturally I'm freaking out about it. My mom's dad was bald at around 25(I'm 23 now) so of course I've been looking at my hair a lot more. It still looks pretty good, but does look like it might be thinning. However, my dad's, mom's dad was bald at like 30, and both my dad and uncle have full sets of hair at 60 so that gives me some hope.

I bought some biotin shampoo and have been using that, but that's about all I've been doing.

Has anyone experienced this/used anything to help them out? Kerotin or anything? Open to suggestions/

Some people are just built differently and take longer to progress. I would say, you're doing great and keep up the great work.

If you're actively trying to get stronger, perhaps look up a program.

Yeah there are dudes I know that were throwing up 135 to start.

Around 200-220g per day. Ive put on 35 lbs in the past year.

Well, based off of everything you're saying, it sounds like you're doing everything right (imo).

Again, depending on how much it matters, try a program or increase frequency or something.

And I feel ya on the squats. I powerlift, so I just make sure my hip crease goes below my knees (below parallel) but I see why some people prefer ATG. All preference.
