So Australia has an ice cream called Golden Gaytime. It's a toffee/caramel flavored ice cream that's dipped in chocolate and covered in cookie crumbs, and it's absolutely delicious - I highly recommend trying this ice cream.

Recently they brought out a salted caramel variant, and they named it the Salty Golden Gaytime.

The regular tagline for these ice creams is "It's Hard To Have a Gaytime On Your Own!". The slogan on the front of the box for this salted variety reads " A salty gay time!". I would link images, but I'm on mobile - if you Google it, you can corroborate all of this information.

Terfs are actually more toxic than all of CE put together

Well shit, I think I share an opinion with Brutai for once.

CE can be a shithole, but TERFs are a shitty fringe hate group that claim to be progressive, but they go after people who are more vulnerable and at risk of discrimination than themselves - calling trans women "invaders" like they're men invading femininity and "ruining" it, and claiming that trans men have internalised misogyny and hate themselves so much that they turn themselves into men over their hatred of women. It's disgusting behavior, and while there have been some fucking garbo opinions and abhorrent posts on this website, and I wouldn't back this place up in its entirety - I genuinely think that TERFs, as a concentrated group, are legitimately more hateful, genuinely bigoted and completely self-righteous and hypocritical than the entirety of CE. Maybe not select pockets of CE, but as a whole, sure.

TERFs do more harm to our society than good, whereas a majority of folks here prefer to confine their shitposting to a dying video games board instead. At least here, you're essentially wasting your life feeding into an ongoing circle jerk instead of going into the real world and telling trans people that they're mentally ill and need to be lobotomized or "corrected". There might be Holocaust deniers here, they tend to be on a path that's going somewhere that's worse than TERFs, and some of the people that visit this website are out of their fucking minds and should probably share a cell with Dawkins - but comparing CE as a group to TERFs as a group? This message board leans further towards moderate than TERFs do. And that's insane.

TopicI had a weird dream last night
MrMallard

I just had a weird ass dream. It was like a blend of older society and tech with smartphones, like a crusty old patriarch in the family and 60s level norms and attitudes in the home of the main family, but people had some advanced technology as well. There would be a kid, his brother, a dog named Consequences and the dad, and occasionally a mother but not always. The kid had a crush on someone which didnt always succeed, but sometimes it made a bit of headway. And this situation would loop multiple times, with a 60s household playing 2003 Tim McGraw records on vinyl and an Olympic event being held in Orange, NSW in 2022.

Near the end of the dream, there was a dog named Consequences that was just a tail and a head. The family patriarch had cut the dogs tail off and it had grown a mind of its own according to the lore of that particular loop, but it was more like all of its legs had gone - though there was a chance that it was regrowing body parts, since later on when that loop crossed with another loop (there were two of the same dog) it was a head with legs, tail and a body, but with shaved fur. Or maybe that was another loop, idk.

I fought in a fighting ring for the Olympics and became royalty of the sea because I won. In another, I was a ghost haunting one of the loops. Other times I was trying to impress a girl in school, who had similar features to someone I know in real life. And the person I played during these loops would always grow up into this bitter, awful patriarch and I would jump into the body of the youngest family member, who was literally the same character as before, who would go on to become the next crusty old patriarch as I jumped back into that other character. Aside from a handful of differences like the dog and whether the patriarch was a widower or single or if he had a wife, things like that were the same. My character would grow old and shitty, I would go back to playing a character who lived under his rule, and that character - as genuinely optimistic and happy as he could be - would proceed to grow up and turn bitter like his father before him. Rinse and repeat.

On the final loop before my alarm woke me up, the dream got kind of cinematic and went for an existential horror sort of thing. Thats when it showed me the Tim McGraw records from 2003, combined with the smartphones and stuff. The feeling I got was that the loop was trapping me in a cycle, and the constant changing of characters as the ones I played became this hardass old crustmaster could have been a metaphor for the cycle of abuse. Think Donkey Kong, with Cranky Kong being the original DK who fought Mario in the arcade days, except that happens like what felt like 8+ times in a single dream.

Lately I've been all over the place. About two weeks ago, I had a really good week - I had a goal that I was striving towards, so for that week I took particularly good care of myself and I approached everything from a strong, confident viewpoint. I kissed a girl at the start of October, because everyone was out at the local races and everyone had drinks and hooked up and stuff - nearly evolved into more but it was super late and we'd had too much to drink - and we expressed mutual interest in each other. I was hoping to see her down at the pub for Halloween.

The thought was to fake it until I could make it, spend a week trying to be a better person so I could see her again, be confident in myself and be someone worth being with - feel better, get better, succeed. I won't get into details, but I absolutely blew it and now I've been plagued with self-doubt for a solid week.

I slept more this week, I brushed my teeth hard enough to lacerate my gums, and I just generally feel like shit. I spent Monday being somewhat productive, but that didn't last and I really slipped into a funk. I spent a while before that really good week waking up and thinking "Honestly, what am I even doing?", and it slipped away during that week when I tried to stand on my own two feet. But now it's back, and it might be a little louder than I would like - and I preferred when I didn't feel like this.

So I'm going to try and course-correct during this week, and I'm going to use this blogfaqs thread to document my progress and keep me on the straight and narrow.

Why GameFAQs/CE?

* I spend a lot of time on here. Posting it here saves me dragging myself between multiple platforms, because I'm most likely going to spend time on here during the week. Logistically, it makes sense.

* I like it here. Sure, there are assholes - jesus fucking christ, there are certainly assholes. A part of me was debating making this topic at risk of the worst of the board pouncing on it like fucking pubic lice, which is still certainly a possibility. But I like it here, and the blogfaqs threads have always been my favorite part of the board. Maybe some earnest content can bring some life back to CE.

Why even bother?

* Why would I bother making this into a thread? Because if I have some way to hold myself accountable, I'm going to have a better chance of sticking to what I'm doing. This thread is a means of keeping me on track, because I enjoy posting and I enjoy sharing with people.

* Why would I bother to do this at all, or make a point of it? Because I feel like shit a lot of the time, and there was one week where I didn't. I want to catch lightning in a bottle and work towards recapturing how I felt when I gave a shit about something. I want to be better.

So, to reiterate (TL;DR)

I feel like shit. I felt pretty good for a while because I was working towards something, and when I missed the mark I felt even worse. Rather than stew in it, as I tend to do - I go through cycles of excitability and depression, and when they hit they fucking hit - I'm taking a week to try and turn things around, get myself back on track.

I'm going to set a few goals. I'm hoping to hit all of them, but it won't be the end of the world if I don't - one wrong move with that mindset, and I'll spiral. I'll throw together 7, one for every day of the week.

* Make all of my appointments. This includes stuff that isn't mandatory, i.e. going to see my TAFE classmates at morning tea.

* Visit the office where I did my internship, and get the references that they offered me.

* Improve my sleeping experience. Make shit more comfortable, and sleep reasonable hours.

* See my friends more instead of brushing them off

* Study for - and maybe go for - my learner's permit

* Focus more on positive/constructive things

* Buy a new wallet (Sunday)

I prefer Zero Mission, personally. I prefer the art style, and I think the mood is better - almost no dialogue throughout the entire game and the music is dope.

Also, that giant fly boss that eats a hole through into a whole new zone? Legitimately the only boss that has physically disgusted me. It's terrifying and awful and I hate it - no other game has given me such a gutteral reaction.

If you think about it from the perspective that bullying will never go away 100%, yes it can help kids learn how to deal with problems, but that shouldn't be used as an excuse to ignore bullying when it happens. It certainly causes more harm than good and should be dealt with as soon as possible by an adult.

Especially since bullying in the workplace is being frowned upon more and more, and with assault fines out at the pub really racking up. Adults need to step in and resolve the situation, as is happening in real life when folks are acting shitty, but given that the bullying isn't omnipresent and all-consuming like a singular target for a classroom to mock, or along the same lines - maybe the right person can use it as a way to learn how to resolve issues.

I would wager that instances of this are few and far between though. Bullying is a serious issue, and it fucks up kids specifically because they don't know how to resolve this sort of thing at their age. Especially with shit like "snitches get stitches" and mocking kids for being "dibber-dobbers".

Wow, that's really ironic coming from CE.

I'm really happy to see this result, myself. I was bullied for about a decade straight, and it really did a number on me. I'm only just now starting to stabilise and step out on my own, and even that has taken 5 years out of school for me to get to this point. It's a big reason why I try to be as stable and thoughtful on here as I can - you only reap what you sow, you're never going to get an earnest answer out of anyone if you can't show a bare minimum of your genuine self and extend the same respect that you would like to be treated with.

That's my ulterior motive here, just to see how this played out and to react appropriately. I'm happy things have turned out this way.

most people irl will date women in their own age range

Fair point. I just feel like some guys don't see value in older women unless they're trying to look younger for that target audience. You see it being pandered to in games with women who are north of 40 but who look 18, and you see this sort of attitude in countries like Japan where women older than 25 are referred to as "Christmas cakes" because no-one wants them by the 26th. But people would stick to around their age range I guess, plenty of folks are single in their 30's.

PhazonReborn posted...
Women peak way early. There are barely any women outside supermodels and actresses in the real world that are still primetime babes after 25.

I can see where you're coming from, but I don't entirely agree. At this point, model-level attractiveness is all the same to me - you show me a stunner, and I'll forget her in five minutes. There are so many of the same sort of conventionally attractive people everywhere that it's hard for me to find anything to be attracted to. No hate if someone looks like a model, it is an attractive look, but with the way that models are crammed down our throats in advertising and on TV I just don't really care. I'm also never going to be in their league, so what's the point?

I think women come into their own somewhere between 22 and their thirties. Not much to base this on, I just feel like that's a good period of time for someone's looks to really settle in and become familiar and nice, and the life experiences throughout one's twenties would make for a more interesting and entertaining 30 year old.

I don't care about "primetime babes". Continue to fawn over models if that's your thing, but I find more to be attracted to with a woman who's had some time to live her life and shape her personality based on that, rather than someone who's fresh out of university and is just getting started in the world. That's just me though.

TL;DR: ladies continue to be attractive throughout their thirties and beyond, though there's definitely a tipping point much like there is for blokes. People seem to be sleeping on this fact, and I feel like the dating game would be a lot healthier for everyone if people were willing to date slightly older women rather than a large number of guys sticking to this "ideal" age of 18-21.

I mean people can look good for more than three decades, of course. But it's like why do y'all exclusively want these fuckin fresh faced teens and shit, or want your women to look like teenagers? Why is it that some people see a woman, hear that they're 32 or whatever, and go "gross, she's old"? Women in their 20's are hot, but ladies continue to be hot for years afterwards as well - some of y'all seem to be sleeping on that fact.

I think this mindset is reductive for everyone involved. You've got women who feel insecure over being single in their thirties and above, because this belief has been mainstream enough to touch a lot of people's lives, and you've got guys who are stuck in this stupid fucking "purity" loop who are willingly limiting their dating pool to a small group of women who will only get further out of their league as time goes on. You're increasing your chances of being alone, and you're snubbing perfectly attractive women because any woman slightly north of 30 is somehow old enough to be off-putting to you. That's weak.

Like are you going to be that childish forever, lusting after high schoolers and college freshmans as you continue to age into your thirties? Are you going to play into these sitcom and anime tropes, where older guys are lecherous scumbags who are always on the lookout for young pussy and any woman over 30 is past her prime and not even worth talking to? Because that's a sad life.

If you're still young, then date around your age range, sure. If you're like 25 and you want to date a girl who's around 20, whatever. Have your preferences and stuff. But don't play into this idea that 30+ year old women are all old, over-the-hill and unloveable/unfuckable. You're only hurting your own dating prospects by being so close-minded and punching above your weight. I feel like the dating game would be a lot healthier if more people could appreciate women and their attractiveness throughout their lives, instead of chasing skirts and acting like a stuck up little prick if a potential romantic partner is halfway through her twenties.

Like this specific iteration of Miller is a Spirit in Smash. You can use him as a powerup.

I can take solace in knowing who didn't show up. I didn't see Mega Man.EXE, I didn't see Celica (sue me), I didn't see Monster hunter or a Palico AT or sticker. Good enough for me.

I saw a Monster Hunter dragon thing at points, some time during the beginning I think and right near the end on the world map.

No Mega Man.EXE though... :(

I think my favorite Spirit shown was Kazuhira Miller from MGS5. This grizzled asshole who lost an arm and a leg to torture, who smacks this African child soldier with a crutch and is dead set on bloody, messy revenge - arguably one of the most intense characters in the Metal Gear franchise, as someone who was depicted in a light-hearted manner in PW before losing literally everything that he had worked toward - being depicted in a fucking Nintendo game.

Mr. "Every night, I can feel my leg... And my arm... even my fingers... The body I've lost... the comrades I've lost... won't stop hurting..." himself. Represented in a Nintendo game. I fucking love it.

No hate if you wanted these characters, but you know that there's some maladjusted dickhead who's using these Assist Trophies not being main fighters as an excuse to act like an asshole. Smash breeds that sort of sickness, I swear - look at that turd who hoarded all of those Rosalina Amiibos because he hated her and didn't want other people to have her merchandise. It's that sort of degeneracy that feeds this perverse little sense of spite that I've felt.

Don't talk to Smash players. Don't look them in the eye. Definitely don't shake their hand. :-P

I was pulling for Geno and Spring Man to a lesser extent. While it's a small bummer, it's not why I enjoy Smash. I enjoy playing as cool and kooky characters, and the absolute LOVE LETTER to Nintendo's long and storied history and now other companies and franchises besides. It just makes me feel so warm. :)

Yeah, no hate there for sure. I was hoping for Geno to a degree, pretty much because I was hoping to win Lan's Smash raffle - for those who are into the character, I can understand and respect why they would want him in.

I'll admit that I've never owned a Smash game, I played a friend's copy of Brawl when I was younger and that's it. But I've always admired the series from afar, and with me having the most recent Nintendo hardware I can finally get in on the action. Can't wait to mess around with the goofy characters like Mr. Game and Watch and R.O.B, and I'm pretty hype for Snake as well.

With over 70 playable characters, I think this was the one worth waiting for. I'm super stoked to be jumping into the series, and I'm looking forward to the game launching.

Well maybe Banjo and Kazooie can be DLC. I don't really know who else they have left to use for DLC. I'm thinking now Sora seems like a good bet. And I guess Piranha Plant proves there can literally be anything.

And yeah, maybe so. We got Cloud last time, so Banjo Kazooie and Geno aren't off the table.

I also got a bit giddy when Shadow and Isaac were revealed as Assist Trophies, specifically because of the people who were clamoring for them to be fighters.

Shut the fuck up

Nah, I'm good. For what it's worth, I liked the Smash direct solely on its own merits - the spite involved in places like with Shadow and Isaac were ultimately a cherry on top. Hardly a sole focus on why I enjoyed the Direct.

If nothing else, I'm glad that these sorts of people didn't get what they wanted. I'm glad that the sickest, most obnoxious Smash fans are going without, because they really don't deserve it. A ton of better adjusted folks have been left out in the rain, of course - I'm sorry if a fighter that you wanted didn't make it in, seriously. If folks were clamoring for Geno and Banjo Kazooie, and weren't spending hours out of their days ripping new assholes into people over disagreements, then I'm ultimately on your side - it's a legitimate bummer, and I'm sorry that you didn't get the character/s that you wanted.

But I've seen so much entitlement and degeneracy from the Smash community, just some real pieces of shit, and the thought of them losing their shit because their precious, entitled ass didn't get fucking Mach Rider or whatever gives me life.

Piranha Plant OP please nerf

I'm happy with that Direct. I like the Spirits, I love how the Adventure mode looks, I like the new fighters though Ken was disappointing. Turns out the Grinch leak was fake as balls, so I'm laughing my ass off about that - I bought into it to a degree, but the thought of those who were gung-ho, 100% in for the ride getting buttmad is great.

Whoever said that Sakurai probably scrapped Incineroar for Banjo because no-one wanted Incineroar and Sakurai must have "come to his senses" - who was it, MilkMan? All I have to say is fucking lol.

I also got a bit giddy when Shadow and Isaac were revealed as Assist Trophies, specifically because of the people who were clamoring for them to be fighters. I enjoyed a great deal of the Direct, but I definitely got a spiteful kick out of the thought that all these Smash fanboys are going to flip shit and ruin their lives over a stupid fucking video game.

Smash Ultimate looks great. I'll definitely be picking it up for Christmas.

I mean, apparently he wasn't even attached to this "blexit" crap to begin with, with someone associating him with the "movement" to spread the word and get more traction. Could be wrong, I'm not following this news too closely, but if that is indeed the case then I can back Kanye's decision as genuine.

Kanye really does need help focusing his thoughts and working out how to express himself in less volatile ways. Dude legitimately needs a therapist if he's going to go on a months-long Trump bender and then come out the other side feeling chewed up and used from the whole ordeal. I think he needs that support, and he would benefit from a clinical way to process and express his emotions. Anyone would, including myself.

What I took from his Trump phase is that he chose to become more right wing as a response to the entertainment industry going more towards a stiflingly massive left. The feeling that you can't choose your own politics sounds really claustrophobic, and if you're going "what's so bad about this guy" and getting a response of "look, he's the worst, don't vote for him or you'll probably be worse off by association" sounds really aggravating. I can understand Kanye going off the rails and going full Trump as a way to feel liberated, like you're expressing yourself in the face of groupthink - assuming this was even close to his thought pattern. I certainly don't like the right, but looking at it through this lens, I can at least understand why someone would do this.

As someone who thinks that Trump is a fucking moron, and who thinks that politics in this day and age has been absolutely fucking tarnished due to this fart-huffer, I can at least understand on these terms why Kanye would do what he's been doing. Maybe there's a message of being more open to conversation - not necessarily compromise, because there's a lot of repugnant shit that people will try to push as "moderate" (and then get uppity when people don't take to it), but talk about where we're all coming from and see if we can come to a better understanding for everyone. Y'know, rather than creating this tense atmosphere where people like Kanye West jump on a political bandwagon pretty much because it feels like he has a choice in voting against the grain.
