For what it's worth, the GameCube is more powerful than the PS2. The PS2 was just more accessible to the general public due to doubling as a DVD player (at a lower price point than solo DVD players), and its initial head start led to it becoming the killer console of that generation.

The GameCube was kinda gimped by its small discs, and while it held its own for the most part, it did miss out on a lot of PS2/Xbox titles due to Nintendo not touching more controversial titles and disliking violence. Shit was still the second most powerful console on the market, and the hardware was solid - GameCubes can take a fucking beating, some folks dropped it off a building and it would still play with some finagling. Like yeah, it had more limited choice compared to the PS2 and Xbox, at least as far as some of the larger gaming trends at the time were concerned (FPS games and games geared more towards older teens and adults), but the hardware was solid.

The Xbox was the most powerful console, and had a lot of the best multiplatform releases of that generation due to that additional power. Microsoft going with PC hardware helped run more PC-geared titles on the console, and the PS2 arguably had the best 3rd party support in the game and some of the hottest first party titles as well. I would argue that it had a majority of the 6th gen Japanese releases as well, since Xbox has always sold like poison in Japan and Nintendo had a lot less going on than Sony did at the time - not to mention how companies like Capcom and Square jumped ship to Sony from Nintendo in the PS1 days.

But the GameCube gave it a valiant effort, and even if the Xbox had it beat, it did have some great hardware for the time. Even with its shortcomings, I think it's worth admitting that much.

So, I have some stuff to say about that Nolan guy and Wade.

Nolan's avatar is depicted as this hulking business man. Initially I thought it was because this guy was such an unimaginative turd that he extended his corporate shit into the game world - because all he cares about is business - but then it struck me that he looked like a buff meat-headed Superman. The occasionally blue eyes and hair curl were what tipped me off.

Earlier in the movie, Wade is given a Clark Kent disguise by Artemis after he wins the first key. This frames Wade as a god among men, who's idolised by humanity but who has to hide among them. That's just a visual cue, but over the course of the movie, he essentially becomes Superman's best image of the human race, and essentially embodies the character himself. Someone with an indomitable spirit, who keeps the world in mind with the actions he takes. Meanwhile, Nolan's Superman is powerful and sweeping, using his power and resources to try and gain control of the system - he has to have Oasis, or he'll use the power he has to make sure no-one else can have it. He uses Superman's strengths and conflates the character to his own selfish greed and petty anger.

Nolan's Superman is a misinterpretation. He sees Superman as an unstoppable force, a being so super that he can gain whatever he wants by flaunting his power. And with Nolan's own wealth and scummy, unethical business practices, he's more like Lex Luthor than Superman. I'd imagine that the Superman movie quote from the start of the movie factors into this, but frankly I've forgotten it.

Wade Watts embodies the ideals of Superman, while Nolan embodies human greed in a grossly misinterpreted mask of his own choosing. After all, Nolan has a whole private army of flunkies to carry out his dirty work - Wade has the Iron Giant backing him up. We all know whose ideals The Iron Giant sided with in the end.

And there's the Iron Giant.

And Sega/Atari sponsorships.

And a mediocre pretty girl crush subplot.

And a meaningless stream of references, with the pretty girl finishing the last reference. Granted her heart rate was pretty low, with main dude being the main instigator, but still.

And a generic dead parents sob story.

And an alliterative name that's explicitly stated to be reminiscent of a superhero.

because "LuKe SkYwAlkEr WoUld'T Do tHaT!!!!"

the movie was way too fucking long, with at least one big pointless CGI scene that reeked of Disney's fuck-you money, a lot of the humor was super forced (looking at you, Poe vs Hux) and one of the main plots (Holdo) just being kinda... stupid. Keep this character in the dark when they don't reasonably need to be. Saying that, though, I like it more than most, and I liked Luke Skywalker a lot - of the things people hate about the movie, I think they're the most wrong about Luke's characterisation. Especially considering how it's been 40 years since the end of the original trilogy, and shit changes in 40 years. But there are some parts that make it a tough watch. Mostly the forced fucking jokes.

People who say that Rian Johnson should never direct again, and who retroactively hate his backlog of work, are fucking morons. Just for the record.

Height alone doesn't make or break your relationship prospects, especially when you're already attractive in a general sense. Height matters to some people, but if you've got enough going on in the right areas, it's one of the least important aspects of one's attractiveness.

Unless you're a masochist or going for a clean run, clone some Pokemon with a Master Ball. Release the clone Pokemon once you get the Master Ball off of them, and boom - multiple Master Balls.

MrMallard

I was playing a Firered romhack on my phone - nothing that would tip the Shiny scales in my favor, just a 386 Pokemon modification. I found a shiny Pidgey in the wild - it was the first Pokemon I encountered with Pokeballs, and I caught it. I think I called it Sparkles.

The first naturally occuring shiny I encountered in a Pokemon game was a Houndour in Pokemon Crystal. I was looking for a Houndour for what felt like hours - it's one of my favorite Pokemon, and I wanted to raise a Houndoom on my team. And the one time I actually got a Houndour, it had a blue muzzle instead of an orange one.

That son of a bitch fled before I could capture it. I wasn't just out of a shiny, I was out of a fucking Houndour. I was pissed.

And before that, I read about the Daycare egg having an unusually high Shiny rate. So I saved outside the daycare, got the egg, hatched it and reset until I got a shiny. But that was willfully playing the odds.

I agree that the SNES was a serious step up in quality compared to the NES, but the NES still had some pretty solid titles. Ice Hockey was a pretty solid sports title, Crystalis still holds up to this day, the Mega Man games were pretty rad, the Dragon Quest titles of the time are pretty good etc. Of course the NES feels obsolete compared to the SNES, because the SNES was produced as a more powerful product to make the NES obsolete. That doesn't mean that the NES doesn't have worthwhile games on it, the same way that FF7 and FF9 don't dip into obscurity and unplayability because the PS2 came along with FFX.

Someone comes out with a hot scoop against their former discord server or external meetings with other CE users. They talk shit about how unhinged all the users are and how mistreated they were, and attempts at disputing those are spun off into more drama. Words are twisted against each other to perpetuate a stupid, actively malicious and intentionally hurtful atmosphere - it's happening all the fucking time now. Can we leave the discord shit in discord, and not drag it out into these user holy wars? I get that people can be snakes when it comes to this sort of drama, but we've just seen one of the most pathetic meltdowns in CE history that people wouldn't refuse to feed.

Like if you've gotta vent about some petty shit, vent. But don't tag 5 of the people you're venting about. PM them, or hit them up on discord, or whatever - if they don't respond, let it die.

And if you're baited by some delusional asshole with a sticking point, offer a rebuttal or two and then peace out. You're never gonna get them to stop slagging you off if you can't get a sincere answer out of them with a genuine call for context and resolution. Try for a while, but recognise a lost cause for what it is when it becomes too clear to ignore.

At this point, it would be really nice to see this shitty brand of drama fizzle out, and to let each discord deal with their own shit internally or over GameFAQs PM instead of someone dragging it out into a loud and messy battle in public. If someone has engaged in a particularly heinous way, like some real creep shit or doxxing or whatever - cool, blast it out with all the proof you've got. This isn't a call to ignore severe wrongdoing or to stay quiet in the face of serious misconduct. But if the drama is basic mudslinging, he-said-she-said bullshit that's perpetually pedalled by some petty, passive-aggressive little snot who's in it for the drama and nothing else - who ends up clearly being in the wrong - have the sense to starve them of the petty attention that they're desperately trying to milk. CE drama is bad enough, splinter group drama spilling into mainstream CE drama turns my fucking stomach. It would be fantastic if we could agree as a community to let this shit die, leave discord drama at the door and resume the regular CE witch hunts, where people who visit the board have a chance to witness all the context -on the board- and not actively rely on a faulty game of Telephone and a bunch of biased lies to take sides.

TL;DR report heinous shit of course, sexual misconduct and actively malicious actions from CE users that happen off-site should be brought to light and those users should be shamed - but let's stop feeding Discord server drama when it becomes clear that the person driving the drama is a raging lunatic who's never going to stop talking shit.

First you say you've never had friends now you say you did. Koga, You are a liar and You're probably been making this shit up for god knows how long. I'm disappointed I thought you finally understood, that you would see as I did, but you're a fake, a conman, a trumpist. This stupid world really is nothing but lies

Dude, for Christ's sake, you've been posting really angry "You don't care! The world doesn't care!" comments for a while now. I talked shit at you in another topic, but this is a real trend and I'm worried.

Please don't pedal this fatalistic bullshit to everyone - in time things can get better for you and everyone else here, and these experiences will define how you treat others and interact with the world. Take this shit and think about how you want to be treated, and treat them in kind.

Breath of the Wild is a good solo game that really got the Switch off to a good start. It's one of those games that's just such a great first impression.

Local co-op?

the Metal Slug games
Snipperclips
Renegade GP: Riptides (jetski racing game)
the Jackbox party games, if you're into party games like Cards Against Humanity

I'm pretty sure the first three picks here can be played with one joy con each, so if you don't mind the size you won't need to buy a second controller. The last one is played by connecting the Switch to the internet and joining the room with your phones.
