as someone who lives in rural pennsylvania... republicans here are the some of the nicest people you'll ever meet... until you tell them you're one of their stereotypical boogeymen. then things can get really scary, really quickly.

you can score into your own net in hockey, but it's not credited like it is in soccer. the last person on the other team to touch the puck before the goal gets credit for a regular goal (and in the unlikely even that no opposing player touched the puck, the center who took the last faceoff gets the goal.)
