Optimum tech came this morning, just to tell us "Ooh, you guys should upgrade your speed."

Like, yeah, we have only 25mbps, which is unheard of in this day and age, but we've been using it for almost 5 years straight, streaming HD video and playing games online the entire time and it held up juuust fine until 2 weeks ago. Plus every streaming service I see like Netflix and Hulu states that 20 is the recommended minimum.

The hell do I do, guys? He said we should upgrade to 100mbps, but that'll jack our bill from $30 a month to like $70 a month.

Actually I'm gonna make a thread and take my case to CE.

That's a fair point, based on the info about El Paso. Though TBF I don't know if it's 100% a good comparison, since besides them prepping their power plants, it does state that they were able to fall back on a power grid outside of Texas. But it def is some interesting insight. I still doubt that any political makeup over the last ten years would've made much difference, since situations like that 2011 cold snap are really rare, and culturally, people don't think it's going to happen with enough frequency to need to make the needed changes, whether they're left-leaning or right-leaning, the same way that most NYers don't actively think about needing to modify their infrastructure in prep for a major earthquake. (Though hopefully given this tragedy, it does sway the general public into changing their minds)

Can we all stop dunking on victims of a really tragic natural disaster? Cuz that's what this is. It was a natural disaster. And it doesn't really need to be politicized while people are still picking their broken lives back up.
Like, I'm not defending Republicans, but pretending that a left-leaning Texas would've magically prepared for a one in a billion, freak natural disaster, that the state has never had to deal with in recorded history, is a fucking fantasy.

Yeah. GOP is a pack of jokers about climate change, but you're delusional if you think "The state should've been spending the last 2 decades overhauling its infrastructure to prepare for a once in a lifetime freak occurrence" is some really easy solution that different politicians would've put into play.

Technician can't make it here until frigging TUESDAY now. I'm worried that the coaxial cable in the wall got damaged by mice or during work they've been doing with the HVAC system.

I dunno, it's pretty simple honestly. Smash Ultimate is the greatest crossover event in the history of media. It features a tremendous roster of (mostly) very popular characters from dozens of franchises that people have known their entire lives, from a huge variety of different companies now, not just Nintendo. The characters and media franchises featured are lovingly crafted to represent the world they're from, and offer a great deal of fanservice.
On top of that, even 2 years after it's release, it has a really active competitive scene with lots of ongoing support from the devs, which isn't common for fighting games.

If that isn't "fascinating" I dunno what is.

As a Xenoblade fan, I can tell you it seemed most people wanted Rex, not Pyra, and were hoping the Mii costume fan-rule would be broken.

That said, I'm sure most of the 2 million people who bought XB2 are happy enough with Pyra.

I like Xenoblade and I've played them all. But it ain't a big franchise. XC2 sold even less than ARMS which was a brand new IP lol. This ain't up for debate.

FWIW I would've liked a heropon character over Pyra if we're picking from XB. But people love their waifus.

Don't get a beardie, they're a lot of work and there's better lizards with lower care requirements if you just want something cool to look at. Lots of people get them cuz they want a lizard they can interact with, but tbh they're really not as entry-level as most people think they are.

Plus when it comes to pricing, you either need to buy an adult, which can be expensive, or you can but a baby for a lot less, but won't be full size and handle-able for years.

Do you have experience with reptiles/inverts/exotics at all?

I'm surprised so many people are into Pyra. I thought Xenoblade was still relatively niche.

I'll probably buy her just for the hell of it, but I was pretty underwhelmed, ngl. Still better than another Emblem character lol.

Fun fact: To this date, the only Smash DLC I never bought was Byleth lol.

After the Wii U they kind of had to lead with their bangers. It worked, too.

And I know this board probably isn't big into Pokemon or Animal Crossing, but those had incredible showings too.

I love Animal Crossing, but honestly if you stand back and remove yourself from the context of 2020, it's not a great entry in the series.

They added very little to the game, while taking a shit ton of features out, just to slowly reintroduce them back in, pretending they're updates. It's not a bad game by any means, but without a pandemic keeping people indoors that game would've been seen as sooooo average.

100% agreed dude. The first two years, the Switch had 3 GOAT masterpieces with Odyssey, BotW, and Smash Ultimate, a slew of real solid new sequels (Splatoon, Yoshi, Kirby) a brand new IP in ARMS, and a bunch of other bonus extra remakes and stuff like Pokemon Let's Go and Mario Kart 8 DX.

From 2019 onward though? It's been a humongous fucking drag.
