I agree with you. We should mind our own business. Unfortunately, there is no consistency with a lot of people. If you wear a MAGA shirt or hat, for example, there is a very real danger that people will confront and possibly attack you. And theyll get a lot of supporters for sucker punches, as well. Apparently it is impossible for some people to not fight.

Ultimately, the blame for this falls on the police. It is illegal to block a highway like that, and the police allowed it to happen anyway. When law enforcement decides to not enforce a law, and a person dies as a result, they are to blame.

Tell the people blocking the highway to disperse. If they refuse, arrest them. It is that simple.

Thanks for actually reading, responding and considering. That's rare nowadays and deserves credit. Let me clarify the desegregation bullet point. Segregation is caused by housing policies and patterns. That feeds into the school system. Those two combine to lower the life chances of black people and create experiences for white and black people so meaningfully different that they can't agree on basic facts on what life is like in America because they live separate lives in large part. American history pretty clearly shows that as long as school assignments are based on residency and as long as Supreme Court precedent still says you can't use racial quotas/reassignments in schools, housing segregation has to be tackled first. That can be addressed through getting rid of restrictions on multifamily buildings and other forms of zoning with a disparate impact, dramatically increasing the stock of affordable housing, greatly increasing enforcement of anti-discrimination laws, and increasing investment in both majority black and majority white areas so that it's not all sticks and no carrots for white communities and people can feel comfortable staying in their current communities.

Then you can tackle the schools by increasing the general funding of schools, decoupling school funding from racialized factors like zip code and wealth, utilizing strong federal incentives to voluntarily desegregate within X number of years etc.

Thats a pretty detailed list of things to consider. I will refrain from throwing out a knee-jerk response. This is will take a while to unpack.

Until at least those 4 things are done, there will not be any form of actual equality, which yes, does have to do with material equality because resources lead to opportunities. That's well understood, and yet that understanding seems to be lost or become controversial when race is brought up. It doesn't mean having the exact same possessions or workplace quotas, those are strawmen. But it will in fact require change that many would consider radical.

My opinion on WHO fluttered between neutral and suspicious of their ties to China, but it absolutely soured when that WHO senior advisor, Bruce Aylward, did his deflection nonsense when a reporter asked him about Taiwan. It reminded me of TV shows where one guy pretends he cant hear the other person on the phone, and is making fake static noises right before he hangs up.

There is no point in apologizing. People who expect and demand an apology are not actually looking for remorse from the person theyre upset at. Sports teams have always been a part of the military (primarily for recruiting). Esports are getting genuine coverage now (including ESPN) so its not surprise that that includes the military.

I had not thought of it that way before. The Army and the Navy make a really big deal of their football games against each other every year, if I remember correctly.

it does make sense from a morale boosting entertainment/recreation approach, considering recruits are pretty young and more accepting of video games.

Money wont solve this problem.

Its based on a feeling of resentment and you cant fix resentment by throwing money at it. It doesnt matter if its $10 or $10 Million to each individual. After its spent, people will gripe that it was not enough and they were cheated. Sadly, I have legal experience seeing this happen to close families who ended up fighting over wills with huge money payouts and big land divisions. They end up hating each other. Eventually, the kids and grandkids start with the same original arguments, then youre back to square one.

Thats not even taking into account the fact youd also have to tax people who are not descendants of slave owners in order to pay for this. It wont end well.

You say throw money at them, like its not what the actresses wants. They are offered more money to do a few hours or days of work, compared to what they would make doing some regular job.
