I often forget that we have a new generation of Internet users (Pre Y2K, 99ers, post Y2K babies) that either do not understand or care about how tech and the internet work.

Once you post , upload, download, anything on the internet, it is permanent. There is no going back, no erasure, no anything. No petition drive big enough to erase whatever or whoever you have done, posted or said.

For girls and guys who did porn, welp, you aren't special. You made the decision to do porn and you will have to live with that.

In the case of Mia Khalifa, she more than likely forgot or didn't care about the possibility that doing porn may affect certain things around her such as relationships.

Not many guys or girls are going to want to kiss and eat the leftovers of every man in the porn industry, and Mia pretty much realized that way too late in the game.

These kids need legal representation and consult before signing these contracts, to keep them from signing a shit ripoff of a contract, and make sure they get what they deserve.

I know for a fact I knew jack shit legally when I was their age when they started, paid jack shit attention to legal shit when I was that age, and I dont think I am alone in that regaurd. Far from it. And that's not even getting into the fact I'm not a lawyer, nor does knowing/understanding business law on a level that would make me able to parse what I'm sure was a excessively wordy boring legal document, nor would I be particularly prone to at a time where it was standing in the way of what inexperience in the world would make seem like a exciting great deal to a know nothing kid.

I also wouldnt have for a second thought about getting legal representation when I was a know nothing kid of their age either... ESPECIALLY if I had to pay them for their services and time, time I would have assuredly been irritated spending for on both counts. Real catch 22.

First, who is the contract with? She entered into a contract with whatever studio made her movies. But her content has since been uploaded by many other entities through piracy and what not. None of those entities have any legal rights to use anything.

Second, I am an attorney. Starting a lawsuit requires the court having jurisdiction over a defendant. Some of these sites arent based in the US, and the defendants would claim US courts lack jurisdiction over them. Assuming she even manages to serve them. Odds are they would actively avoid service regardless of their location. And then if she managed to get past those hurdles, they likely wouldnt show up. The companies would get a default judgment against them (no one is going to jail) and shes never be able to enforce it. If she got a monetary judgment, the entity would just disappear into the night because this is a seedy industry.

It's why, say, WWE can use footage of wrestlers who are dead or who are not currently a part of WWE. They could start airing footage of Owen Hart despite his wife clearly not wanting them to. You're basically signing away your likeness with it.
