Good, Columbus was a moron, and a ruthless killer.

Seriously, this. What other argument is there?

The argument is that Columbus, despite being terrible, is still the person responsible for the initial contact made between Europe and the New World, which ultimately led to the founding of the United States. Some people are quick to mention the Vikings, but they didn't establish any lasting colonies and the rest of Europe did not migrate to the New World because of the discovery either. Again, Columbus was terrible due to slavery, rape and so on, but trying to minimize or even outright disregard his impact on the history of European expansion into the Americas is silly.

(Keep in mind that I'm not saying he should continue to be honored with a holiday, and this is more just a rebuttal of people who basically say he didn't do anything important.)

I might not put Dark Souls in my own top 5, but it is still a damn good game. That's just a bunch of bullshit. You can already make fun of Christians as being ignorant, close-minded bigots. It happens a lot and there is very little backlash in the West, and you're also generalizing conservatives for some reason, which is common as well. Don't act like people can criticize Islam as easily without consequences like being labelled a racist.

I mean, if you can abort for literally no reason, I don't see the problem.

Why is this topic still going when this is so obvious? It comes down to whether or not you're ok with abortion. The down syndrome aspect doesn't come into it at all at this point

If your reason for aborting comes from a place of discrimination (people with down syndrome aren't capable of living happy, meaningful lives), then it does. Actions don't take place in contextual vacuums. The purposes, desires, and intentions informing actions must also be taken into account.

I think he makes a good point, but I kind of see where you're coming from. Currently, and for the most part, abortion is legal in Western societies. You don't have to have a reason beyond not wanting to birth the child. What some people find repulsive is when there is a reason and that reason would normally be considered discriminatory. For example, if we could 100 percent know that a fetus would eventually develop into a trans adult, I bet a lot of people who are pro-trans would be upset if a significant number of pregnant women were aborting for that reason. The discriminatory aspect might violate their principles, but abortion is something they might support, too.

It's pretty hard to find qualified brain surgeons and maybe just as hard to find an experienced, reliable guide for certain wilderness excursions. The point being is it would be easy to fire (or not even hire) someone who is just flipping burgers, but not all jobs are equal in their standards.

Side note: law enforcement might question this guy and keep an eye on him for his comments, but there's no way they'll do more than that because he didn' actually do anything and wasn't specific with his threat anyway.

I'd say that's American culture. America isn't just a white nation. It was created to be a place where many different ethnicities can share their culture while also adopting a common culture. I'm not white. I love football, eat sandwiches and went to home coming dances lol.

While that's true, it would also mean that there is not much (if anything at all) that would be exclusively one group's culture in the US, as well. For example, I would have considered rap and blues to be African American music, but many (millions?) white people, Asians and Latinos also celebrate and emulate those styles, so much so that they have professionals who perform it. One could argue that the history of slavery is African American culture, but even that is not exclusive because all US American students study it and there is no one still alive who can lay sole claim to that experience.

Good news! There have been and still are several white champions in modern boxing.

The Klitschko brothers, Vitaly and Wladimir, ruled the heavyweight division from 2004 to 2015. They are very tall (both at least 6'6"), so easy to tell from far away that they are white. Sadly, they retired but they deserve to be on a list of recently successful white fighters. Right now, Vasyl Lomachenko is probably the most exciting boxer because of his speed and dominance at featherweight. He is Ukrainian, which has less than 5 percent non-Russians and non-Ukrainians, so I'm pretty sure he is white. Speaking of Russians, Gennady Golovkin holds the middleweight belt and his father is Russian and mother Korean (I guess that still counts). And last but not least, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is another champion who is white. Yes, he is from Mexico and speaks Spanish, but he can't really fool anybody because he has red hair (hence the nickname) and you wouldn't doubt him if he said he was from Ireland, except maybe for his Mexican accent.

Korean is a completely different language structure to learn so it'll take a while for American English speakers to pick up, especially if you've never learned another language before. That being said, the writing/reading system is VERY easy.

Korean cultural/social interactions are quite nuanced, but one of the main things you should always remember is shake hands with strangers with two hands, bow when they bow, and when it's like an honored guest you accept and give things with two hands.

Thanks! I'm going to work at the language because I've been really liking a lot of the Korean movies lately.

1. Who mentioned the "world"?
2. This "cultural value" you mention is circular logic, you don't ban them because they have cultural value, but they have culture value because they aren't banned.
3. It's your opinion that making it illegal to be in possession of firearms wont make people turn them over to the government. I'd wager there are many people that are willing to follow the law than risk being fined and go to jail just so they can admire their gun collection that they can't show most people and can't bring out in public.

1. Are we only talking about the US? It seemed an open-ended question, but confining it to just the US makes the case of a hypothetical ban more clear that it won't ever be accepted and wouldn't work even if it was.
2. Nope. The US has a culture of firearms because of the historic significance firearms played in both securing its independence and expanding its borders westward through the New World. Surely you've noticed the romanticization of the Wild West and both mob and modern gang violence in American movies, songs, books and so on. The right to keep firearms is also written into their constitution as a means of self-defense, defense of the nation and a safeguard against oppression. It's not impossible to remove that right, but with an issue that near and dear to a lot of people, the US might need another big violent conflict to resolve it. (Good luck to you, if you're the one assigned to searching people's homes and removing their firearms by force.) We should also consider that the US develops and sells various types of firearms and ammunitions, so it's a dynamic part of their economy.
3. My opinion? Of course it is, just like it's your opinion that "many" people will surrender their firearms. I don't have a problem believing that some will and others won't. Even now, there are many citizens who do not own guns although they have the means to get one. I guess we will never know exactly how many will go either route. But just as Prohibition in the 20's failed to stop alcohol distribution and consumption and the drug war failed to stop people from smoking marijuana or cocaine, I seriously doubt a ban on firearms will have the effect you might be hoping for. Jailing all those people has also been extremely expensive for the government (in other words, taxpayers) and has had a huge negative impact on many communities.

How does 100% banning guns not work? I mean it works for Canada. You can't carry a gun for self defense here and we're not a heaping mess overrun with criminals that do have guns.

Canada is not the world. Canada is Canada. They don't have the same number of firearms in private possession as the US, for example, and they don't place the same cultural value on them either. Assuming you could ban them, that won't make the hundreds of millions of firearms disappear and it certainly won't automatically make owners turn them over to the government. Something to consider is that the costs to enforce that law would probably be quite high.

There's something about people wearing masks during a confrontation that makes me want to run an English longsword through them. It's like a primal distrust of bandits, I guess.
