TopicHonestly, how do you feel about Michael Jackson?

If you have enough money to pay a settlement and there is even a slight possibility a trial could lead to prison time, it is the smart choice to just pay the settlement. If you didn't actually do the crime, then paying a settlement is probably a terrible feeling to stomach, but it still beats jail. A guy like Michael Jackson could've died behind bars and his reputation would be even worse off. Right now we mainly have a lot of speculation. I do think he did a lot of questionable things like sleeping in the same bed as minors, but those kinds of acts just made it easier for some adults to go after Michael's money.

Max didn't seem to be very mad throughout the movie. IMO, Miffed Max is more accurate.

It's mad as in insane, not mad as in angry.

Yeah, I really like that movie. Some people complained that the plot was so simple (i.e. race against the bad guys in one direction, then turn around and do it again), but I feel that's part of the beauty of it. I did not really understand the other complaint about it being too pro-feminist. Yes, Charlise Theron and the other women had big roles, but Mad Max was clearly the hero and Nux had a nice story arc.

I'm a fan of his. But I want to see how he does against a big named fighter. I kinda have the same feel about him as I do for Triple G. They both really haven't "proven" their elite skill and are pretty much based on hype at the moment.

Yeah, I like Triple G a lot, but his team is probably trying to preserve his record. He still did pretty good in that last fight, but I think it was close.

Good on you for helping with the kids.

I always wondered how they killed the giant monster(s). I imagine they wouldn't have flamethrowers big enough for that thing

It's been a long ass time since I read the short story, but I kind of recall the Mist monsters couldn't really live outside of the Mist for too long. I think it implies, at least in the movie, that people might be able to wait out that process because the Mist looked like it was receding at the end.

At the highest levels of combat sports, sure. But the majority of fighters from amateur to the lower level pro leagues aren't cutting 25lbs to make weight. More like 8 to 10. Hell, look at Mighty Mouse. Best 125lb fighter to ever live but he still looks like a child. He'd kick my ass of course but that comes from the skill gap I mentioned earlier. Any WW, MW, LHW or HW that's a top 50 fighter would kill him because the skill gap is decreased making the size difference more noticeable.

TC is neither tall nor heavy framed, so I agree he probably does not cut a huge amount to get to his fighting weight. At any rate, the point is that fighters end up in their respective weight classes to approximate a level playing field. All fighters know this, so it's always strange to me when someone downplays another fighter's size or capabilities from a different weight class. You're really only supposed to be graded against your weight class peers (or in a pound per pound sense), and everyone is a pipsqueak standing opposite guys like Overreem and Hong Man Choi anyway.

I don't believe for a second that he doesn't remember writing entire books. There's too much planning that goes into writing a novel and cocaine doesn't really work that way. I think he just uses that as an excuse

That's not how Stephen King writes. He's explained many times, and going back to the beginning of his career, that he's much more loose and fast with his process than other writers. He's likened it more to unearthing a fossil, instead of designing a house. Nobody who is close to him professionally has ever disputed it.

125 lbs? Holy shit pipsqueak

This. It's like watching children fight at that weight. I sparred with a Thai guy about that size (he had a fight coming up and they wanted him to get harder). I felt like I was assaulting a child. He was fast but his punches and kicks didn't even hurt me and he was going full power (he's a damn good fighter as well, over 100 pro fights at 18 and 90% of those are wins). While he was better technically than me and faster, I'd buckle him over with a single body kick. Knocked him flat on his face with one leg kick that he even managed to check (I was only going at about 60% as well). When he would try to clinch, he'd get tossed around like I was throwing a toddler.

Oh, come on. You of all people should know that fighters cut weight to fight in lower weight classes. Tyron Woodley probably walks around at 195 solid, but he still cuts drastically to fight as champion at 170.

Why are conservative ideologies like this?

Muslims vote with liberals.

Muslims are conservative, though. Family values, and all that.

No, they're not. If they were conservative, they would vote conservative. They do the exact opposite of that.

Is it possible to be this out of touch

This is why it's baffling that liberals have fallen in love with Islam in the West. The US literally had a Muslim activist, who advocates for Sharia, lead the Women's March.

People need a license to drive, for example. You'd think running a decent background check on gun owners would be common sense. Plus "arms" does not necessarily mean "fire arms". Where do you draw the line, rocket launchers? LOL

Driving is not a good example, though. Driving is not a Constitutional right.

Rocket launchers sound interesting. How much do those cost?

Meh, laws change over time and they differ from state to state, country to country and so on. The government now has a case against the homeowner, but nobody else will have to worry about that intruder breaking into their home, so there's that.
