Kefka/Vercetti is this weird contest history footnote that felt pretty big at the time but I cant say that it was really influential after the fact. I ended up leaving it off. Well, it's notable because that match was the death of insta-updates forever because of BARRIERS and George Romero, so I'd have probably included it myself. Plus, it's one of the greatest round 1 matches of all time. _SecretSquirrel posted... The Gauntlet was Ganon vs. Auron, Snake vs. Zelda (we knew back then!), Sora vs. Alucard, Kirby vs. Tidus, and Bowser vs. Ryu. Yeah, that was the Gauntlet. It did end up being pretty disappointing since none of those matches were close, but man, on paper, that was a monster set of matches. --- |

FF6 fans loved Kefka and the site loved Sephiroth. Yeah, I feel like people who weren't here in 2003 don't understand just how hyped Kefka was. Magus is the one we all remember now because of how well he did against Link followed by his fall from grace, but lots of people expected big things from him. --- |

I have three days, but I don't know if I can raise it to rank 3 before then. Also my charm and courage are both rank 1. Building stats is tough in P3 simply because there are only 3. You should probably focus more on charm and courage right now because you've got plenty of time to build academics to ace a test, but you'll need max charm and courage way before then. --- |

The funny thing is that I just used the top ten in the Games Contest X-Stats (so I got the top 5 perfect), except I switched out Wind Waker and Starcraft for MGS1 and FFX because I thought those were just flukes. Not sure why I stuck with Halo all things considered, but good thing I did! I don't think ANYONE saw GoldenEye coming though. --- |

There was only a rally for Tifa because X was rallying first. And beating X is a really good win either way. Beating Luigi and Seph are legit victories, too. CaptainOfCrush posted... The 2004 games contest was the first time we saw how far SFF could extend, especially in Nintendo matches. The only notable SFF beatdown in 2002-03 (off the top of my head) was Mario/DK. Well, we didn't even totally understand the concept of SFF until 2004. That's why Sora was so thoroughly underestimated in 2004 because he got doubled by Aerith in 2003. --- |

As for 2006, I think it's safe to say that was Link's best year. As such, I still contend that Snake is likely to perform one or two percentage points worse against a Nintendo character than versus a non-Nintendo character of the exact same strength. So, what, are we saying 2013 Snake was just as strong if not stronger than 2013 Link? Anyway, listened at work today. Good episode and good work by the guests. --- |
