Yeah, plus they all seem compelled to be face to face with someone even if it's not who they're talking with. It's ok when they're already talking and approach to maybe get something off the desk or out of the drawer. Yet they'll instead approach first, look directly at me, then start talking. KogaSteelfang 07/26/21 8:26:40 PM #2	I tried therapy for about 6-7 months several years ago. It was awful and turned me off from the idea. I'm just now starting reconsider and it's been years. I'm glad you've had a good experience with it though, and I think it's a good idea for anyone considering it go ahead and give it a shot as well... At first it people claiming it was a hoax, and supporting Trump that were cussing at me for wearing one at work, despite it being a state mandate and required to keep the job(would've worn one regardless though). Now, it's the people who previously supported mask wearing that get angry at me for wearing one. "Don't you know that you don't have to wear that thing?" KogaSteelfang 07/26/21 3:51:12 PM #1	At least when they act weird about it. Today I pulled up to work, and was a bit early so I was just sitting in my car browsing on my phone. That's when a coworker approached my window, looked at me, and said "Hey." So I greeted them back, and they kept standing there looking at me, so I asked how they were... Only for them to notion sarcastically that they were on the phone and pointing to their ear. Okay, sure... but maybe find somewhere else to talk then? Why would you approach someone like that if you're going to talk to someone else instead? It's not just this time either, I've got 2 other coworkers that do the same thing. That will approach and start talking, just for it to turn out it's not me they're talking to. When I'm on the phone, I step away from everyone else, even though I'm using a very visible phone instead of one of those earbud ones. Its so embarrassing every time it happens. Why do they feel the need to be next to someone like that? It's weird. --- Work in progress, please be patient.

KogaSteelfang 07/25/21 11:40:58 AM #17	Currently, yes. The job itself is great, but the massive influx of travellers this summer is too much for me. I can't handle crowds, and being cussed out constantly really hurts. The owners did the previous manager dirty and replaced them basically with crooks. The new management is driving the place into the ground, but is covering it up with good numbers from the massive travel boost that's happened recently. The owners are too impressed with the numbers to see how poorly the place is being operated(losing repeat guests and employees at an insane rate, none of the problems get fixed because we're not allowed to acknowledge them). There are now notices posted all over the office stating immediate termination if we put a room out to fix a problem. --- Work in progress, please be patient.

The last thing I want when I'm out is to draw attention. pionear posted... But in all seriousness, why do you have trouble with it? Your Anxiety is that bad? It is, or I guess it was. I still struggle with it, but it's a lot better after nearly 2 years in a public facing job where I deal with people a lot. I still can't handle crowds very well at all though, especially at work where they're all focusing on me. But as far as shopping goes, I'm no longer afraid of the cashiers or mortified by asking someone to unlock the game case. It's progress. --- Work in progress, please be patient.

What makes you think people like this don't make up a large portion of the group? Those are real conditions that people have, so I don't think it's so unlikely that a portion of the population that is struggling socially might just have social disorders. I know I do. I'm not on the spectrum, but I do have social phobia disorder, depression, and some trauma that makes it super difficult to interact with others irl. It's a cycle, each of those conditions feeds the other and I end up in mental spiral.
