Personal fan favorite suggestions:

Ed, with a pebble in his shoe (Ed, Edd n Eddy|Over-Powered) - Definitely one of the big surprises of the Over-Powered game, he managed to get most of the way through the game largely due to extreme grumpiness and cartoon physics. MVP Banshee, Asura, Missingno. and Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar were also solid entries from this game.

Walt and Jesse (Breaking Bad|Pairs) Made it most of the way through by poisoning most of the contestants, leaving the biggest lasting effect without winning. Paradox Brothers were also one of the most fun entries of this game.

HIM (Powerpuff Girls|American Animation) - Similarly to Walt/Jesse's poison, HIM inflicted delusions, influencing the game even when not getting kills.

Deadpool (Marvel|Marvel vs. DC) - Didn't make it far, but 4th wall-break shenanigans made him one of the most memorable contestants, both in that game and later ones.

Stelio Kontos (American Dad!|HG III) - STEEEELIO! STELIO KON-TOS! probably the one fan favorite that 100% has to get in, imo

Alessa Gillespie (Silent Hill|Children) - Had her biggest effect after dying, due to the haunting Memory of Alessa.

Magic School Bus and Ecco the Dolphin (Elements) - Probably the two that were the most fun to write in that game. They were both surprise threats, with Ecco dragging people to watery deaths (often with sais, for some reason) while the Magic School Bus would flatten people at any moment.

Bill Cipher (Gravity Falls|Villains) - Like Alessa and Deadpool, had a huge effect after dying.

Grandmother Willow (Pocahontas|Disney) - Despite being a literal tree, had a recurring significant role in many of the games, especially early on.

Prince Brandish (Fables|Hatred) - Somehow managed to become the most despised character in a game all about hated characters.

Fred Durst (Fight Club|Fight!) - This one just happened, no need explaining. Mike Haggar and Lu Bu were good contestants here too (especially since, despite Snake getting 2nd place technically, story-wise Haggar was basically a runner up).

Keep in mind, these are just some personal favorites from the games I remember (and inevitably, a lot are from games I wrote because those are the ones I have the easiest time remembering).

Most of you know the drill by now. A bunch of user-nominated characters are thrown into a random generator that says who does what, who kills who, etc. The host uses the random output to write a story about how it all goes down. At the end, one winner is declared.

The 24th Hunger Games will be different. All the runner-ups and warriors from previous games, in addition to a group of fan favorites, will have one more chance to compete to try and be the 24th winner, and get entered into the Hunger Games XXV Championship
