I really dug Last Voyage of the Demeter.

Glad I got to see it in theaters, I feel like I wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much otherwise

Hertzfeldt and Aster is not a collab I ever thought I'd see, holy shit

Saw Immaculate. There are aspects that were great and some that were pretty weak

The good, Sydney Sweeney's performance here went all out, especially in the last like 20 minutes. It was absolutely dark and made great use of the set design to really make the church feel terrifying

The bad, it really felt very obviously written/directed by a man. Like some scenes like Gwen talking about her abusive ex while the camera is zoomed to show her see-through shirt felt pretty needlessly exploitative. It also has one of the stupidest villain plans I think I've seen in a horror movie. Like none of these assholes understand how pregnancy works, under what reality is constant horrifying treatment and torture going to be the way to get this girl to healthily give you this child?

Overall I enjoyed it for what is was but it's not one I'd call a favorite by any stretch

Also Lucas Pope making a Playdate game is the most compelling argument in favor of it I've heard yet

I was wondering if that would be the new #1!

I thought it was excellent, though I don't think it quite lived up to all the hype surrounding. A must-see of the year for sure but I don't think it reaches my top tier

It is coming near me but I won't be around all next weekend so hopefully it actually lasts more than a week in theaters

Yeah, I'm pretty not thrilled, finally agreeing to pay the old star because they mistreated their new stars to the point it threatened to destroy the entire movie just feels so shady

like I guess I can't fault people for wanting a probably massive paycheck but I'm still a little disappointed Campbell and Williamson agreed to the project tbh

it's just such a shame, Scream has been legitimalely one of my favorite horror franchises

can't speak for anyone else but basically all my horror watching right now is the 80s horror list which I can't speak much about.

I DID watch Lisa Frankenstein though (which isn't really horror comedy in the tradtional sense as much as horror-inspired comedy a la Ghostbusters)

There was a very strong Edward Scissorhands/Beetlejuice vibe to it in the way that I think it's going to be a really big cult favorite in like 20 years with whatever replaces the Hot Topic teens at that point. Very weird and silly with weird pacing and writing (not bad, just odd). I had a great time with it

I don't put it on the same level as Alien but definitely the others. Predator and Halloween are good for their monsters primarily, but Get Out was smarter and more interesting imo

Alien destroys the lot of them though.

Yeah the back half of the 2010s has had some really excellent stuff

And tbh I would take Get Out over Jaws, Halloween and Predator though that's subjective

What's not subjective is the cultural phenomenon that Get Out was and the effect it had on the horror landscape

I forgot to mention but I also saw Founder's Day around a week ago, though I think I was less into it than Charon was

It's fun in a kind of so hammed up it's goofy way sometimes, but I could never really tell when it was being intentionally funny or accidentally funny. Like, at times they try to play it straight like a regular horror movie, or at least a spoofy horror like Scream (which seems to be the main inspiration) but other times it's just ridiculous. I'm sorry Mr. Jackson, I've learned my lesson!

Then by the end every single named character beyond the main girl and her dad is either killed or a killer. The motivations are almost entirely shallow and inconsistent, to the point that it feels like the writers just kept hitting plot holes and were like "oh, just make them the killer too."

also, my biggest problem with the movie, WHY WAS THE BATHTUB IN HER BEDROOM? WHAT ARE THE LOGISTICS OF THAT??

I don't know why but Tremor throwing a Boulder up into his shoulders for virtually no reason on the victory screen cracked me up

It wasn't even like a "look how strong I am" pose, he just decided to hold a Boulder

I feel like making this procedurally generated was a mistake.

This is basically how I feel anytime a game is procedurally generated; it is almost always going to be worse than real level design. It's one of my biggest issues with rougelikes

I don't think any fatality has ever made my jaw just drop the way this one did, every single step of the way here is terrifying. There's like 4 different places where lesser fatalities would've stopped, but this one just kept going

JB wanted to see what would happen if Injustice didnt pull its punches, and this fatality gives us an idea of what we could expect from that hypothetical Flash: using super speed to cause a serious case of friction burn. If that werent creative enough, Kabal running back in the opposite direction to get his hookswords so the speeding opponent can fly right into them is an excellent way to finish this.

I watched this thinking "Man this reminds me a lot of the Flash finisher" before reading the description.

I played a lot as F/T in MKX, and this one always cracked me out. Ferra's little shout to get pulled back out sells it for me

I swear Zahn McClarnon is the go to for just about every Native character out there. Not that I'm really complaining though

Being a fan of Reservoir Dogs adds some fun to the show with all the shared actors.

You mean Reservation Dogs? This definitely made me more excited to start Echo; Reservation Dogs is easily one of the best shows of the decade

it feels weird being behind on MCU shows when I used to watch them on premiere like every time. I'm only 3 episodes into What If and nowhere close to starting Echo

Kronika was indeed eligible. She was at number 178, which I think was too low in retrospect. I think what happened with her is that by the time I got to her in my ranking, there had been so many fatalities that I was using specific ones to denote tiers and comparing new ones to those, before deciding on where exactly to rank once I had decided not to place it in the next tier up. I'm sure it would rank higher if I did this again in future.

Yeah, should've specified, I saw her fatality, I meant the fatality against her when you beat her in the story mode. I don't remember if it's actually classified as a fatality directly or if it's just a cutscene

Is there a list of what characters are left?

Also I forget if it was mentioned, but is Kronika's story ending fatality eligible? If so that would've been a top 10er for me:
