I don't think I've ever heard it put that way before. "Starting over".

However, in relation, I HAVE seen people get married and suddenly stop hanging out with their single friends.

It might be very subtle at first, but eventually it becomes blatantly obvious what's happening.

They don't like hanging out with their single friends as much, and prefer to hang out with other married couples. Dinner dates. Movie nights. Vacations and stuff. A bunch of married friends all together.

Which they are totally allowed to do! Don't get me wrong! But they definitely left all their single friends in the dust. And that's kinda troubling.

But when they need someone to watch their dogs or something, or help them move, or pack up stuff, etc.....they call their single friends for slave labor.

I was at a little get-together where my best friend was renewing his wedding vows a few years back, and this was one of the surprisingly RARE get-togethers where there was an assortment of single and married people present. I will never forget a very particular observation I made. One of my friends was single, and this married couple was meeting him for the first time. Very nice guy. And another friend of mine they had never met was married. They took much more interest in the married guy, and asked all these questions about his wife, how they met, where they are from, if they'd like to do a double date sometime, etc.

And I was just like.....holy shit. What??? You just completely overlooked the guy who was single like he was completely invalid in your eyes.

Just honed right in on the guy who was married. "OHH!? YOU'RE MARRIED!!!! ONE OF US!!! ONE OF US!!!!! LET'S HANG OUT!?!?! LET ME SEE A PICTURE OF YOUR WIFE!?!? OMG!!!!"

It was kinda fucked up.

Real subtle. And maybe the average person wouldn't think much of it. But it really stood out to me.

I'm that drunk that gets kinda quiet and just tingly and at peace....and looks around and drinks in deep philosophical thoughts and sometimes giggles at invisible things.

And sometimes my silence catches people's attention.....and they're like, "Hey! Are you okay!? You're really quiet over there!"

And then everyone suddenly seems to take notice of me all at the same time. And it makes me shy. And then they're like, "Are you mad, bruh!?"

And I'm like, "No! I'm just chillin"

And they're like, "No, you're mad! Or sad? What's the matter!?! Didn't get any numbers tonight!? Har har har har har!!!"

And then I start to get upset, because people are assigning me my emotions because they can't process the fact that I'm literally just being quiet and chill.

And then it becomes a thing where everyone is focused on me now, and I just want them to stop.

And then I realize that maybe all of my friends are assholes, and this exact scenario has happened waaaay too many times in my life. And I kinda prefer to just be alone at home watching Netflix because I have no real friends.

I played it all the way up to the final dungeon.

I remember it being reasonably enjoyable up until then.

I liked how you would literally BECOME the summons. That was a cool spin on things.

Some of the playable characters were OP, and some were complete shit.

The graphics weren't too bad. But they weren't the best.

The world map was very nostalgic, and I remember wishing the entire time that there was an airship in the game....

Imagine my surprise when I later found out that there IS an airship.....but it can only be obtained at a very specific time in the game and you can easily miss it???

Yeah. That was some bullshit right there.

And the final dungeon was so difficult and annoying, I honestly gave up.

It is one of TWO games I have ever owned in my entire life that I never beat.

Fuck the final dungeon in type-0, and fuck the final chapter in Odin Sphere for PS2 where if you play the characters in the wrong order, you will fight the final boss as the shitty fairy character and basically be impossible.

I hated having a puppy. Because this was my life for a while.

You need to keep the little bastard outside until it finally poops or pees, and then you praise the hell out of him, give him lots of pets and tummy rubs, etc. And then you go back inside immediately and give them treats.

I've stood outside for over an hour sometimes. But I refused to go inside until the puppy peed or pooped.

They need to make that mental association, otherwise you will never make any progress. They will keep associating your home with a place that's perfectly acceptable to piss and shit in.

I have no idea how it started....but Dragon's Den episodes keep getting recommended to me on YouTube. And I started really getting into them. Some people have some really good and bad ideas....and seeing them make a pitch for money from a panel of wealthy British people is extremely entertaining. I feel kinda ashamed watching it. I've always been partial to Helen Mirren.

Sadly, Hollywood in general is very sexist against woman. Once they hit 40, they get type-casted into boring "mother" roles, or comedy supporting roles.

Alien and Aliens with Sigorney Weaver were very close to awesome. But nothing quite did it like that ever again, without needing to pointlessly sexualize the main character, or add some romantic spin on the narrative.

I really hope they make a live action Metroid movie some time. And they either never show her human body throughout the entire movie, or when they finally do....she's muscular, serious, older, and not at all sexy or feminine. A believable female bounty hunter that kills giant aliens. Not some precious little flower of an instagram model.

I'm not saying there is no value to walking simulators. But I'm definitely saying that they have become the lazy man's replacement for reading a book and simply envisioning the adventure due to clever writing and (shocked expression) imagination.

Some people don't want to put forth the effort to read a book to have a narrative experience. They want it animated and interactive. Read out to them by someone else. To sit back and "passively" experience it on rails.

It kinda reminds me of motion comics. I hate those things. Aren't regular comics good enough? You can't envision it beyond that? It needs to be voiced and semi-animated? Because making it into a full-on movie/animation would take too much time?

It's just weird.

Most walking simulators are boring.

Death Stranding should have just been a Netflix series or a movie. Awesome concept and story. Absolutely abysmal and pointless gameplay purely designed to stretch out the cutscenes.

Of course people are entitled to disagree with this opinion. But it is what it is.

I will never forget watching my brother play Metroid Prime 1 waaay back in the day. On the Gamecube. Christmas break of 2002.

It was fucking epic.

Even if humans are homeless, sick, drug-addicted, uneducated, and blind.....they will still be able to breed in pretty much any environment. It probably won't be the happiest life for the parents or the child (especially), but it won't stop them from breeding.

So it just seems weird that fish in a tank won't be able to breed if something as petty as ammonia levels are too high, or the water is 1 degree too cold, you know?

Have you ever bought fish from a pet store? Have they ever had babies?

I've owned fish all my life. Various kinds. Never saltwater fish, though (toooo expensive). Always in very big tanks that I treat with love and care. I do my research (so don't try to shame me before you know all the facts). I make sure the breeds that I have living together get along with each other. I make sure they don't live in too small or big of a tank. I clean the tank and the water often.

And I don't know why it never occurred to me before....but it hit me today how strange it is that my fish have never had babies. Ever.

I have never seen my fish lay eggs or give birth to live young.

Why don't my fish breed?

It's kinda depressing.

Is it because living in a tank kills your sex drive?

Is it something I'm doing wrong?

I'll have various members of the same species....so if it's a male or female thing.....surely there are two that would hit it off.

And then I thought that maybe they ARE having babies....and they are just eating the eggs/babies before I can see them.

Which is kinda fucked up, and you would think they would only resort to such behavior if they were starving to death or something.

This crap happens all the time, sadly. The production companies don't care about the quality of the film, they only care about a release date and making money. So they hire a crap writer and a crap director just to make sure the movie comes out Christmas 2017 like they promised. And then the movie turns out to be shit.

i was just watching the making of Alien 3 and it looked like the same thing. The producers just greenlit a movie with no script and it turned out awful.

The laziness and greed just astounds me.

But when I needed to make a PowerPoint presentation in high school....the teacher would act like the fate of the universe was on our shoulders. Submitting drafts. Doing practice runs. Writing papers ABOUT the PowerPoint, etc. Making it into this epic adventure that lasted a month until we all have perfect presentations, that we would then do on the big screen in the auditorium for random faculty and staff to "sit in" on and watch.

And then you have Hollywood movies, with THOUSANDS of people involved.....with MILLIONS of dollars at stake....based on a critically acclaimed book series that has been around since the 70's.....and they're just like, "Pump the movie out. Quick. Who needs a script? We just want bank."

It's offensive.

Has anyone here read the Stephen King books?

I loved them. Roland is an awesome character. The world was very unique and terrifying. It's an epic journey. The last 3 books get extremely bizarre (because of King's real life car accident near-death-experience).....and the ending had to be rewritten because of fan outcry...........but it's still his magnum opus.

The graphic novels are pretty good as well.

And there was talk for DECADES about adapting it into a film series, or TV series. Ron Howard was attached for the longest time. There were rumors about Viggo Mortensen playing Roland....and then Javier Bardem.....

And then, seemingly out of nowhere.....BAM! Idris Elba is Roland Deschaine of Gilead.....in a ONE movie deal....that isn't quite a sequel or a prequel, but an entirely new story!!!!

And fans were like.............."What. The. Actual. Fuck?"

And, big surprise......the movie failed. In literally every way imaginable.

And, sadly, because of that trash.....it lowers the chances of someone doing it right anytime soon....because nobody wants to touch something that failed so badly.

But it failed so badly because they TREATED it like trash. And everyone saw it coming.

How does crap like this happen?

Hyper Light Drifter is an overhead pixel art Zelda-esque game.
Aegis Defenders is one part Metroidvania and one part tower defense. Pixel art. It's extremely unique and good!
Iconoclasts is an amazing pixel art Metroidvania.
Owlboy is a pixel art Metroidvania.
Children of Morta is an overhead Diablo pixel art roguelike.
Crossing Souls is an overhead pixel art action adventure puzzle game. Hard to describe.
Vane is a 3D realistic exploration puzzle game similar to Journey and Shadow of the Colossus. Extremely bizarre. But flying around as a bird has never felt more beautiful.
Hard Corps Uprising is a sidescrolling shooter. Technically a Contra game....but with anime. Some of the best hand-drawn sprites I've seen in a long time, with 3D backgrounds and bosses.

I almost forgot about Axiom Verge!
