Most people I know say life keeps getting better the older you get until you hit the 60s. Even the 60s are relatively "young" given that the average life span in the US is almost 80 years. Expect that number to be even higher by the time we're all in the later years.

Male circumcision has noted medical benefits and is as close to 100% safe as any surgery can be. FGM is not the same thing by a long shot. It is dangerous, and it has no noteworthy benefits. The comparison is disingenuous.

I don't fit the bill at all. I didn't like any of it. Meanwhile, you dropped those nuggets about Luke being a Jedi master training new recruits, and Leia being a major figure in the new republic, which are things the EU featured prominently.

Luke had a temple and something happened to it. He wasn't ready to be a true master. He thought he was, due to his own deeds, but he was imperfect and it caused a lot of pain. We came in near the end of his story, not the middle.

How many of them did you read?

Probably ten or fifteen books, total, from different periods. The Thrawn trilogy was garbage, but the Yuuzhan Vong shite was awful.

Adam Driver is my favorite part of the Sequels, easily. I gained a lot more love for all the "main trio" in RoS, though. They finally got screen time all together, and Rey got some meaningful development and a surprising amount of depth.

TYD is a big improvement in pretty much every way. All the charm is preserved, it's a bigger game, it has better visuals (though the first one looks really good, imo), and a more substantial story line.

That said, it's pretty clearly a sequel to the same game. There isn't a huge deal of difference in the gameplay, just more of it. I think the locations are better realized, though.

They disregard it because Toriyama said it's a "side story," and he still has ownership of Dragon Ball in meaningful ways. Toriyama didn't sell it, he passed it along. He still has input. George Lucas outright sold Star Wars; his input is no longer relevant.

Notice how Dragon Ball Super was still mostly made by Toei, but Toriyama did an outline, so it's considered to be mostly canonical.

Sure it made money but compared to other Star Wars films, it's a pretty big disappointment.

Even adjusting for inflation, The Force Awakens is second only to the long run of the original Star Wars. The Last Jedi is 5th when adjusting for inflation. This trilogy has made a ton of money, even compared to a lot of other Star Wars movies.

Sorry to tell you this, but Disney owns Star Wars. This is the canon going forward. It's also not the conclusion of Star Wars, but the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga. There's a difference.

How does the canon work in Super? I always thought the Anime was the canon there.

The anime is canon to the anime, and the manga is canon to the manga, while the "real canon" is vague. The only things that are absolutely canon in Super are the things that happen in both the manga and the anime, because those things were most likely part of the Toriyama outline.

People like to get involved in long plot lines with intricate details. When filler happens (like Garlic Jr in DBZ, or 40% of Naruto) it muddies the waters of discussion. Filler and non-canon material is almost universally less polished than the original author's own work, especially in terms of continuity, so it confuses people who don't know the difference.

All you need to do is look at the Dragon Ball board to understand--the anime version of the tournament of power is almost entirely filler/non-canon to the Toriyama outline, but people keep trying to use the non-major battles as evidence of power levels and fighting ability. It ruins the discourse when something like Dragon Ball Heroes comes along and destroys the scaling on purpose. Fun as it is to watch, it doesn't deepen the mythos of Dragon Ball, because it literally never happened.
