That's part of it. This kind of thing is actually the only thing that DOES work anymore. Sudden, loud, overwhelming numbers of bad reviews and complaints have done a lot of good lately. It has to be huge, though.

A good non-gaming example of this was the Sonic movie trailer. People memed on the design so hard that the studio spent millions redoing the CGI to look more like... you know, Sonic.

Then the movie was a strong success. It's almost like listening to the audience is a good way to get money from the audience.

I did it once just for the meme, but that kind of thing obviously doesn't worry me like it worries others.

I love that shit. Like in law and order Criminal Intent, Goren was an insanely good analyst and profiler. He was super compelling to watch.

I also love supernatural or superpower gimmicks, too. Like Vibe from The Flash, who could get bits and pieces of what happened and where the perpetrators were at the present time.

Yeah, this was a huge controversy at the time. It was near the height of WoW's popularity (on the tail end of it). Basically, in 2010 they had a system called "Real ID" which was a way for players to be friends between Blizzard games. The system was only for "real" friends who were allowed to know each others' real names.

It worked fine. Some of my IRL friends and even a few online ones were on my list.

The problem was that Blizzard wanted to "reduce toxicity" on the forums by forcing people to use their Real ID profile in order to post at all on the public forums.

This was very unpopular. People were extremely angry right away. The community managers tried to calm people down by pointing out that knowing someone's real name "wasn't a big deal," so in a show of good faith, they shared their real first and last name.

Almost immediately, this poor individual was subject to credit card applications, pizza deliveries, doxxing, etc.

Shortly after that, Blizzard walked back the decision.

It absolutely murdered their trajectory, and the fact Steam was forcing them to honor refunds because of the change was a big blow, too.

Once again, Steam proves that all it has to do is offer a strong service and reasonable customer service policies, and they just keep winning.

It was inevitable. That was one of the hardest, most universal backlashes I've seen against any stupid corporate decision in the gaming world.

The only thing that even competes with it was when Blizzard tried to force people to use their real first and last names on the forums like a decade ago.

And the Pride and Accomplishment reddit post about Star Wars Battlefront II. That's another legendary one.

I decided not to play it during the controversy to keep the player numbers down, but no way am I refunding it. Corporate bullshit aside, it's my favorite game this year.

The first movie was definitely more actiony than not, though. There was intro stuff in the beginning, but once the power went out the whole thing was an extended chase/survival sequence. I get that the original was smarter (on account of being based on a Crichton book, a guy known for being very into hypothetical science stuff), but the original was very much action-oriented.

He's so psychologically shredded that he just accepted defeat humbly. You know, like Magneto would do.

I watch the clip of that scene very regularly. I love how they tell him he still has his power right before sending him away in metal police cars... but he's so psychologically annihilated that he doesn't even try to escape.

My family has a long running joke of randomly giving praise to the glorious fallout because of this movie.

Yeah, I've felt this way for a long time. The concept of the prequel trilogy is amazing. Take out all the weird dialog and a couple of awful writing decisions, and there's a lot to love.

I drink probably 80/20 water to soda ratio. Great Value bottled water tastes great and is incredibly cheap.

Genisys is the one I've seen the most hate for online. I tapped out of the series after Salvation, which was... decent at best.

Okay, but the word "better" does not mean the same thing as "ideal" or "perfect."

Your chance of surviving with the 25 pound weight is much better than your chance of surviving with the 90 pound weight.

Ideally you'd have 0 weight, or even a floatation device, but the scenario doesn't include those as an option.

Do you understand what the word "better" means?

The first one was solid fun throughout.

Second one was weird and dumb.

It doesn't suck. I've liked much more of the recent Star Wars stuff than I've disliked.

This was definitely my hurdle when it came to watching it. It was a fun enough show to watch when I had nothing better to do, but the constant rebooting made it hard for me to feel like there was an overarching plot.

With DBZ, even if I missed a few episodes, it was easy to follow what was going on because of recaps and the straightforward vibe of the story. I never felt lost watching DBZ.

I literally had no fucking idea what was going on in Tenchi Muyo at any given time, and even when I thought I did, I was wrong, so I never got invested.

Superman is probably the most iconic superhero, as a lot of other designs are based directly off of him, but he's not the most popular.
