Your choices do affect the scenes you see and the endings you get, but you'll want to use a flowchart. It's a lot more arbitrary than Zero Escape.

What's the "production defect?" It's a shame this game hasn't been rereleased at all.

Disc 4 may or may not be missing the voice.dat file, meaning all of the voice acting may just not be there. Hirameki, the company that localized E17, had a download link for voice.dat, but that link's been dead for years.

Please don't do that, there are zero games in this world worth 1 grand, and E17 is nowhere close to that. It's very easy to find it for free, plus a large portion of E17 copies have a production defect that you don't want to deal with.

Beat the game. Final boss was kind of terrible. On the whole, the game was clearly groundbreaking for 1998, but the jank is absolutely overwhelming at times.
