Flash Gordon is pretty much Indiana Jones if he were part of the Star Wars universe. But his enemy is Ming the Merciless from the Planet Mongo. (That's Mongol without the L.) That one gets bathwatered. Batman and James Bond had some serious racism and sexism going on in the early days. But they're able to shake that dust from off their shoes and move on because, as properties, they've never left the limelight. They can't be remembered as "racist old stories" because they were never old. There was always some new iteration available to keep them modern instead of letting us look back and say, "I don't like Batman. He thinks Japanese-Americans should be put in internment camps." |

Like, the flying ships are all different colors and the transformed kings are more animated. In the NES version, you have a king transformed into a dog who scratches himself and another who becomes a seal which balances a crown on his nose. In the SNES version, all of the ships are wood brown and the kings are just recycled sprites of enemies from various Mario games. The All-Stars version is still better by virtue of having a save feature, but it's odd that the NES version would have a little more effort put into presentation than the SNES counterpart. |

In the wake of Trump's insurrectionist activities, and the way that so many in the party still refuse to cut ties, one might be forgiven in assuming right-wingers are hive-minded. (A lot of them have the same assumption about the left, so there's that.) We like to think of a strong woman as a free-thinking socialist defenders of strong womanhood with dyed purple hair and a "not my president" haircut. But most of the women who build muscle are gonna think the way guys who build muscle think. And that's usually the macho right-wing mentality. Besides, even among the right-wingers who think that women should all wear dresses and act dainty, I'm sure a much higher percentage that would readily admit it would jump at the chance to be with a woman like Gina. If you idealize John Wayne, chances are you'd date Joan Wayne whether or not you'd advertise that fact to your friends. |

That said, Don Jr. might have a point. Not all Chinese people are responsible for what's happening to Muslim minorities. But if Disney is directly working in the areas where genocide is taking place, and working with those directly responsible for what's going on in that country, that's not exactly acceptable behavior on their end. I'm not calling for Gina to be given her job back. But Disney shouldn't be dealing with those who commit genocide. |

On one hand, I support the server's right to show support to a noble cause and her willingness to leave when told it conflicted with the company's dress code. On the other hand, I support a restaurant's right to remain strictly neutral. And while it shouldn't be a political issue, wearing a Black Lives Matter mask is absolutely tantamount to wearing a Biden 2020 mask. If I were a manager, I wouldn't want the inevitability of a totally-not-bigoted patron getting mad at the server and making a scene. Considering this restaurant got canceled, I don't think restaurants collectively are going to be allowed to remain neutral zones any longer. If they don't want any social or political messages, maybe they should have it in the dress code that the masks must be "without text." |

If The Walking Dead isn't boasting about how good they are for having Black, Asian, and LGBTQ characters, they're not *really* being diverse. For what it's worth, I did see one article praising the fact that literally all of the active couples (at the time of the article) were either interracial or same-sex. |

Child porn can still be barred. But the US government cannot mandate the censorship of non-pornographic child nudity in foreign films released in the US. |
