Fair competition is important. So is being your true self. It's unfortunate that some people are born in the wrong bodies. It's unfortunate that there isn't a way to level the playing field.

But, really, if we're going to talk about distractions and priorities, everyone should be harping on the plight of border children and the victims of American police until both issues are resolved.

Using a minority to blame everything on and distract from other issues is a tried and tested tactic.

Speaking of other issues, how about we prioritize getting border children out of cages or stopping police brutality? Those are both immeasurably more important than determining who is allowed to run across a field, catch a ball, or fight in a ring.

We can eliminate all weight and gender restrictions in sports sports if it means freeing those children or stopping cops from murdering people and claiming self-defense.

If he's photographed wearing a mask and waving hello to Obama from a distance of six feet or more, it would cover all bases.

I never understood why this is even controversial. I am a 250-pound, 6'2" guy. If I transition into a woman over the next few years, I'm still gong to have most of the benefits that came with being male for several decades. It wouldn't be fair for me to enter women's boxing and just start pounding ladies who are going to be 5'4"/160 lbs. on average. This isn't "transphobic"; it's reality. People are concerned to a fault with being politically correct.

If superheroes were real, people would be saying it was discriminatory not to let the woman who lifts 50,000 tons or the man who jumps over buildings compete.

I think they stayed within the lines: some very curvy lines.

There have been headlines about weightlifting competitions. If an individual undergoes gender reassignment treatment before they hit puberty, it's fair. If you have testosterone muscle, adding a little estrogen isn't going to change that.

She would have been in last place. I for one am concerned because every single cis woman steamrolled over the lone trans woman competing. Maybe we should review the rules, and look into banning them if they're dominating by this much.

The best cis female athletes are going eclipse the worst cis male athletes and trans female athletes.

Minecart is a fun rollercoaster. The best time to try and get on it (if you can't get a fast pass) is when the evening fireworks start. The line will drop significantly. Other than that, it's usually a one to two hour wait.

The line also dies down if it rains. I was able to get on it in about twenty minutes.

It still blows my mind that "most men don't want" a woman like Teela, if she was straight. Looks wise, I mean. Us snu snu guys exist, sure, but to me its just wierd that the majority of men aren't attracted to tough women with muscles. Her design is basically goddess level to me.

Not speaking on behalf of that poster, but it's possible to be both. (In context, I mean.)

She's from an older series and occupies a role traditionally held by the hero's love interest. Nobody in 1982 would have thought to ask, "Is Teela gay?" Fast-forward to the present and Teela is the "strong masculine lesbian" stereotype to a T. The only thing is the show won't commit to her being lesbian.

As such, her position doesn't really suit anyone. Heterosexual men aren't likely to find her attractive or easy to identify with. Lesbians who may find her attractive or identifiable are potentially slighted because the producers won't admit she's one of them. So who does she appeal to? A niche market of masculine heterosexual women? The asexual gladiatrix fanbase?

By all means, they should state that she's lesbian -- at least in this continuity. It's not going to rewrite history if He-Man and Teela kissed in a comic book. What matters is who she is to this continuity at this time. If she's gay, she's an iconic LGBTQ hero taking the lead. If she's presumed hetero, she's a character that women can't have and most men don't want.

It was a decent movie. It's just... the opening scene should not have happened.

You can introduce a new hero without doing that.

Some of the loudest voices about this are people (not speaking about the TC) who are very anti anything progressive. Meaning women in general. So I don't want to give my full support to it. But it is true .

Look at Abby for example. And Teela , she yelled at parents right after their son "died " Right after everyone was telling her how great she was. Look at Carol Danvers she went for a good nature person who would tell someone off if they needed to. To someone who arrest people before they do crimes.

Oddly one of the only people to escape this in recent years is Rey. And that is because they throw away her own story and made her all about fucking kylo.

Rey did not escape hate.

She might not get as much as some of the other women, but she still got it. Maybe it's because people were more distracted by the other problems going on -- like beloved characters getting ruined and territorial pissings over what was or was not canon.

Id like to know what CEs gay community thinks about the accusations that this show is queer baiting. Basically the belief that Teela is being presented as gay, but Mattel isnt brave enough to let her officially come out. So in an attempt to rope in an LGBQT audience they actually trapped Teela in the closet and did the opposite of empowering.

They might as well. Her being a mannish heterosexual isn't going to satisfy anybody.

Teela and He-Man weren't really love interests. There's the slightest tease at the end of The Problem With Power, but that was it. If most men dislike the new look, and there are women who like the way she looks, they might as well go ahead and appeal to an audience for which the change will be better received.

Up to and including My Little Pony, Sonic the Hedgehog still has worse fans.

It might be a little arrogant to have our own naming conventions, but soccer and football fit better than football and American football.

I've seen Gridman twice without subtitles. It will be nice to get a chance to see it translated.

I don't know if I'll be all that interested in seeing it a third time (at least not in the near future), but it's nice that it's finally getting a DVD release. I may snag a copy anyway.

I think it's okay to have some sexuality in shows aimed at kids -- stuff like Cinderella and Princess Ariel's teased nudity. (Or that look that Nala gave Simba.)
