VHDL. East representin'.

Nice.

Hardest class I ever finished, by the way. But you're over the hump. Good luck!

Actually I took Computer Architecture in 2012. Of all the groups we had, only my group opted for the multicycle datapath over the single-cycle, and I pretty much did the while thing myself while my partners looked over my shoulder, lol.

But here, six years later and still not working in Computer Architecture like I would like, I decide to put together a portfolio. This time I'm going all out since there's no hard deadline. This one is a Harvard architecture. I don't really k.ow how you would do Von Neumann with a pipelined datapath... which I do plan on researching.

I think I'll look at DSP architecture next.

I do know a little Verilog though. More C-like compared to the Ada feel of VHDL. We had one class period dedicated to it and the prof said "now if an interviewer asks if you know Verilog, the answer is 'sure, I'll just need to brush up on it some since VHDL is my main thing.'"

I'm one of those weirdos who actually uses Ada by choice, though, so that's a win-win for me.

I haven't even seen one try

But can it run Crysis?

No, and no matter how powerful it gets, running Crysis would require obtaining the Crysis source code and recompiling it because it doesn't follow the x86 or x64 specificaion.

I did consider making it an x64 but I took a look at the instruction set and it's much more complicated than I had expected. I coud probably figure it out if I had a comprehensive reference, but all I could find was an assembly reference--which doesn't help--and a document about instruction encoding that left a lot of stuff unexplained.

They were both "load immediate" instructions, but the importnt thing about executing two is that it shows the pipeline is working properly.

Now I just have to get the other fifteen to work and then I can work on the fun stuff like OoO and superpipeline.

Generally, I believe you can discuss emulators and even romhacks (as in "I saw a video of a romhack where blah blah happened") but not stuff like where to get roms.

I generally avoid discussion altogether because first of all I don't really use them and second it's easier to not have to worry about exactly the question posted ITT.

Zero Mission was pretty forgettable, tbh. The Zero Suit part was kinda cool but seriously weak in terms of actual gameplay. Bad as stealth gameplay, even worse as action gameplay.

Prime 2, I mean, how do you justify literally 50% of the game being covered with exactly the same texture? Add in the annoying as crap Torvus Bog to boot.

Fusion is way too high

It definitely had a different feel from other Metroid games, which I think is most people's main complaint (aside from the completely-ignorable-because-it's-stupid "wah it doesn't have glitches" complaint), but being different isn't always bad. It gave up some exploration but gained a lot in the "holy crap" department.

This goes for just about any adaptation. In fairness, some things do work in a book better than in a movie/tv show and vice-versa but it feels like this is used as an excuse to take way more creative liberties than necessary. Which isn't necessarily bad for the end result, but it does feel like a diss on the source material.

I think the best adaptation I've ever seen is the Jim Carey Christmas Carol.

For one, it was a straight-up pyramid scheme. The guy told us that you only get paid comission and that he (the supervisor) gets paid more for employees selling more.

I'm familiar with commission payment structures because I used to work for a company that developed software for that purpose.

This kind of commission structure is beyond common. In fact, it's standard--like, you pretty much can't do it any other way--for external (contracted) brokers in the medicare business.

It's not scammy at all in theory but yeah I could see how it would result in shady tsctics by the higher-ups. It's just a natural consequence of the whole idea of commissions and hierarchy. If the agents do better, they get more money, but the guy supervising them doesn't? Chances are that guy played no small role in their success. This is why he counts as a broker too.

We had five levels of hierarchy--agent, general agent, managing general agent, supervising general agent and field marketing organization.
