I'm really glad that Ahsoka brought up Anakin, even if it was a brief moment. It's also weird seeing her give training advice to Luke, but then I realized she actually does have more experience on him since she's the last remaining member of the Jedi Order other than Grogu (and Cal + Cere if they're still alive).

I also imagine Grogu is going to take elements from both the Mandalorians and the Jedi, bringing the two cultures together. Them bringing up Parre Viszla last episode could be foreshadowing that.

Lol why did Cad Bane go so hard on that guy?

Ever watch say, a horror movie and there's that one annoying character that you hope gets a really brutal death? Same here.

Deputy gives smack to Mando. Then he sticks his nose in with the set duel, and says something to Bane that annoyed Vanth. Of course we needed three to mimic the scene in TGTB&TU so that's also why he was there. I smiled big when the Deputy ate several shots. Smiled just as much when Calican got his.

Cad Bane was hype as fuck. Knew it was him the instant his silhouette was in the distance and was not at all disappointed.

Doesn't seem like the right fit for this show/Mandalorian but wonder if we'll ever get live action Hondo. Maybe in the Lando series?

Live action Hondo is inevitable. Could see it in the Kenobi series, could see it in Ahsoka's. Hell, it's always possible he shows up for this show's final episode.

"It's not about Fett" misses the point.

Disney wants everyone to have their weekly dose of a wider Star Wars universe that has felt so foreign and on-rails until now.

Should've just called this Mandalorian Season 2.5 or something and made it clear with marketing that it'd be essential lore.

Gonna be a crazy ride into an Infinity War-style moment among the various shows.

Everyone's will just pop in and out as needed.

i think the entire point is to make everything feel essential. ultimately, they are trying to sell subs. but that's only a problem if the story isn't good. and, at least for right now, i have been very entertained. they're exploring a rather soft spot right now in the existing lore, where we have only tiny bits of a near 25 year stretch. by the time it's all over, this might involve dozens of shows, hundreds of episodes. which episode belonging to which show really might not end up being all that important.

Holy fuck what an episode. Luke and Ahsoka together (although I'm mad bummed we didn't get to see them meeting). Cad motherfucking Bane. I knew he was probably coming but was so excited to see that silhouette and boy did they do him justice.

But yeah, I'm pretty puzzled at Luke and Ahsoka going with the no attachments thing. Luke saved Vader because of his attachments, despite what Kenobi and Yoda told him. He loves his sister and Han because of attachments. Later (granted, this is very very early in his teaching career) he trains his nephew and Ben still gets to hang out with his parents. I know Grogu's distracted but feels weird.

Oh and of course it was the Filoni-directed ep. Also less down on Luke's attitude here after thinking about it, given that like some people have said he's still thinking the Jedi were right on things here (though Ahsoka should know better). All setting up for TLJ.

I should maybe watch those animated shows to understand why people get excited lol.

So at this point, I'm assuming spice is some kind of drug, right? Because until Cobb tipped the chest over, I genuinely those these were just really aggressive seasoning salesmen.

Oh, and as someone who doesn't know shit about Star Wars, I find it really fucking bizarre that Ahsoka and Luke are both continuing the "no earthly attachments" teachings. I always figured the idea presented in the prequels was that the Jedi were fucked up for doing that and it ultimately led to their downfall because they forbid Anakin from having personal attachments, meaning his mom gets murdered by Tuskens, Padme dies from big sad, and his kids are stillborn. That all ultimately ends up with him joining Palpatine and doing the Order 66 thing. Then the OT even has Luke and Vader win the day because their attachment to each other ultimately ends up defeating the Emperor. But now they're just...doing that again? That's dumb as fuck.
This also semi connects this to the sequel trilogy where Luke s strict adherence to the Jedi creeds led to the downfall of his temple

Just for reference's sake...My brother always hated the Clone Wars CGI stuff (and the CGI star wars stuff in general), but the way The Mandalorian and BoBF have portrayed Ahsoka and Cad Bane has made him a fan of both. Just that one scene of Cad Bane redeemed like a decade of awkward CGI cartoon shenanigans in his eyes.

That's a powerful scene.

From the moment I knew who it was, it was in my brain "don't be lame, please don't be lame" until it all went down.

I was hoping they would introduce more bounty hunters, expected ones like Bossk or Dengar, but the route they have taken so far with Black Krrsantan and Cad Bane has exceeded expectations.

This season has had a couple slog episodes, but it keeps redeeming itself.

My brother also loved Krrsantan. He's one of those people who hates the expanded universe stuff and is kind of an OT purist...so to present these characters in a way that pleases him is a hell of a thing to accomplish. The people whining about this series are so off-base it's ridiculous.

The average Star Wars fan is loving this stuff, I assure you. Myself included.

Yeah, that's how I'm looking at it after these last 2 episodes. This episode opened up so much just for the future direction of Star Wars. No one is really off-limits and they're taking ideas from the MCU.

I like it. And despite the insane levels of fan service, it's Din and Grogu that has me hooked overall right now tbh. Things like Luke and Boba are just bonuses.

That's what I'm happy about

Tbh when Luke showed up at the end of S2 and it was literally the only thing people would talk about when the finale would come up, I was worried that that's what the franchise would devolve into.

The fact that they got people as hyped for Din, Grogu, Cobb, Cad Bane, and Ahsoka as they were for someone like Luke is very encouraging

I think there must be a reason we've seen so many Trandoshans involved in previous episodes. They're reminding the general audience that they exist so that when the iconic one returns, nobody is like "wait who the fuck is this?"

I know it's a meme for ST haters to claim Disney would just retcon out the Sequel Trilogy, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they did and turned it into Legends material.

That or they pull a "The Suicide Squad" and just trek on forward without openly acknowledging the ST outside of a few characters.
