Huge monoliths out in the middle of the ocean? That's not in our capabilities at the moment, and probably wouldn't work as well as you are thinking.

But yeah we will be getting more and more powerful hurricanes going forward due to the oceans warming since more evaporation powers up the storms. The coasts are less and less appealing as time moves on.

They make big ass oil rigs out there. How much harder would it be to put a monolithic coil?

Those big ass oil rigs drill for expensive ass oil to sell for big ass money

Yeah but look at the costs of multiple hurricanes. It might very well make sense financially.

Here's my proposal. Hurricane's need warm water and low pressure. If you look across the country and around the world, we see many man-made wonder-like structures that no one ever thought we'd ever be able to build, like bridges, skyscrapers, ships and aircraft carriers, etc.
Is it possible (though it might take years) to build a system of frigid coils out in the gulfs that would cool down the water and air temperatures when a hurricane approaches in order to mitigate it's formation and impact? The cooling coils would not have to run all year long, just when a hurricane begins to form. Could we build like a series of huge monoliths that can become very cold when a storm approaches?

It's gradual, I should note. It's not a heavy loss of years or even days per se in lump sumps each time you use the power.

Yeah, I know. I age normally within my frame of reference, and they don't age when their time is stopped. So essentially I'm dying early, because I only experience another 20 years according to the world's advancements and such. I might "live" 50 years worth of time personally in that span, but most of it would be me doing stuff alone and nobody else is aware of it. And that sucks.

If it worked so that if I froze time I would stop aging just like everybody else, then it's by far the better power. As it is, it kinda sucks. Plus people are eventually going to start questioning why I look like I'm 80 when I should only be 50.

That sounds about right. It depends on how much you use the power. Like if you used it just once or twice to get rich or change the course of history, and you were originally set to die in your eighties, you might go down anywhere from 3 to 20 years, so sixties. A lot of us dudes will die in our sixties anyways.

Freeze time won't be dying early, you'd still live just as long as you normally would from your perspective, just other people would see you for less time. You also can just use it enough to get tons of money and have no problem getting laid all you want anyway. It just won't be all lovey dovey, which can be an advantage tbh.

Meh, it's the fact that I continue to age that really kills the freeze time power. I'd abuse it so much that by the time everyone I know is 20 years older I'd be on my death bed. I mean, no more romance sucks, but dying early sucks even more.

It's gradual, I should note. It's not a heavy loss of years or even days per se in lump sumps each time you use the power.

Little uncertainty of when you'll freeze time? What's the point then? It's not going to freeze when you want to, which is the point of freezing time, at the exact spot you need to freeze, and it may in fact freeze when you don't want it to

No you can freeze when you want to. You can't always predict when it will precisely let up, though you have at least a few to several hours.

Depends on the value you place on it. Freeze time is an an invaluable power. Stud just means you get laid whenever, however. And even given the opportunity to freeze time and forsake romance, people are still picking the stud option over freeze time. Weird. Different priorities.

Would you rather be able to freeze time or be a Casanova?

If you pick freeze time, from here on out you will never have romance again, a small price for that power. Freezing time let's you stop the world in place for hours at a time, with a little uncertainty on when it will turn off exactly, and some cool-down time you have to spend between freezes. Also, freezing time makes you older than the people you freeze. Still you get every other advantage of that power.

If you pick stud, well, you get all the romance you want. You simply won't get the Freeze time power. The stud power is pretty self explanatory.

Pick a power.
I pick freeze time.

I can't even believe I'm sitting here in my hometown and using the term national disaster in the same breath, but it's true. I find nothing wrong with his donation.
