Does Trump?

Yes.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-boasts-of-his-philanthropy-but-his-giving-falls-short-of-his-words/2016/10/29/b3c03106-9ac7-11e6-a0ed-ab0774c1eaa5_story.html

Then, all of a sudden, there was Donald Trump.

“Nobody knew he was coming,” said Abigail Disney, another donor sitting on the dais. “There’s this kind of ruckus at the door, and I don’t know what was going on, and in comes Donald Trump. [He] just gets up on the podium and sits down.”

Trump was not a major donor. He was not a donor, period. He’d never given a dollar to the nursery or the Association to Benefit Children, according to Gretchen Buchenholz, the charity’s executive director then and now.

...

For as long as he has been rich and famous, Donald Trump has also wanted people to believe he is generous. He spent years constructing an image as a philanthropist by appearing at charity events and by making very public — even nationally televised — promises to give his own money away.

It was, in large part, a facade. A months-long investigation by The Washington Post has not been able to verify many of Trump’s boasts about his philanthropy.

Instead, throughout his life in the spotlight, whether as a businessman, television star or presidential candidate, The Post found that Trump had sought credit for charity he had not given — or had claimed other people’s giving as his own.

Trump promised to give away the proceeds of Trump University. He promised to donate the salary he earned from %u201CThe Apprentice.%u201D He promised to give personal donations to the charities chosen by contestants on %u201CCelebrity Apprentice.%u201D He promised to donate $250,000 to a charity helping Israeli soldiers and veterans.

Together, those pledges would have increased Trump%u2019s lifetime giving by millions of dollars. But The Post has been unable to verify that he followed through on any of them.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/politics/2016-election/trump-charity-donations/
For months, The Washington Post has been looking for evidence to back up a key claim Donald Trump makes about himself: that, in recent years, he has given millions of dollars to charity out of his own pocket. There is no evidence of that in the files of Trump's nonprofit, the Donald J. Trump Foundation. And Trump has not released his tax returns, which would detail his recent charitable giving.

In an effort to find proof of Trump's personal giving, The Post has contacted more than 400 charities with some ties to the GOP nominee. Some got money from the Trump Foundation (). In other cases, Trump had a personal connection () to the charity or its leaders . Some were charities that DonorSearch database records () indicated he might have given to. A variety of other reasons () included media mentions, gala attendance, or involvement with Trump's TV show "Celebrity Apprentice."

So far, The Post's search has turned up little. Between 2008 and this May — when Trump made good on a pledge to give $1 million to a veterans' group — its search has identified just one personal gift from Trump's own pocket.

@UnholyMudcrab said Trump has a history of not following through with donation promises. @Antifar tried to back that up with a WaPo story about how they "didn't confirm" any donation, which is clearly not a case of Trump not following through with a donation because we have no idea how intensely WaPo tried to track down these donations. Maybe you should try to follow a conversation's progression before making yourself look like a fool, @mario2000

And in all likelihood they didn't, since they have a clear agenda against Trump. Look at the tagline under their title: they claim Democracy "died in darkness" after an election that used the same rules that every election had for the past 200 years.

WaPo earned the title "fake news".

Trump has a history of promising donations to causes, not actually committing to his word, and only doing so after being confronted by reporters. WaPo is merely the more credible side on this issue, not Trump. Go ahead and hold your breath until some entity confirms receiving a check from Trump.

Not really political, nor do I really affiliate with any political party, but good for him. Donating money, especially that much, is awesome thing for a person to do.

I remember when Scott Cawthon (Five Night at Freddy's developer) donated like $300,000 to a children's cancer hospital or maybe cancer research and people still found ways to complain about it.

Keep reading:

Instead, The Post found that his personal giving has almost disappeared entirely in recent years. After calling 420-plus charities with some connection to Trump, The Post found only one personal gift from Trump between 2008 and the spring of this year. That was a gift to the Police Athletic League of New York City, in 2009. It was worth less than $10,000.
...
In advance of this article, The Post sent more than 70 questions to the Trump campaign.

Those questions covered the individual anecdotes and statistics contained in this article, including the tale about Trump crashing the ribbon-cutting in 1996, as well as broader questions about Trump’s life as a philanthropist.

Exactly when, before this spring, did Trump last give his own money to charity?

What did Trump consider his greatest act of charity in recent years?

Trump’s campaign did not respond until Saturday afternoon, after this article was published online; it sent a written statement saying that Trump “has personally donated tens of millions of dollars . . . to charitable causes.”

Trump officials did not respond when asked to provide evidence of the tens of millions of dollars in gifts.

You're not wrong. It is good, however you cannot assume that some arbitrary amount of good things he's contributed is greater than value to the bad things that he has contributed.

It's like when Hitler built the Autobahn. The Autobahn was good, sure, but Hitler is still a piece of shit through and through.

Similar deal with Trump. His million dollars donation is meaningless in the face of his rampant climate denial that contributed to this kind of shit in the first place. Son of a bitch mother fucker spent more money ruining the environment than he spent helping people whose lives were ruined by the environment he fucked up in the first place.

Yes, in 8 months he tipped the scale so hard that it forced a category 4 hurricane to form.

It's a nice gesture if it actually materializes given his track record on donations (like the VA donation that he had to be pressured into actually making after he said he did, but if that's any indication it's gonna be four months late), but it hardly makes up for him wanting to cut FEMA funding down the line.

Like, it truly is just amazing that someone could bash something like this.

It is basically like, to those bashing him, he should have just not donated anything at all because he is being put down for helping. Whether he gave a dollar; a million, or a billion, he did not have to give anything and still did.

I am sure the actual victims of the disaster are thankful for any donation, no matter how small or large, despite those sitting in their comfy homes sitting their criticizing some who chose to give to help them.
