Did you/are you enjoying your college experience?

One of the best timeframes in my life, don't recall having much stress. Loved all the free time. Just regret not socializing more.

It was pretty fun, but I do regret being a little overly shy. I should have been getting my freak on at least twice as much as I did

I learned a lot, so it was good from an education perspective, but in terms of socializing and partying and stuff I didn't end up doing nearly as much as I wanted to, but oh well.

One hours fifteen minutes isn't that long, although I did nod off a bit in lecture hall classes.

I also liked how you can change classes the first week. One PoliSci class was going to have daily or weekly essays that we would have had to write, so I changed classes.

There were parts I enjoyed and parts I didn't enjoy.

Things I enjoyed:

-Freshman, Junior, and Senior year living situations. Freshman year, my randomly assigned roommate had a serious girlfriend and she had her own apartment. He spent a majority of nights and weekends there. Second semester, he spent literally (not misusing the word here) FIVE nights at the dorm. He would come back for a few hours to do homework during the day and then head out. Junior/Senior year was a similar situation, but my roommate was a hot lady friend I met sophomore year. She was dating a guy who lived like an hour away, so she left legit every single weekend. And she had no Friday classes, so she would leave Thursday night and come back Monday morning. So basically, for those 3 years, I lived virtually alone.

-My class schedule. In general, it got better the later in the 4 years I got (the later you are, the sooner you can pick your schedule). I had no Friday classes senior year (and it would've been more, but I took 3 years of a language and those classes meet 5 days a week).

-My personal schedule. I was (am) a big procrastinator, so I had loads of free time. Maybe once a month I'd have a big day at the library and just knock out everything I'd been procrastinating.

Things I didn't enjoy:

-Sophomore year living situation. It was a 4-person suite with two people per room. I really had no problem with each individual person, but rather the group as a whole and the company that was invited. They were all big partiers, whereas I'm not really into all that. So there were always random people in the room. I got pretty sick of it by the end of the year, especially considering I basically had my own dorm the year prior.

-Post-class schedule. Even though I could put off big projects, I still had daily homework and tests to study for. Especially with a language class where there was shit due every day. The thing is, even though there were fewer hours per day spent at class, the time I had free was typically marred with either doing homework or thinking about all the homework and tests that I should be doing. Now that I'm 9-5, even though more time is spent at work, the time I spend at home is worry-free.

---------------------------------------------------

So in general, I enjoyed my time. I maximized my free time and minimized times of stress and hard work. I voted yes.

The post-class work doesn't sound too great. I am glad I didn't have much in the way of homework and studying.

Somewhat.

It's honestly the most overrated thing ever these days. I think I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as most being a closeted gay guy at the time but it was a fun time for running around with friends.

I fucking hate it.

Each individual class is super long.
I hate my major (Bio) and I'm locked into it due to my GPA. Not interested in anything, whatsoever, and it's not like I'm waiting for a magic fairy to give me an answer, but having no money doesn't help.
I commute, so the travelling is pretty boring and I hate driving. Dorming would most likely be worse and cost a fortune.
I suck at every class. I barely manage a C- and I bust my ass off. Currently have a 1.97 cumulative GPA.
I don't like socializing or partying, so I avoid people at all costs. Luckily, I don't have time between classes this semester, so it's just group activities, if any. Only started classes today, senior year (still have 3 semesters to go).
It's a waste of money. I'm not going anywhere with my life and college certainly isn't what I should be doing, but it's either that or I live on the streets. Because I keep going on and off a 2.0, I have no money for myself. I eat almost every other day, I can't buy new clothes, my prescription glasses are not good enough anymore, etc.
People claim that everyone is social and shit, but no one has ever even batted an eye towards me unless it's me asking the professor a question in class or visiting financial aid. I don't have a problem with this since I prefer to be away from people I don't care for, but it's funny how everyone talks up how people are super social and looking to bang each other.

I could go on and on...

The values of college are highly overrated these days by old generations who grew up in an era when it means a whole lot more.

Most people I know who got good majors for their bachelors or went through with law school or whatever are now doing nothing related to what they went to school for. Like for example, I know a guy who did law school, passed the Bar, that is now doing real-estate. I know a guy who got a bachelors for business accounting that is now doing a small business with his buddy. There's a lot of people like this.

I mean sure there's a lot of people who make good use of it, but there's also a lot of people who are finding themselves not using their college education nearly as much as they thought they would.

Personally, I think I would have been better off if I didn't waste so much time, stress, and effort trying to make it work. There is no way I am going to pressure any kids I have into going to college, that's for sure. I learned the faults of that mentality.

It is mostly back and forth between work, my girlfriend and school with no time to socialize. I think at one point I estimated 60+ hours a week spent at work and school, and that did not include the time required for homework.

I definitely enjoy the education and love my major/research lab, and I have no loans. But I have nearly zero friends from it.

Absolutely. With the exception of a handful of classes I enjoyed all of the school work, my work study, my friends, my roommates, where I lived especially 2.5 years after I moved into the college co-op. The only thing I didn't really dig was the cold.

Undergraduate:

Freshman year was the best, but also the worst. Got a huge scholarship that paid for everything and gave me thousands in cash back, wasted it all and lost my scholarship. But I lost my scholarship because I was partying so much and I did make a lot of new friends. Unfortunately, those friends all mostly dropped out because they also partied a ton. Once I lost my scholarship, I had to start commuting to school so the rest of my time was less enjoyable, but much more productive.

In hindsight, I wish I'd participated a lot more in non-class activities. Especially once I started commuting. Life wasn't bad, but it didn't feel much like college. I mostly spent time with my gf and high school friends doing drugs

Graduate:

Took it much more seriously. It was also more enjoyable. But it was short and I spent more of my time working, so it's hard to say. I didn't feel much like a college student here either.

3 years of college.

2nd year sucked pretty damn hard (The head RA was my ex girlfriend, and my program's project's were terrible)

1st and especially third year though...Christ. Pure insanity. Out of 8 months in third year, I drank literally every day for 7 of them.

I loved the first few years but wanted it to just be over at the end. I loved living in Washington State it's so pretty up there.

I went to tons of parties, got laid all the time, "experimented" a lot if you know what I mean (think Hunter S Thomspon)

My college had a lot of social justice warriors which got old (I went to The Evergreen State College, the one that was on the news a few months ago) but I also had a lot of fun on the west coast. I also took a year off in the middle where I did community college in Palm Desert, CA

Now I'm taking online grad school classes (Southern New Hampshire University) which is pretty interesting not sure if I'm going to finish, though.

Spend my undergrad working full time and working in a few labs, so I had no real free time. I loved it, really discovered my passion for science. Some regrets about missing out on some social shit, but not too many.

Grad school has been pretty awesome as my lab and advisor have been pretty perfect.
