So Mexico is stating they won't accept the people Texas is taking into custody, since they deal with the federal government, not the state.

Also, many of those being taken into custody are not from Mexico.
They're going to be surprised when they dump them there anyways.

UPDATE
https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/20/us/mississippi-officers-sentencing-goon-squad-wednesday/index.html

I deeply regret all the pain: Third of 6 Mississippi ex-officers sentenced to prison for the torture of 2 Black men

Daniel Opdyke, the third of six former Mississippi law enforcement officers who pleaded guilty in the torture of two Black men last year, was sentenced by a federal judge Wednesday to more than 17 years in prison.

The former Rankin County Sheriffs Office deputy pleaded guilty in August to federal charges of conspiracy against rights, deprivation of rights under color of law, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and obstruction of justice related to the violent attacks in January 2023.

The judge also ordered Opdyke to undergo mental health treatment, including for anger management, as well as alcohol and drug treatment. The ex-deputy was also ordered to pay $79,500 in restitution to the victims.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/19/politics/supreme-court-allows-texas-to-begin-enforcing-controversial-immigration-law/index.html

Now cops can arrest and jail or deport migrants.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday cleared the way for Texas to immediately begin enforcing a controversial immigration law that allows state officials to arrest and detain people they suspect of entering the country illegally.

The courts three liberals dissented.

Legal challenges to the law are ongoing at a federal appeals court, but the decision hands a significant yet temporary win to Texas, which has been in an ongoing battle with the Biden administration over immigration policy.

The court had been blocking the law from taking effect, issuing an indefinite stay on Monday, which was wiped away by Tuesdays order.

Senate Bill 4, signed into law by Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in December, immediately raised concerns among immigration advocates of increased racial profiling as well as detentions and attempted deportations by state authorities in Texas, where Latinos represent 40% of the population.

As is often the case in emergency applications, the court did not explain its reasoning.

However, a concurring opinion written by Justice Amy Coney Barrett, joined by Justice Brett Kavanaugh, explained that the appeals court had only handed down a temporary administrative order.

So far as I know, this court has never reviewed the deci sion of a court of appeals to enter or not enter an administrative stay, Barrett wrote. I would not get into the business. When en tered, an administrative stay is supposed to be a short-lived prelude to the main event: a ruling on the motion for a stay pending appeal.

Barrett said she thought it was unwise to invite emergency liti gation in this court about whether a court of appeals abused its discretion at this preliminary step.

Liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor said the order invites further chaos and crisis in immigration enforcement.

The law, Sotomayor wrote in her dissent, upends the federal-state balance of power that has existed for over a century, in which the National Government has had exclusive authority over entry and removal of noncitizens.

Texas can now immediately enforce its own law imposing criminal liability on thousands of noncitizens and requiring their removal to Mexico, Sotomayor wrote. This law will disrupt sensitive foreign relations, frustrate the protection of indi viduals fleeing persecution, hamper active federal enforce ment efforts, undermine federal agencies ability to detect and monitor imminent security threats, and deter nonciti zens from reporting abuse or trafficking.

First of 6 Mississippi ex-officers sentenced to 20 years for torturing 2 Black men: Im so sorry I hate myself for it

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/e/eb3c47fb.jpg

https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/19/us/mississippi-black-men-police-torture-sentencing-tuesday/index.html

Hunter Elward, a former Mississippi sheriffs deputy who faced the most serious of federal charges against him and five other officers in the torture of two Black men last year, was sentenced to 20 years in priso nin a highly emotional hearing Tuesday.

He pleaded guilty in August to federal charges of discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence, conspiracy against rights, deprivation of rights under color of law, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and obstruction of justice related to the January 2023 incident.

n a lawsuit, the victims Michael Jenkins and Eddie Parker alleged the officers illegally entered their home and handcuffed, kicked, waterboarded and tased them and attempted to sexually assault them over nearly two hours before one of the deputies put a gun in Jenkins mouth and shot him.

Some of the officers called themselves The Goon Squad because of their willingness to use excessive force and not report it, federal prosecutors said.
Elward addressed the victims directly in court during his sentencing hearing.

Im so sorry, the disgraced former officer said. I dont want to get too personal with you, Michael. Theres no telling what youve seen. Im so sorry that I caused that. I hate myself for it. I hate that I gave you that. I accept all responsibility.

Jenkins nodded. Parker stood up and replied: We forgive you, man.

I fear I will be attacked again and even killed

Elward was sentenced in Jackson before Southern District of Mississippi US District Court Judge Tom Lee.

Elward also pleaded guilty in August to state charges of conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice, home invasion and aggravated assault. He awaits sentencing on the state charges.

During a victims impact statement read by his attorney, Parker said he believes the crime will haunt him forever.

The very bad actions of the Rankin County Goon Squad severely impacted me and left a scar on me forever, Parkers statement said, as read by attorney Malik Shabazz. I dont know if I will ever be able to sleep at night. I fear I will be attacked again and even killed.

Shabazz also read a statement from Jenkins, who said, I dont think Ill ever be the person I was.

ALDINE, Texas A one-year-old girl is now dead after reportedly being hit by an Uber driver who ran her over while dropping her and her family members off.
The accident happened around 12:40 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of an apartment complex along Waverly Drive in Aldine.

The Harris County Sheriffs Office says the Uber driver dropped off the passengers, including three adults and a one-year-old girl.

As the adults walked towards the apartment complex and out of the vehicles pathway, the toddler was walking in front of the gray Volkswagen SUV.

When the Uber driver saw the female adult clear at a couple of feet, he began driving forward to turn around, accidentally rolling over the child, said Lt. K Benoit of the Harris County Sheriffs Office.

The family tried rescuing the girl and driving her to the hospital. They flagged down an emergency vehicle nearby, which then took the girl to the hospital where she later died.

In the moments after the child was run over, family members opened the SUVs doors and assaulted the driver.

Hes in serious condition. You know, non-life threatening, but serious, Benoit said.

Hearing the commotion outside, neighbors started walking out on their porches to see what was happening. This includes Simya Washington, whose security camera captured the entire incident unfold.

I just heard a lot of commotion outside, and I just came outside, and I just seen, like, blood and a baby laying on the ground, Washington said. It was just so traumatic, because I was just thinking about my baby, you know, my son or anybody else kids it was just so, I couldnt do, I couldnt even.

The driver is being treated for his injuries.

Meanwhile, the Harris County Sheriffs Office has not filed any charges against either the driver or those who assaulted him.

At this time, no charges have been filed, Benoit said. But however, it is still under investigation. There could be charges a couple of different ways.

The driver has been identified as Muhammad Khan. The identity of the girl has not yet been released.
