I didn't have much hype, but I am definitely seeing it Thursday.

I never really liked the original two movies, haven't bothered to see the two since and won't see the upcoming.

Mildly, but I didn't see the first Ruddbuster film yet so kind of doubt that I'll see this first or see the other and then this while this is still in theaters.

Yes. I accept that they'll never recapture the magic of the original, so I'm on board with them veering more in the direction of Stranger Things wearing the Ghostbusters' skin because, well, I like Stranger Things. And I have hope that they got the bulk of the shameless nostalgic wanking out of their systems with Afterlife.

Yes. I had no interest in the female led reboot, not because it was women but because it seemed unnecessary and didnt seem funny at all from the trailer, so I didnt watch it.

Afterlife didnt exactly fill me with joy. I particularly didnt like how they brought the deceased member of the original cast back as a ghost. But it was a decent enough film.

The trailer for this one actually got me a bit hyped.

That and I thought it was too much targeted to kids.

Yes, I have been doing my best to avoid spoilers.

As long as it isn't "member berry" the movie like Afterlife was, I probably will enjoy it. Having easter eggs here or there is great, but when it interferes with the movie it becomes a "nostalgia wank" and it got annoying really fast...but I think the director said it was mostly aimed at the hardcore audience so I guess they were happy with it.

I didnt mind that aspect too much. Trying to recruit new fans to the franchise seems fine to me, especially given that a lot of the fans were kids in the first place.

Interested in seeing if they can do more than just wrap themselves in nostalgia. The last movie had interesting bones, but never really managed to be more than "remember ghostbuster kids?".

Ghostbusters is a fun movie.

Ghostbusters 2 has some good parts but the pacing combined with some baffling story decisions make it a lot less fun.

The all-female remake has its problems, mainly being that they tried to make a high concept movie almost all improvised dialogue and no "straight man" type character to ground the comedy. But the cast was great and they at least understood that this should be a dumb comedy you just have fun with.

Afterlife felt like pure, cynical nostalgia bait. The way they treat the original with reverence makes me roll my eyes, and bringing back Ramis as a ghost--especially for such a mediocre moment--was gross.

I have zero enthusiasm for the new one and no particular desire to see any more that come out, ever.

Imma be honest, Ive never even seen the first movie.

Looks like it's worth a rental.

Not really. Last one I saw was Ghostbusters 2. Didn't watch the female led half-reboot they did years back, didn't watch the one after that. Probably won't watch this one either.

On top of that the ghost looked nothing like the actor when he was older. They'd have been better off CGIing in the young version.

What I disliked about Afterlife is how the kids were doing such next level shit. You'd think after they shot up the town with the proton pack the national guard would have been called or something, but it's almost like no one noticed.

It was fine. Not as good as the original, obviously, or the second one (which I dont love, but it does have its moments), or even the 2016 movie (which at least is an actual comedy). But Id say it was better than Afterlife. Not that Afterlife was bad, but this one was definitely less same-y.

Extreme Ghostbusters, a literal Saturday morning cartoon, was less pandering to young children than these newer movies.

Last two movies were dreck and I expect this one to be terrible, so no.

I watched Afterlife again. It was ok.

Saw it Friday, solid movie.

Yes very much so since Afterlife was great, just waiting for a day I have time to see it, it's likely going to be next week.

6/10 was alright, for every improvement on Afterlife they did one thing worse. Probably the biggest being that they really needed to clean up on there being way too many fucking characters, why are Podcast, Lucky, Janine, and Venkman there for instance. Then you got Finn Wolfhard who kinda has to be there since he's a family member but he has nothing to do, Ernie Hudson was nice to see but you can just have him appear briefly calling on the phone or something and then have the general scientist dude do everything Ernie Hudson did, and same with Patton where you could combine him with Ray relatively smoothly. But speaking of Dan, boy howdy was that man having fun with this movie letting out his paranormal obsessions, Kumail Nanjiani was also pretty great.

Cant stand Finn Wolfhard outside of the recent IT movies, so probably not.

I agree completely. I loved how big Aykroyd's role was and he seemed to love it. Wish it was a better movie. Bill Murray is basically a cameo and I don't think he cared.

And yeah, all those annoying supporting characters.

Main issue though is that it felt like a rushed, lower budget MCU movie.

I'm fully convinced that man was paid to be in the movie with the bottle of whiskey that he took a colossal swig out of at the end of the movie, dude barely appeared and he gave no fucks at all, and not in the funny way either.

Ghostbusters 1 was good

Ghostbusters 2 had the He-man joke, which was kinda funny, then it got boring and stupid until I gave up on watching it. All I really remember is court drama stuff I didn't care about and running out of patience waiting for them to actually buat some ghosts.

Never bothered with anything past that. I think there was a 3, which I know nothing about, then there was the feminist one...

I'm thinking the one good movie was lightning in a bottle, so I'mma skip this one.

I saw the other 3 previous films (1, 2, and Afterlife) for the first time back when Afterlife came out in theaters, and I honestly think Afterlife is MUCH better than the older originals. And nostalgia isnt a factor since I never saw the originals until then.

Ill probably check out this one since I liked Afterlife so much.

It's got James Acaster. I love seeing random Taskmaster contestants book big movies (like Hugh Dennis in "No Time to Die")

Good movie.

It was very fun.

I give it 8/10.
