Now, I do enjoy dull movies. I have watched several films that belong to the 'Slow Cinema' movement. Not that I think The Last Jedi belongs anywhere near there, but you know...

Anyway, my reasons for loving The Last Jedi fall largely into the technical and stylistic aspects of the film. I guess I find the plot critiques so odd because I've never viewed Star Wars as a series where I cared about the actual details of how things worked? Like, to me, watching a Star Wars movie for the plot makes about as much sense as listening to Daft Punk for the lyrics.

I was just thinking about how some series are talked about like half the fanbase hates the newest entry until the next one comes out, and then they immediately reevaluate the previous one as they criticize the new one. Zelda seemed a prime example; Majora's Mask got hate for its change to the formula, Wind Waker for its art style and easiness, Twilight Princess for its similarities to OoT...but all three of these seem to be better regarded these days.

I feel like Breath of the Wild is the first time I've seen a Zelda game released without notable backlash. Of course a few people here and there don't like it, but the general consensus seems all around positive.

But what I also find funny is that the other part of the cycle also didn't seem to happen. I don't see anyone parading around Skyward Sword these days. Have I missed it, or is it simply an actual black sheep in the series?

In the end, I can't think of a better character to break the Noble Nine than Pikachu. The yellow rat is easily one of the most famous gaming icons, and he wouldn't have been out of place at all if he was this strong from the beginning. I feel this is less a fall for the noble nine as much as it is Pikachu finally gaining his due strength.

Of course, Elusive Eleventh Doomguy has yet to appear in a contest, but I'm sure he'll shatter his way through the upper echelons once he makes a contest.

With the 11 seeds I ended up voting the same character the entire time through, despite really liking half the characters there. This time around, the only character I truly care about is Revolver Ocelot...but with the success of The Boss, I'm assuming I'll at least be voting him for a long time.

Not that I have a problem with anyone here (beside L-Block)...the 10-seeds this year just seem to cover a lot of my blind spots. Never got into Mortal Kombat, Xenosaga, Golden Sun, or Captain Toad. So that leaves DK and Ocelot...

I'm getting divorced now over my struggles to accept an open relationship. I thought I'd eventually learn to accept it, but all it does is make me uncomfortable. Like, I'm not jealous as much as I have rather severe anxiety over diseases. For a while I convinced myself I was asexual to justify why I wasn't having sex with my partner anymore, but it was really just discomfort with our entire situation.

What I don't get is how Bayonetta isn't more powerful. On a site where TJF has had serious influence, I'd figure Bayonetta would be quite strong based on that alone. But she actually seems to extend beyond that; she's so well-designed to the point that I feel like a lot of people tend to have a positive opinion of what she's doing. Where most other 'sexy for the sake of being sexy' characters are simply there to be pleasant to look at, Bayonetta pushes it to a point of power.

At the same time, the biggest fans of her I know are gay men and lesbians...is Bayonetta's 'sex as power' more intimidating than attractive to straight men?

Didn't touch the Final Fantasy series or anything until seeing how popular the characters were here. I really only knew Pokemon and the big mascot platforming characters since I was only a child when I found this site. I believe the Link vs. Cloud match of 2004 was happening when I first stumbled across GameFAQs, and I wanted to know who the hell this 'cloud' was to be so popular.

One thing that makes him distinct is his appearance as the final trainer in Gold and Silver; he remains mute, in a way that suggests that is truly a character trait and not simply his dialogue not appearing. His appearance alone in a dangerous mountain adds to his mystique; he truly is a trainer who is seeking to be the best, at the expense of everything else. Essentially, he's the Mewtwo of Gold and Silver in addition to being the protagonist of the first game.
