Speaking of card lore (and that Shared Ride card mentioned earlier) the "lore" of Sangan ending up on the forbidden list being told across 5 different card arts is probably my favorite piece of lore (and one of the saddest) in the entire Yu-Gi-Oh TCG.

To be fair, if there's an event specifically themed around Synchro summons (which there might be based on stuff that's been datamined from the game files) then you'll be set for that.

I used these two in an early Junk/Synchro deck I made until I finished my actual meta deck. Righty is a useful tuner (and can substitute for any Synchron tuner like Quickdraw can) that special summons Lefty to use as non-tuner Synchro material, then Lefty can count as either level 2 or 3 and can also fetch another Righty from the deck by banishing itself from the grave. Lefty is also a target to be revived with Junk Synchron too.

Also, Righty summoning Lefty from the deck means one normal summon immediately makes a level 3-4 Synchro possible, so consider finding room for a level 3-4 Synchro monster like Mist Bird Clausolas or Old Entity Hastorr.

Yeah, they were added in Platinum but were event-exclusive all through gen 4, which is total bullshit. Gen 5 is when they made Rotom's other forms available for everyone, and that's also when the forms got their own typings instead of all being Electric/Ghost.

True, the Tri-Brigade player did basically let me Kaiju two of his monsters instead of one by activating an effect that send it back to my hand.

Speaking of ranks, the new ranked season apparently just started within the last hour, and after the re-ranking that comes with the start of a new season (plus the aforementioned win on my side account that happened after the changeover without realizing it) now both of my accounts are even at Silver 5. I wonder which one I'll make it to Gold with first?

I love how on my main account I get thrashed by a definitely non-meta deck in Gold, but then I switch to my side account and run into a top-tier Tri-Brigade deck in Bronze but somehow still win. I swear this game just feels ass-backwards sometimes.

I just got my ass absolutely handed to me in Gold 4 by a Dark Magician deck of all things. Fucking hell.

Skill Drain doesn't stop effects that activate/resolve off the field though, so there's still a lot of monster effects that can still be used.

I really hope they start making updates and adding more stuff to the game. Ive already hit plat 1 on two accounts and now have no motivation to play anymore. They really need to make the ranking system much longer by requiring way more wins to rank up at least.

There's already been datamines suggesting that the ranks will go higher in the future. They're just capping it at Plat 1 for now until the game is eventually available in all regions and on all devices that they plan to release it on. It's officially out in some countries, but I'm pretty sure the US hasn't gotten it yet. If you're on Android, you can download/install the game with an APK if you don't want to wait. I recommend using QooApp to handle it rather than going out and finding the APK file yourself.

If you're on IOS... I dunno.

I now officially have four completed decks that I'm happy with: Monarchs and True Dracos on my main account, Ancient Gears and (Ra please forgive me) Eldlich on my side account. Even though it's probably the worst one overall, I think fisting people into oblivion with Ancient Gears is the most fun of the four.

On that note... for the first time ever, I took the Maxx C challenge and still won the duel. Some decks just can't stop Chaos Ancient Gear Giant from fisting them into oblivion no matter how many cards they draw.

As long as the Rams don't win it. I'm happy with either the Bengals or the Niners at this point.

If the NFL were rigging anything, they sure as fuck wouldn't be rigging it for the small-market ratings black hole known as the Cincinnati Bengals. They'd be rigging it for the teams that would get the most eyes on the game and get the best ratings like the Cowboys, Niners, or Bills. That or rigging it for the Rams to have them win the Super Bowl in their home stadium and justify stealing the team from the city of St. Louis.

Regarding Lucky vs. Tantrum, I'm 100% convinced that Tantrum would have found a way to wiggle off of where it was stuck by firing its weapon and having the minibot nudge it a bit. I think Lucky knew that too, so they kept on the attack and tried to get an out of the arena flip to put away the fight early. It looked like a nice show of sportsmanship, but I think it was just Lucky knowing the fight wasn't over yet and staying aggressive.

Ghost Raptor, on the other hand... that was some combination of sportsmanship and them realizing that their fight would have ended up not good enough for TV and been cut if it ended like that. If they really wanted to win that fight, there was no reason for them to help Glitch get unstuck.

That main event was a "show this to people to get them interested in BattleBots" kind of fight, and it needs to be spread around on social media as much as possible. It was entertaining, flashy, violent, and just a lot of fun. I think Sawblaze is one of the faces of the sport now, and I would love to see them finally bring home the giant nut.

A disappointing return for Overhaul, a disappointing debut for Blade, a surprising double knockout victory for Tombstone, and a shaky comeback win for Tantrum. Kind of a "meh" episode so far, but we still have two fights to go and I have a good feeling about Glitch.

Jackpot took out one of the lights in an impressive victory over Malice, which was awesome to see. Time for the battle of frogs vs. weebs, Ribbot vs. Overhaul is next.

I've used QooApp before (back when I used to download JP-exclusive waifu gacha games) and I've never had any problems or heard any bad things about it. I can vouch for it being safe.

I did the pack unlock trick I posted about last night of crafting those 10 cards mentioned in that Reddit post plus Armory Arm (another card that unlocks 2 packs and doesn't overlap with those) and opening the one free pack from each of the 23 secret packs that I unlocked. I spent 330 SR materials crafting those cards, and after dismantling the cards that I knew I would never use, I got back 225 SR materials, 30 UR materials, a Black Rose Dragon, and an Armageddon Knight. I also kept Into The Void and Armory Arm out of the cards I crafted to do the trick. So essentially, by doing this trick, I converted 105 SR materials into 2 UR cards and 3 SR cards, which is an absolute bargain.

On a side note, I started a second account on my phone. The game works on my old S7 after downloading the game from QooApp, it just doesn't run very well. I pulled Chaos Ancient Gear Golem right off the bat, so I guess I'm building Ancient Gears on this account. Sounds like fun.

The game doesn't show up in the Google Play store on my phone, and the website says "This app is not available for any of your devices", so that would imply that old phones like my Galaxy S7 can't play it. However, I tried installing it via QooApp, and the game actually did install and (seemingly) launch just fine. I can't do anything to actually see if the game will work on my phone until after the server maintenance is done though.

Pretty much. I used to play Magic The Gathering as well, and its mana system always kept the game in check no matter how crazy some cards could get. Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't have that. The game doesn't have less limitations now than it did before, because it never had limitations to begin with. Cards simply got stronger over time and there was no built-in system like MTG's mana to keep the speed of the game in check.

Master Duel is just single games for now. If Konami starts hosting official tournaments in the game like they reportedly want to, they'll likely add match play and side-decking in a later update.

FTK's like this in modern-day Yu-Gi-Oh tend the be really inconsistent. For every time that it actually works, you'll probably get 2-3 times where you brick or fall short and then your opponent just runs you over when their turn comes. And that's not even including if they have a hand trap like Ash Blossom or Nibiru in their starting hand that can disrupt it.

sure it does. It prevents you from using Ehther, Eidos grave eff, and prime monarch which can limit you from pushing for game. I played Monarchs competitively in 2016 and got top 32 with it at Seattle regionals. One of my loses was actually because of Vanitys preventing me from special summoning and pushing for game. Vanitys is not as good as you think it is.

Good point. I guess I should have said that it doesn't affect me nearly as much as it affects the opponent.

My dream FE game is a modern 2-part remaster of the Elibe games where you play through Eliwood's/Hector's story and what you do in that game (side chapters visited, characters alive, A-rank supports unlocked, etc.) can actually affect the playthrough of Roy's story afterwards in different ways. It would be like what Genealogy of the Holy War did with its two generations of characters, but both halves of the story would be their own game entirely and you could do a playthrough of the second half without playing the first if you really wanted to. Plus it could also have modern-day features, like skills, reclassing, thieves using daggers (along with the extended weapon triangle seen in Fates), certain legendary weapons being unbreakable, etc.

Give me this and I would never say a bad thing about Nintendo ever again.

Secret Packs are the way to go to build a deck based around a certain archetype. Pull the pack that has your desired archetype, dismantle any cards that you pull but don't plan to use in that deck or any other decks you want to build in the future, and use the materials you get from dismantling the cards you won't use to directly craft the rest of the cards you need to fill the deck.

You can (re-)discover a secret pack at any time by crafting an SR or UR (preferably an SR) card found in that pack.

You don't get duel pass progress if you hit the surrender button, but you still get a little bit if you lose "normally" by having your LP go down to 0, even if it was self-inflicted. So that's likely why that guy did that instead of surrendering.

Yeah but thats a 2 card setup, which balances it out. You can also stall until you draw outs because Vanitys prevents both players from special summoning so the risk of being otkd is less. Vanitys is not comparable to the degeneracy of True King or Rhongo at all, which is why it isnt banned in the TCG and the other two are.

I was never saying it was as good as those two degenerate cards, just that it's still annoying for most decks to deal with because their options without being able to special summon are usually pretty limited. Plus, locking myself out of special summons barely matters because I'm playing Monarchs.

I like to:
1) Go first
2) Set up pendulum scales
3) extra deck summon ez floodgates like Abyss Walker
Then with the floodgate my opponent has a weaker turn 2 and on turn 3 I consolidate and go harder

My "floodgates" in my new Monarch deck are more like brick walls to most decks. If I go first and get at least one of Vanity's Fiend, Majesty's Fiend, or Domain of the True Monarchs active (preferably with March of the Monarchs to protect them) then my opponent almost always surrenders early.

It's nearly impossible for most decks to get 2400 ATK+ on the field without some kind of special summon (which Vanity's Fiend stops them from doing) and if I have March of the Monarchs out too then they can't destroy/target it with card effects either.
