2020 was a very transformational year for the world in many good and bad ways. In some ways we over corrected a bit on the political correctness. Now you have companies like Hasbro changing the name of their products to be more sensible towards everybody (and thats fine), but changing "Fat pack" to "bundle pack" is silly, though I get the silly irony in complaining about it. Point is that there's a lot of virtue signaling going around just for the sake of optics and marketing rather than their own beliefs.

I can probably understand why Square would call Tomb Raider a disappointment in sales, because most likely even selling in the millions doesn't recoup the cost of production. Games are just getting more and more expensive to make.

1 million copies at 60 is 60 millions and without the 30% online store cut, its down to 48 mill. Most big games probably cost much more than that. You have a game like FF7 remake costing 150 mill and Spiderman 3 over 300 mill.

The reboot series has been surprisingly consistent in quality and all have great critic scores. A very rare thing in this day and age. Trailers for the new look good as well so here's hoping they dont break the streak.

Just saw that it only sold 1.3 mill copies as of feb 24...which is kinda low for such an acclaimed title. I guess everyone was still playing BG3 back then. Ill definitely play it once its on sale.

Same. My dad used to make decent money when we were growing up, but things where always tight anyway. Then my parents divorced, sold the house on 2000 for some decent profit. My dad gave away all his part of the money so my mom could buy a house for us. Think she did like 65k down payment so the mortgage was only around 700 for a nice area. Then she married a year later....REFINANCED the house so she could pay for a wedding and BUY another house with my then stepfather. They divorced, sold the new house for like 20k profit, but now had to pay 1,100 from what used to be a 700 mortgage.

Eventually my dad didnt have to give her so much money so she couldnt afford to live there anymore. If she had NEVER refinanced, she could still be living there instead of federal housing and we could stand to inherit that house which is probably worth around 250k
