The only time I remember temporarily lowering the difficulty was Ghost Recon Wildlands, for the side mission where you team up with Sam Fisher. Still couldn't beat it. That mission is utter bullshit even on easy.

I like Ghost Babel for being an early example of the 'subtitle whose acronym is the system it's on' thing that developers loved doing on the DS.

Sales projections aside, I imagine a big stumbling block is Perfect Works- do new writers try and follow it, or do their own thing? If they try and copy Takahashi's ideas they risk coming across as ripping off his own later games (which reused some of those concepts), but if they deviate then fans will complain that it's not really Xenogears.

If it's the Torna game cart, I'm not totally sure how that works.

The Torna cart comes with a code for a limited version of the season pass that only includes the XB2 content, so you don't get the downloadable version of Torna, but do get all the other DLC.

And if you buy the Season Pass, it includes Core Crystals. That's the only extra monetisation. And since said pass includes an entire prequel game, the crystals are basically a bonus.

It's good. The combat takes a while to get used to, but I think that's an issue with every Xenoblade game. It's got an interesting plot that nicely carries on XB1's way of slowly drip-feeding you background information that makes you realise there's whole layers of stuff going on that you don't know about yet. The only major issue I have with it is the gacha system, and even that wouldn't be so bad if they just didn't block save-scumming.

I hit a wall somewhat near the end where a combination of a difficulty spike and being disillusioned after popping a bunch of rare crystals and not getting a single unique Blade kind of put me off playing for a while, but I'll get back to it one day.

Also, as I understand it, XB3 follows up plot elements from both prior games, so if you want to play that one it probably helps to have played 2 first. Not sure to what extent that's actually necessary though.

If you're on PC, there are mods to take some of the guesswork out of who likes what (so fewer interactions are 'wasted'), or just give loads more friendship points so you can max out the rewards quickly and then ignore the socialising.

I tend to start out trying to complete all the available content as I go, then about the halfway point realise that I've missed way more than I thought I had and just head to the end. At no point do I give even the slightest shit about achievements.

WoFF has one of the most annoying mascot characters I've ever encountered. It has such an incredibly grating voice and overdone verbal tic, I couldn't even bring myself to finish the demo because I couldn't stand that damn thing for another second.

Apparently, Hatsune Miku's original bio stated that she was 'an android from the future', which would make her eligible, but nowadays it seems like she's treated more as an AI actress who plays roles rather than having a fixed story of her own.

DotF was also a reboot in an alternate continuity (and apparently the guy who wrote it wasn't even aware there were other games) so hopefully they mean a direct sequel continuing the original storyline.

If you carve Revan into a mountain, then you just get angry players defacing it because they don't like his canon appearance.

Leaving out 4R as I haven't played it yet, I'd say VII > 2R > VIII > 3R

2R is great, but loses a few points for skimping on the two scenario setup from the original, which leaves it feeling a little lacking in content compared to the newer games. Village also still great, but smacked a bit of lacking a coherent direction, veering between horror sub-genres. 3 was... fine for what it was, but should have been more.

Baldur's Gate I & II were definitely very influential on the WRPG genre, so maybe they put 3 in as a representative of the series as a whole?

As an Owlbear, I probably beat an early game protagonist on their own. As they get a party and/or some experience though, I go from a tough battle to a speedbump.

But on the upside, I'm an Owlbear! I'm gonna go to Waterdeep and get domesticated.

For Dragon Quest, I got into the habit of naming them something that's somehow related to the game's number. For III to IX, that's Trini, Ivy, Quentin, Hector, Julian, Nate and Nina.

Objectively best is Suikoden II, but I still voted Star Ocean because it's my favourite.

That's actually a pretty significant plot thread in both games.

In MGA1, pretty much every character is suspected of not being who they say they are, including Snake, who might be someone brainwashed into thinking he's Snake. Turns out he was being brainwashed into thinking he was being brainwashed and he really is the same Snake from the MSX games (but the Solid games didn't happen in this continuity).

In MGA2, Snake is a clone of the Snake from the previous game.

"enjoy the game offline for the forseeable future" is a weird statement, since it implies that at some point in the future they anticipate making the offline mode unavailable, which shouldn't be possible if it's all running locally.

Wasn't Doomsday supposed to be on a par with Superman strength-wise (some sort of adaptive powers that matched any threat he faced)? If so, then the fact that he and Supes punched each other into comas would make this a yes.

If I wanted to start the Science Adventure series, should I go with Steins;Gate, which seems to be by far the most popular (and, currently, cheapest), or Chaos;Head (which I believe is the first in both release and chronological order, but twice the price because the localised remake is newer)?

Also, is there any way other than Winlator to read the CoZ patched versions on Android, because I'm not sure I could take a straight VN (ie- one without other gameplay mixed in like Danganonpa or 999) on desktop. That said I'm gonna get 428 anyway.

I bought it last week. I'm really enjoying it.

There's definitely some bad design choices relating to live service and grind, and the mission structure is really linear compared to the open world, but the basic movement and combat mechanics are great fun. I'm even liking the cast and their bickering a lot more than I expected- King Shark is brilliant.

Could I take Gears 5, please.

I hope this prompts them to port it to other things. I've always felt Recettear would be great on a handheld, so a Switch or even Android version would be extremely welcome.

Can't see much point if it stays PC only, though. It's not like good sprite work ages the way 3D models do.

Same. Except I accidentally paid for it once, because I swear the 'free trial' offer turned into a 'one month half price' during the checkout process. Sneaky bastards.

The Outbreaks should be remastered, not remade. The gameplay and level structures should be left unchanged (maybe improve the writing a bit), they just need some graphical polish and better AI for single-player mode.
