Been giving this some thought. Doraemon is an icon, but I don't associate him with robot like I do with, say, Astro Boy. So let's swap him out for somebody nominated earlier who I'm surprised isn't getting more traction.

Nominate Fictional Supercomputers as a separate category. That's where HAL, AM, SkyNet, Deep Thought etc belong.

I'm no expert but to me, a cyborg is something that begins as biological and has robotic parts grafted onto them, or their brain/consciousness is placed inside a robot. The main point that they began as biological. Also in my arbitrary definition, their body has to be mostly mechanical before they qualify as cyborg. Like a dude with a robot leg isn't a cyborg, he's just a dude with a robot leg.

No matter what though, I would consider the T-800 a robot. The biological parts are basically clothes, a disguise. It doesn't need the skin and blood to survive.

Apparently, Hatsune Miku's original bio stated that she was 'an android from the future', which would make her eligible, but nowadays it seems like she's treated more as an AI actress who plays roles rather than having a fixed story of her own.
