As a Black person, I felt his inauguration was symbolic that the sky is the limit for us a people. I know that it doesnt mean racism is suddenly over day by day but i did feel that it at least signaled times have changed drastically. But racial tensions are a testy issue in this country, so it was just my personal take that it showed social progress and I have fewer excuses to allow racism to hold me back. 2. As a President, I was a bit disappointed with a few issues. Such as: >Closing Guantanamo Bay >Bailing out banks >I was pretty grossed out to see him support Hilary. Given all the trash talking he did to her when they were opponents, all his criticisms of all her still rang true when she ran for Trump. Yet all of a sudden she's the most qualified person he knows. Same with Michelle saying that "If Hilary can't run her own house, how can she run the White House (inferring that because she cant control her husband cheating, how can Hilary run the country). He can be just as phony as the rest of the other politicians. I never saw him as the messianic figure some other Black people hoped he'd be though. I'll never forget my Uncle buying a shirt of Obama taking Neo from the Matrix's place on the movie poster. I do appreciate that he brought dignity to the position though. I don't think the average person cares about deep politics, they care about how the person presents themselves. Whether it's Trump "triggering libs" or Obama being "well-spoken". |

I'm honestly exhausted at this point. It's impossible to just cast an actor for a role without it somehow being a political move on either side. Cast a black dude in a role that doesnt target his race then you're a libcuck OR too afraid to make a message and make being black matter. Make them White then you're either championing some cause you're not or you're afraid to be diverse. Ridiculous. |

While there are plenty of things to criticize Trump over, there are also things he's done well. Ben is able to properly make that distinction in this clip, whereas Bill relies on emotional arguments and refuses to take a more balanced view like Ben does. It makes Bill seem like the weaker of the two in this exchange (and rightly so). I disagree with Bill on where the civility needs to start "first." Playing "well they started" it is going to get us nowhere, it's not like it's a game where everyone is keeping a tally on who did what uncivilized act, and when. The modern person sure isn't', they're just reactionary and fueling their own tribalism. I think Ben handled himself well here. Bill was interrupting, so that kind of annoyed me. But this has to be one of the more "accepting" Democratic platforms he could go on, compared to what he's used to getting. |

I doubt most of his audience watching was White, since Tyler targets a certain portion of Black Audiences to watch his films. Yet he's able to churn out films whenever and make millions. Black Panther galvanized quite a bit of the community overall to see it at least once (I know Black people who've seen it more than two times). |

But it's baby steps. I don't personally feel "pride" in my orientation though. It's not like i worked / earned anything by liking men. But it's nothing anyone should ever feel shame or lower self-worth over, it's irrelevant to the content of your character. |
