I've started to sneeze increasingly louder to make absolutely sure that she hears me. Yet, she refuses to acknolwedge that my body is physically convulsing as bursts of air blast out of my mouth and nostrils uncontrollably covering my hands, keyboard, and monitor with fresh mucus and saliva.

Yet I bless her everytime. What the hell is wrong with this monster?

Setting aside the obvious joke topic, real talk - why do some full-grown adults get mad about this?

Even worse are the ones who get mad that you didn't thank them for saying it. As if they think they're actually saving your soul by saying it, and you're an ungrateful shit for not appreciating that.

It's a common courtesy that shows you respect the other person.

Literally no one thinks you are calling upon God to bless that person for having a nose fart. What is so bad about maintaining a quirk of our culture??

"Bless you" is one of the most irritating customs we have.

I just went through what basically amounts to a train wreck* and your response is to try to force me to muster the strength to say "thank you" immediately afterward.

I have literally even had people wait a second and when I didn't give into their demand repeat it like I was the one being rude.

*if you have relentless allergies and strong sneezes like I do, that seventh or eigth sneeze in a row leaves you basically unable to move

Courtesy and respect would be asking the sneezer if they feel okay. Response might be "actually no I'm sick :/" and you could respond "Oh no sorry to hear that. Anything I can do to help?" Or conversely the reply might be "nope all good lol, just felt a tickling sensation and my nostril and the sneeze was unavoidable :P" to which you could reply something like "haha yeah that happens to the best of us lol" and you've done your good deed and the sneezer feels cared about and happy feelings are experienced by all.

As someone who sneezes at least once every day at work, I prefer those around me not to say anything. It's annoying having to say thank you back.

However I also refuse to say it to the woman that I hate, and nobody else says it to her either.
