This has been an especially dark time for black people. I don't need to remind anyone of that. Yet, two years ago they had a major victory. Black Panther was a cultural phenomenon. They finally had a major black LEAD superhero (War Machine and Falcon are sidekicks. Or rather, were.....) and he shattered box offices expectations. It was a moment of celebration for the black community.

.....And now their hero has been taken away. God fucking dammit.

And this does hit me on a bit of a personal level because Black Panther was actually the movie that got me into Marvel. I for the most part wrote off superheroes except Batman because, well..... they're too perfect. Too OP. (And I had no idea what comic writers were doing with Batman at the time that made him just as bad as Superman.) But then thanks to my family peer pressuring me to go see Black Panther with them, I eventually learned that my grievances with comic superheroes were just shit DC did, and that Stan Lee actually had the same problems then decided to change the game.

And after rewatching all the films, Black Panther is still in my top 5. Beneath Winter Soldier, Infinity War/Endgame, and Ragnarok.

there's a strong culture in America of "I worked for what I have, fuck everyone else" so paying into a public healthcare system would mean using your tax dollars to support poor people's bad health choices
