You do realize this topic is about The goddamn Simpsons. Yes and the tone of The Simpsons is more mature than the wholesome kids shows. Its a show where nudity, sex, violence, conflict, physical abuse, emotional abuse and racist stereotypes can happen and has been established to be part of the tone of the show even if they dont happen in every episode. It even touches upon serious issues like depression and suicide. Homer and Bart aren't untouchable and will be shown to be put in harms way, even if it is the other one causing the harm. --- "Well, it's not a bad game. About time. I never found it funny. No one. Its not supposed to humor the audience but to shock them. Its like how people watch scary movies and horror movies to be scared and horrified. Regular people dont think of murder and gore to be funny or something they want to see in real life but are willing to subject themselves to it being shown on screen. --- "Well, it's not a bad game. Good change is good. Bad change is bad. No one is in favour of a father strangling his son nor does anyone think its amusing. But it was part of the shocking tone The Simpsons set itself to stand out from the more wholesome animated kids shows. I do feel like other shows like Family Guy oversteps the boundaries past The Simpsons in terms of shock. I generally like the Family Guy but it can sometimes go too far. Porch Pals being the episode of Itchy & Scratchy after there were many complaints about the show being violent, then the kids stopped watching and went to play outside resulting in Itchy & Scratchy going back to violent normality. Only modern day Simpsons is heading towards Porch Pals and wont be returning to the way it once was. It can still be mean spirited. One episode had Marge being outright abused at a new job. The wording doesn't suggest it can't connect to a TV, it just suggests it will be able to do without literally requiring a dock. That's what "Maintaining the existing concept" means, I think.
